I rarely leave reviews, especially negative ones, but I feel like this needs to be shared. I called this clinic to ask about euthanasia for my senior dog, who has been struggling with serious medical issues and seems to be constantly in pain. The person who answered the phone was already short with me and had an attitude. I had barely begun to speak -- I said, "after lots of consideration, we think euthanasia is the most humane option." -- and was hung up on. No explanation. No follow-up. Even if it was accidental (which I'd like to believe), a call back would have been the bare minimum in this kind of situation. Anyone who has had to make a decision like this knows I didn't call lightly. I've been living with this heartbreaking situation for a long time and was simply trying to do the right thing -- which I would have explained had I not been cut off. read more

I've brought my dogs to this clinic for years and always trusted their care, but my recent experience has completely changed that. My dog became very sick and was diagnosed with lung cancer. The two medications prescribed nearly killed him. When I brought him back in, hoping for guidance or concern, the response I got felt more like an indifferent "oh well" than real support. Thankfully, my dog has since improved on his own -- he's eating, gaining weight, and acting like himself again, aside from a lingering cough. When I called to request a second opinion from another vet in the same practice (something I've done before without being charged), I was told I'd have to pay for a full exam again just to see someone different. Given the seriousness of my dog's condition and the years I've been coming here, this felt dismissive and unfair. I'm disappointed and no longer feel comfortable bringing my pets to this practice. I received this notice via REGISTERED MAIL the day after a visit to have my dog checked for a cough. Nothing unusual was found on examination and a cough suppressant was recommended. (Dextromethorphan, I'm assuming, as that is the customary cough suppressant prescribed for dogs--doggy Robitussin, although, unlike other prescriptions I have gotten for my dogs, this bottle did not list the ingredients: it only said "cough suppressant.") However, I refused the medication when I discovered that they were charging me $77 FOR A BOTTLE OF ROBITUSSIN!! The staff is great when you can get an appt. They don't about continuity of care, so if your pet is sick good luck with getting an appt within the next 2 wks of calling. If my pet can't be cared for when sick then I don't need this vet when my pet is healthy. Maybe don't schedule 2 hour staff meetings that close the office. read more

I took my two under 10 lbs pooches in for their first time visit. The vet had all of their previous records since birth. The technicians gave my dogs shots that last 3-years (when previously they we're used to 1-year vaccinations... many of them split into two dose because of their size)... and told me after the fact. I was surprised by this, got home and my dogs were behind sick almost immediately. I called their after hours voicemail the very same night... they said I can come in to pick up medication for their extreme diarrhea and vomiting, but they had nothing for the lethargy. They attempted to charge me for the medication and offered to give them both another examination for the same cost of what I just brought them in for less than 36 hours ago. I refused to fall for their scam... and if it wasn't a scam... I refused their service anyway because they clearly do not care about the wellbeing of my girls... nor correcting their errors. I don't know how they have the ratings they have; Are they under new management?! My girls have been to plenty of daycares, clinics, vets, groomers and their facility and each place is always clean, smells good and employs true dog lovers. This place is small, smells terrible, and clearly isn't run by people who love dogs because there's no way a dog lover would be the cause of a dogs illness, not care, and try to profit from it. All the women that work there, except the woman with the cane, are cruel... to humans as well. It took my girls 2-weeks to recover... and lots of Pepto Bismol - They were MISERABLE. The last few times I've been here I've had a great experience with both the vets and front desk however I called on Friday evening and the customer service was trash. I asked several times for a price for a certain test and kept getting a run around answer. I asked her if she could go ask the vet and after minutes of back and forth (asking her to do her job) she put me on "hold" then hung up. I never call a got back that's how I knew it was intentional. I am so grateful to have found this vet's office!! They are the absolute best at what they do. I have had my 2 dogs (daschund & blue tick/plot hound mix) since they were puppies, now they're 8 yo. I've been coming to Savannah's crossing for over a year now and they are the first vet to give my dogs what they need, WHEN they need it! My daschund had health problems until now! They found something to help her allergies AND keep the infections away without constantly having to give her a steroid shot. Everyone that works at Savannah's crossing is so kind and knows what they are doing! They are not out to take your money nor will they add on unneeded services. Dr. Maddux and Dr. Parks are fabulous in taking care of my old puppies! I have been taking my dachshund, Pepper, here for the past couple of years since I moved to the Barfield area. He's 13 years old, and Dr. Maddux prescribed allergy medicine that has given him so much relief from constant sneezing/coughing. He's also gotten his teeth cleaned and some pulled when necessary. I take Pepper and my husband's dog Max (9 year old lab) here for check-ups yearly now. The vets here listen well and seem to genuinely care for our dogs. They have always been understanding when I couldn't afford a particular service, and they offer discounts such as Dental month (February) where teeth cleaning is discounted. We are so happy we found Savannah's Vet. Dr. Maddox is an excellent veterinarian. Our little Boo had some anal gland problems which is very nasty and smelly, so Dr. Maddox recommended a surgical procedure to fix this problem and it worked beautifully! Our little doggie is cured of the problem. They are cutting edge with the 6 month heartworm shots, we love this! We had a very sick dachshund and he stopped eating and drinking. It was our first time there. I would highly recommend them. They were so nice and he gave our dog a great exam and told us his quality of life was very low. We decided it would be best to put him down. I can't say enough good things about this place. My 9 year old Spaniel has always has severe skin and ear infections, and I've been to multiple vets with varying results. One vet gave him antibiotics and said it was diet related, but offered no additional assistance (the staff was also very rude), another vet said it was allergies and to give benadryl. Finally, the last vet i went to was able to diagnose that it was a skin yeast infection...they also spent the majority of the visit trying to sell me unrelated services and products, charged what i felt was a lot for the meds and services we did need, and even though his symptoms went away, they came back in full force and they said to come get more of their expensive medicine. I then tried home remedies, from apple cider vinegar to monostat and OTC shampoos...nothing helped. I was cleaning his ears the other day and noticed a small amount of blood and decided he HAD to get in to see vet that could actually help. I got on Yelp and filtered by most/highest rated and this place popped up. I called and they were able to get me in at a time that worked for our schedule....they are amazing here! The staff was so friendly, and the doctor took the time to explain everything to me...the thing I appreciated most was his focus on the end game. Sure, there are going to be meds and everything needed to get his symptoms better now, but he talked more about how he was going to interpret the results from all this and pinpoint the root cause so we can regulate and resolve this long-term. It's also worth mentioning that they never once suggested a service that wasn't obviously needed, nor did they once try to sell me on additional medicines or anything. The only extra things I purchased was a cone to keep him from scratching the ear treatment they applied out and some medicated shampoo I was running low on...and I asked for these things, they didn't suggest them to me. After all of that, I was still out the door paying significantly less than I did at the past vet. I highly recommend this place, and I appreciate the care and compassion they showed towards my furry member of our family. read more

