Average at best. It's a fun place. The food we had was barely edible. The drinks were not good at all. The rum punch tasted like cough syrup - we sent it back. The service was pretty bad, but to be fair, they were very busy. The snapper that cost $40 was overcooked and tough. The fish tacos were tasteless. Really bad. I had never had lousy fish tacos before. I have now. Pretty disappointed as it had been suggested to us as a good place to go. Looking for a restaurant on the boardwalk with a view, good food and a large drink selection, look no farther than Rum Runners. The day was warm, so the waterfront boardwalk and balmy breezes on the open air patio set the tone for an enjoyable meal. Our server, Charlie, added to our enjoyment. He was personable, knowledgeable about the menu and pulled off the service with aplomb. He's a great ambassador. The four of us enjoyed entrees ranging from a Fish Sandwich to a Turkey Reuben, to a fresh salad, all of which were good. We added mixed drinks which were refreshing. We were never rushed as we enjoyed the view, the food and the pleasurable delight of great friends. I definitely recommend this Caribbean gem. read more

One of the best reuben sandwiches I've had in a while -- turkey piled high on rye with slices of Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing. It came with a generous helping of hot French fries and 3 cold dill pickle slices. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio that offers excellent views of the ocean, with boats in the "bay." What made it more enjoyable was our attentive server Charlie who met our requests with a smile. The other diners in our party had no complaints; in fact, they raved about the French fries and said their entrees were fresh and delicious. Rum Runners also sports a full bar and a colorful decor. So it was my first day here in St. Croix. The hotel I was staying in was literally a few dozen steps away from the boardwalk, my friend Chad said let's go to my favorite place. And that's what led me to Rum Runners. I'm telling you, this place really captures the island vibe. Great selection of music playing in the background waterfront table seating, very open and airy. This place is definitely a slice of Island heaven When you go, you really need to ask for Jake. Such a good server, excellent tableside manners, and just a good guy. Offers suggestions, and is just a pleasure to have as a server. Can't recommend him enough! My go-to meal at this place is the American breakfast which is eggs, your choice of bacon or sausage, toast,.. I always go for the bacon. And you absolutely, 100% must try the Barons hot sauce. Don't worry, it's not that hot but it's super flavorful and I'm ordering a bottle to take home with me! You definitely need to try a cocktail while you were there. Look, you're on vacation, it's okay to have a cocktail at 9:00 in the morning. You can enjoy the scenery while they cook your breakfast. If you look close enough you might see a crab or two. Trying to saddle up next to you. Looking for bits of food on the ground. I'm telling you, listening to the water lap against the rocks. Looking out over the pristine Blue Ocean, combined with a great playlist of music. Makes for a morning adventure. You will not soon forget. Forget. I have not tried lunch or dinner there, next time I come back I may just eat all three meals there. Bottom line you have to check this place out! You're in the island man so don't run anywhere. We went to have brunch here. Our table was close to the boardwalk which gave us a fantastic opportunity to people watch and to look at the boats out in the marina. Conch fritters was how we started the meal. They were a good size and very flavorful. We both ordered the 2 x 2 x 2 which consisted of 2 pancakes, 2 eggs cooked to order and 2 strips of bacon. The pancakes were thick and fluffy. Everything tasted good. Before leaving, I decided to try the rum cake. I received a very healthy size of cake with a dollop of whipped cream. To my surprise, the cake was cold rather than warmed up. It was very good. We also ordered the Cruzan Confusion (a cocktail with a combination of several Cruzan flavored rums with orange juice, pineapple juice and cranberry juice) and a Strawberry Daiquiri. The Cruzan Confusion was outstanding. Be aware that there are very intrusive pigeons. They kept walking towards us and once walked under the table looking for scraps of food. It was annoying because of the feat that they would fly onto the table to try to get into our plates. Throughout the restaurant there were some great paintings and murals. read more

I have to give them props for being open on Christmas Day! They open at 5:30 pm and there was a small line waiting for them to open. You can order drinks at the bar at the entrance while you wait if you would like. We were seated fairly quickly and our waitress came to take our drink order. They have some tasty cocktails. We ordered the conch fritters as an appetizer. Although they are about the size of a large hush puppy, you only get about 5 of them and they are served with a chipotle remulade that was kind of bland. Both of our kids had cheeseburgers that they seemed to enjoy. Hubby had the fish tacos and a bowl of potato soup. I ordered the "catch" special, which was pan seared wahoo with a pineapple salsa and rice and green beans. It was very good. The food is good, but the wait for the food is a little long. Came for dinner on a weekend and surprisingly there were a ton of tables available with a perfect view of the water. Our server had a great personality, constantly joking with us and providing prompt service. We had a few margaritas which came out within a few mins and then we both ordered mains and skipped the apps. I had the fresh catch that day which was mahi with a lemon dill cream sauce, veggies, and rice. The cream sauce was to die for. So delicious. The mahi was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. We went there for lunch the other day. They had a wahoo special and it was prepared three different ways fish taco, sandwich, and entree meal. My buddy asked the price point differences and selected the sandwich which was supposed to be $22. I noticed the next day on the bill that they charged us $32. We went back and the manager (Bill) said the server was wrong and should have told us it was the same price as the meal. He refused to make any adjustment and just said the server made a mistake. Never have I seen a restaurant charge the same price for the sandwich as they do the entree, but apparently RumRunners does. The sad thing is I got the Mahi sandwich for $18 and it was much better. Needless to say we won't be back and I would recommend others make sure you know what you're paying for. read more

