I walk here on occasion for lunch during the week. The sandwiches are always great and I usually get a mid day coffee from here. Recently I got the capresse sandwich, and it was good but I recommend getting that for din-in only. I had it to go and it was kind of soggy when I got back to my office. This confusing shop near the college offers, one which is more of a café, some pre-prepared food, and the food that I came for which was a customizable salad. The main reason I came was because it was open earlier than some of the other alternatives. It wasn't the smoothest service experience as I was directed to one desk to pick up my salad and they told me to wait there only to have it put out in the back without giving any indication to me that it was ready. The available ingredients for a salad were diverse, and it was a helpful thing to be able to bring to the beach with me. The combination I got was bizarre, but for the most part worked because I ate my sweet chili tofu before I put on the ranch dressing for the rest of the salad. There is some quality here, but I've had better experiences elsewhere in Charleston. read more

I loved that there is so much room for customization of your drinks here! My friends and I all got different matchas by our own design. I had matcha with lavender and honey. The flavors definitely come through - it was very sweet and creamy. While I enjoyed my matcha I usually do prefer a stronger matcha flavor but would recommend for those who prefer a lighter taste. Would not recommend. It's a super fast casual joint full of college kids. Very loud with no sound absorption. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches, a drip coffee, and a latte. The girl who took our orders was super friendly and efficient. The girls making the lattes and sandwiches unfortunately were not. They called our number and gave us only 1 sandwich. When we brought the ticket to them to show them we were missing the other sandwich, they questioned us as if we were lying. Then, when my latte cooled down enough to drink, I found that it was not what I had ordered. There was a syrup added to it, which shouldn't have been. The girl I was speaking with asked the other girl if she put syrup in my latte. She told her no and then this girl tried to hand it back to me as if I was lying. I asked her to smell it, it tasted and smelled like hazelnut. At this time she finally offered to remake it. The second one was scorched, but it just wasn't worth asking for a third one especially since I watched her drop the metal milk frothing cup because it was too hot. These girls could use more customer service and barista training. The sandwiches were just okay. My husband had the sunrise and I had bacon, egg, cheese, and kale pesto on a croissant. A huge College of Charleston haunt and also Tik Tok famous pet my daughter. They are right off campus with off street parking. The store is good size with an industrial vibe. Orders are walk up with large menu boards utilized. They are known for great bakery items and coffee. My daughter insisted we try. Service was friendly by the young lady. The order was an iced latte, chocolate chip croissant and a burrito. Prices were very good for coffee. Drinks are self serve on a side wall. The kitchen is in the rear. Table and chair seating in the center. The order is brought to the end of the counter which took ten minutes or more. However they were very busy. The coffee was darn yum! The burrito was surprisingly huge and tasty. The hero was the chocolate chip croissant that was according to my daughter the best she ever had. We visited a few times during our visit. They offer the regular menu all day and breakfast only in the AM. You order at the counter and they call your name for pickup. Ingredients are super fresh. We dropped in for a caffeinated beverage after emerging from our hotel that morning. There were a few coffee places in the area but the name of this place won them our business on that faithful day. I wasn't about to do anything crazy and was sticking with beverages but I was pleased to see some of their menu items which looked amazing like ice cream in a PRETZEL cone. What on earth?! I was going to go with a standard coffee but jumped at the matcha as soon as I saw it. After that trip, I could really use some antioxidants. The place consists of different stations for Expresso bar & breakfast, prepared foods &salads, and sandwiches. We dined there in the morning for breakfast. Although I love the concept, I would love to see some upgrades in the execution. I ordered a latte and it was lukewarm. I return the latte. Although the gentleman was very nice and had a new latte made for me, the new one was not much warmer. Not sure if it was the machine or the way they prepared it? Husband enjoyed his bagel & lox and 17 year old enjoyed his egg sandwich, although it was mentioned that the eggs are pre-packaged. Caviar and Bananas is is clean, bright, and cheery. We LOVE making our own tuna sandwiches and salads. The hot case always looks fresh and very tempting, however we LOVE being able to build our own sandwich from the bread up! The drinks, sweets, and chip sections are SO well organized. You can't go wrong. Clearly, the owners have great taste AND a sense of volume. YES! The price point is high. However, you're paying for location, quality, speed, and a built in tip. C&B has a mass appeal from the CofC college kids to (okay) boomers and everyone else in between. I can't really tell if I like this place or not. The atmosphere is nice. Usually lots of college kids sitting and chatting or doing schoolwork and eating. The food has been hit or miss. The Italian wrap is honestly pretty bad. The wrap itself is pretty stiff and cold, the ingredients are just ok. Not much flavor to the chicken. I tried the Aztec sandwich the second time I came here and it was a step up. Toasted, hot, lots of flavor. These sandwiches come with no drink or sides, and they're all $11~. Granted, it's downtown Charleston. Just not much food for the price. These portions would be more reasonable at maybe $8 or so. Services has always been pretty quick here. I've only ordered sandwiches so I can't speak on the smoothies, ice cream, etc.The employees are all super cool though! Really friendly. Don't use Chow Now to order. I placed an order and called to cancel it 9 minutes later b/c it said the order wouldn't be ready for 50 minutes, tried to cancel but still got charged. Caviar and Bananas said that wasn't their fault, so both the store and the app left me hanging. Their reasoning was "well, we weren't busy so we made your order faster than the 50 minutes we told you to get it". If I showed up 50 minutes later, it would have been a cold, greasy egg sandwich and cold coffee. Not sure if this place is good in person, but won't be trying it now. read more