I will never return here with my dog and honestly can't recommend this place to anyone. This is surprising to me to some extent, because this vet has a number of really fantastic reviews, and I based my decision to take my service dog here in large part because of that. However, my dog has not received the kind of care he deserves here. My service dog has experienced intermittent idiopathic seizure activity since he was about a year old following a fall on the stairs. It never caused much of a problem, but it did concern me, so eventually after we moved to this area I decided to take him to this new vet. So this is not illness related, but Dr. Maddux seemed to practically be salivating to make some illness related diagnosis. He wanted to do blood work, which I understand and even agree with doing just to be thorough and make sure my dog is in good health. I also agree with bloodwork since we have started a medication and I understand things need to be checked now and then. However, I made it very clear right away that I couldn't at all afford the blood work for awhile, that I would need probably 6 or 7 months to save. And when I say couldn't afford, I mean AT ALL. I didn't mean I could find a way to somehow squeeze out the extra funds. I even told Dr. Maddux that I had recently been diagnosed with some serious medical issues and the bills are crippling at the moment. They are crippling to the point that I don't have any extra, don't have things to sell, etc. I could afford to get my dog the medication he planned on prescribing, but wouldn't be able to afford the blood tests for awhile. I'm pretty sure Dr. Maddux either didn't listen or didn't care what I had to say because he interrupted me constantly and while he didn't come right out and say I wasn't caring for my dog, there were some vague statements about how my dog could have a full, healthy life or die young due to my not doing the blood work. I NEVER SAID I WAS UNWILLING TO DO THE BLOOD WORK! I said I couldn't afford it. Dr. Maddux ended up prescribing zonisamide to my dog for the seizures, although he said he'd only do it for two months and then I would HAVE TO get the bloodwork. Zonisamide is a drug that vets are not in agreement on doing blood monitoring for, but perhaps Dr. Maddux insists on blood work for everything, I don't know. Once again, amid a bunch of interrupting, I tried to tell him that there was no way I'd be able to do it that quickly. He dismissed that and said I'd have two months to save the $100 for the FIRST round of bloodwork, then if he found more cause for concern there was going to be more bloodwork that cost $300 and up. And that's before any treatment for the illness he convinced himself (without and before getting any evidence) my dog has. I tried to explain that saving like that since I became disabled isn't something that can just be done. It seems easy to save $100 in two months, right? Wrong. I can save $100 in maybe 6 months with how my health is. Of course, trying to explain anything to this man was ridiculous, because he didn't listen. Now before anyone tries to say I shouldn't own a pet if I can't afford it, usually I can. Secondly, this isn't a pet. This is a service dog, and he gets put before me nearly every time. But my medical conditions have tapped me out, and I can't somehow pay money I don't have. And even with that, I've spent hours today in tears trying everything I can think of to just get him this medication he needs. So I called the office now a couple weeks short of when my dog's medication is supposed to run out and explained once again my own medical and financial situation, let them know that this medication is working perfectly at controlling the seizures (he's had ZERO seizures since being on it) and said that I couldn't afford to do blood work yet, but would Dr. Maddux continue to prescribe the seizure medication until I could? I just need more time, and didn't want my dog to feel bad in the meantime. The answer was a big NO, followed by some b.s. about how they wanted to do what's best for the animal. REALLY?!? That is absolutely not true. If they wanted to do what was best for my dog they wouldn't allow him to abruptly fall off of medication that has helped him be 100% again. That isn't my decision. I was clear from the beginning about what I can currently do or not do, and I've repeatedly said I'm willing to do the blood work as soon as I can afford to, but my dog needs the medication until then. NOPE, same answer that I must do blood work now. The statement about wanting to do what is best for the animal was in the same same sentence where they mentioned protecting themselves from liability, so it's not that difficult to see what this is really about, because it isn't about doing what is best for my dog or what is affordable for me. This is going to impair my dog's ability to work and further impair my ability to function, but ok. read more

