We recently dined at Savant as a group of 14, initially drawn by its beautiful ambiance and welcoming atmosphere. The environment was visually stunning and set high expectations for the evening. Our table was fortunate to be assigned a lovely and attentive female server who truly elevated the experience with her professionalism and warmth--she was, without question, the highlight of our visit.
However, the evening took a sharp and disappointing turn when it came time to settle the bill. A slender gentleman, presumably a manager or floor supervisor, approached our table in a highly unprofessional and discourteous manner. Without introduction or courtesy, he informed us that we needed to vacate the premises by 7:30 PM as another party was scheduled for our table. This was said while we were still mid-meal and, notably, one of our guests was awaiting a remade entrée due to receiving an undercooked pork chop--served twice, both times alarmingly raw in the center.
From a food safety perspective, serving undercooked pork poses a serious health risk, including potential parasitic or bacterial infections such as trichinellosis or salmonella. The lack of urgency or accountability demonstrated by management in addressing this matter was deeply concerning and unacceptable in any professional dining establishment.
When we attempted to explain that our delayed departure was due not to tardiness but to the kitchen's error in serving raw pork twice, the gentleman responded dismissively and, frankly, combatively. He claimed that "if people weren't late, this wouldn't be an issue," which was factually incorrect--our guest had arrived on time and had merely been waiting for a safe, properly prepared entrée.
To exacerbate matters further, when it was time to receive the bill, this same individual refused to accommodate our previously communicated request for split checks, stating, "It's not my problem--too many people moving around." This level of dismissiveness and lack of customer service is inexcusable. The group had notified staff from the beginning that bills would be separate. Instead, we were forced to handle a large, single bill amongst ourselves--adding stress and disorganization to an already frustrating situation.
The repeated insistence from management that we "had to be out by 7:30" felt like we were being herded out, rather than served with hospitality and care. There was zero attempt to offer a resolution, apologize, or even acknowledge the valid concerns we raised, particularly about the food safety issue.
In summary, while the decor and our female server were exceptional, the overall service--specifically the behavior of the male manager--was utterly disgraceful. His demeanor was aggressive, disrespectful, and completely lacking in the basic principles of hospitality, let alone professional courtesy. The failure to properly prepare food, followed by a refusal to take accountability or assist with billing, reflects a profound disregard for customer experience and safety.
We will not be returning, nor can we in good conscience recommend this establishment to others. read more