We had party of 10 but we're seated pretty quickly. Orders taken promptly and recieved drinks. I had the chicken and it was amazing!! Best meal I've had in St Croix. Prices were comparable to most restaurants here. Our server must have gotten busy and we all ran out of what we were drinking, but the guy at the bar was very attentive, noticed we looked a little needy and then went above & beyond to get us fixed up. We were seated immediately at a table by the water, for a relatively early lunch. The service was excellent throughout the meal. It was fun to watch the fish swimming near the dock, right next to our table. Rum runners offers a laid back vibe, we liked the music, which was not too loud, allowing for conversation. This was at lunch, your experience may vary depending upon the time of day. They had specials on their board, and we thought the food was good, though not outstanding, we ordered a cheeseburger and a salad, basic fare. Yelpers have given this place a 4-star rating, and I concur that it's in the 3.5 to 4-star range. We'd be happy to return, and really enjoyed the venue. read more

This bar/restaurant has an awesome location right off of the Christiansted board walk overlooking the water. It is colocated with the Caravelle Hotel & Casino. I loved the atmosphere and vibe they had going on. There is a small free lot by the restaurant, which is almost always full and free street parking in a reasonable walking distance that is available. You may have to be patient during peak times and wait for a spot to open or park further out. They have dining area, bar and covered patio seating. I decided to sit at the bar. Damon, AKA Big D was running the bar like a boss. He was very friendly, personable and helpful. He really made my lunch experience there, a positive one. They have 2 different menus, a lunch and a dinner one. They have a few differences from each other. I ordered the rueben sandwich, which is not available on the dinner menu. It came with fries. The restaurant/bar has happy hour drink specials (4 to 6PM) and daily lunch specials. Be sure to check them out. They have prices that are very comparable to other restaurant/bars. The bar is a full bar. They have a couple of small televisions around the bar that have sports playing on them. They also have classic R&B and soul music playing in the background. They played some of my jams while I was there. I also got one of their world famous Lime in the Coconuts drinks. It was so delicious. One of the best drinks that I had on the island. It did not take long for me to get my food. I would say about 10 minutes or so. The sandwich and fries were both delicious. Packed with flavor. I had heard a lot about Rum Runners before I visited and it not only met, but exceeded my expectations. It is a nice laid back and chill spot with some savory drinks and delicious food. This place is in a great location right at the water so you can enjoy the pretty views while having drinks and/or food. My friends and I had lunch at a local place and decided to stop for a drink. We couldn't sit in any of the tables closest to the water, but the bar area had seats facing the water. The bartender was super friendly. DISAPPOINTING AND RUDE. First the good. The food is delicious. The ambiance is great right next to the water. NOW the "meat and potatoes": Most of the time the service is decent. Tonight it was horrible. And on top of that, I was forced to pay a 20% service fee (tip). I would have tipped much lower because I had to get up and get waters for the table, 20 minutes after asking for refills. Now, there were four of us at a table and asked for split checks and that made it a mandatory 20% tip. WELL, this explains why the waitress had no interest in making sure we were satisfied, she already scored her 20% tip. I did confirm it is on the menu at the bottom in small print, but who's ever heard of that at a table of four????? I didn't ask to speak to a manager, but one came out ready to argue! Not even sure if it was the manager or another waitress posing as the manager. If she is a manager, she must excel in ordering supplies and paying bills, because her condescending social skills seriously lacking. The conversation was over when she told me that a table of 4 is the same amount of work as a table of 8. I choose not to engage with people like that. Such a shame because we are staying at the hotel Rum Runners is attached to and I am here on a scouting trip to plan annual group trips. This happened on the third day of an 8 day trip, so not only have they lost the business for the remainder of our trip, but they've lost any business from future groups, as we will not be planning any dining there. You cannot count on them being open during the website's posted hours. Sometimes they open late, or not at all, or close early because reasons. But, it looks very nice after being closed for remodeling with new tile and fresh paint. Mostly new tables, chairs, and umbrellas, too. Service is good, friendly but a bit too harried to be very attentive. A typical drinks list and a few local beers by the can. It's a nice spot for brunch, especially since so many other places are closed on Sundays. The Eggs Benedict were excellent, with perfectly toasted English muffins and ham that was grilled before placing it on top of the muffins. Great service from Sean our server. Drinks were great / the local root beer was smoooooth. The food was quite a surprise. With a name like Rum Runner's - we were expecting dive bar/Caribbean fare - instead I'd classify the menu has above mid scale Italian/American. Our dinner was WOW - not what we thought we'd get. The Pastas were loaded with flavor - my assumption is homemade sauces, not anything canned. Appetizers were great too. Lots of places like to brag about their Burgers and I'd say it is a legitimate brag here. The burger was flavorful and cooked perfectly. A great location on the boardwalk. I wouldn't kick rum runners out of bed for eating crackers and will return. read more