I took my 14 year old Pomeranian in last week to Savannah's Crossing to have some blood work done. My dog had been wanting outside to pee a lot more often than usual; this leaving me concerned. After reviewing the test results, the doctor was concerned that my dog might have bladder stones. I brought him back a few days later for scheduled X-Rays, and thank goodness everything looked clear. Regardless, Dr. Maddux wanted to be 110% sure that nothing else was going on, so he prescribed some bladder medication for my dog to take daily for 7 days. In just the past 3 days, my dog has been acting like a young little puppy again. Thank You Dr. Maddux! read more

A very RARE find nowadays. Gives me hope in the future of good ole fashioned business. Animals come FIRST here, Dr. Maddux has passion for his work. He's NOT out the clean out your pocket book. He's out to help the animal. It's becoming harder and harder to find vets of this nature. I'm from out of town (Family lives in area/recommended him) and he cleaned my Italian Greyhound's teeth for very reasonable price compared to the literal rip off prices quoted by vets in my area. Just meeting with him you can tell he cares about the animal and his work. I'll finish by saying I'm about a 14 hour drive from him and if Rocco ever has an emergency or is very ill, that's what I save my vacation time at work for. I truly cannot recommend Dr. Parks and her staff enough! I could shout from the rooftops how incredible they are. If you are looking for top tier care for your fur family- this is the place to go! Forever thankful for them. I recently moved to town so was hoping to find a decent vet as I'd thought my dog was possibly pregnant after feeling a lump that was coming and going in her stomach w her recently being in heat. I came across them and from the moment I spoke with them over the phone to schedule the appointment the front desk gal was super friendly, informative, and got me In right away. She was upfront with prices and they were also much cheaper than most- they are not sales pushy like some whatsoever. The entire staff made me feel comfortable from the beginning. At our appointment they unfortunately found a large concerning mass that needed to be operated on and Dr. Parks was extremely friendly, informative, and compassionate in explaining the next steps and findings. She moved her schedule around to get us into surgery asap. The surg tech on the day of (I'm sorry I don't remember her name!) was very loving towards my baby and made me feel comfortable and confident in the risky procedure and knowing she was surrounded with good energy. Upon operation Dr. Parks learned things were worse off than we originally thought and called me right away to give me options on how to proceed. She was calm and supportive and calmed my nerves with her confidence and kind manner. We decided to continue with the risky surgery and she did an incredible job- going above and beyond all while keeping me in the loop constantly. Although the outcome of my pups health was heartbreaking news and we still have a journey to go I couldn't be more grateful for having such loving and supportive vet staff surrounding her and I. It's very hard to find good vets with great prices and they are all of that times a thousand. They went above and beyond for me and my fur baby and I cannot thank them enough! DO NOT GO TO THIS VET! They do not care about you or more importantly your pet, i called due to an issue and let them know i was going to be a little late they told me as long as it was no longer than 10 minutes I would be fine, i got here 3 minutes before the 10 minute mark and walked in right at it because i had trouble finding the building (which i called again asking about so they knew i was there) they told me they couldn't see my dog because the next appointment showed up early. Mind you my dog can barely walk and her paws are bleeding horribly and i just drove 20 minutes to come here because i knew i wouldn't be more than 10 minutes, but because the next appointment showed up early we're just screwed. Note, when we walked in they had clearly already taken the person that showed up early back way before the 10 minute mark because they weren't in the waiting area, so they didn't even care to wait for me even though I called and let them know and they told me it would be fine, again, as long as i was there no later than 10 minutes, which i wasn't! They didn't even care to work with me and just do the emergency care as it was their mess up telling me incorrect info over the phone! They couldn't care less about how much pain my baby was in, they actually just couldn't wait to sweep us out of the door! They told me that they only scheduled my appointment for 20 minutes, even though i was getting multiple things done (update: it's worth noting we were able to get an emergency appointment at a very compassionate vet down the street called Animal Care Veterinary Hospital *go there instead* and it took almost 2 hours for the same evaluation and treatment plan). Horrible customer service and i can't believe how little they care for animals, the front desk ladies and whoever the vet is should not have anything to do with people nor animals. Please find another vet, i now have to see if i can find somewhere else that can see her today which is unlikely cause my baby is in unbearable pain. read more

I found Savannah Crossing online shortly after moving into the area. I myself work in the pet industry, so I have high expectations when receiving care for my German Shepherd and Poodle.
