Dinosaur Cake Chocolate cake with cream and banana filling

This review is strictly for the bakery. Thalia to be exact. She was referred to me by a friend and is so worth the drive. I gave her my idea and she absolutely brought it to life. I got a chocolate with bananas and a marble cake with strawberries. Both cakes ran me about $80 but wasted like a million dollar dessert. Thalia loves what she does and she work speaks for itself. My kids loved them.

I went here today, Wednesday, April 12, 2019 to pick up a free package of salami that rewards members got, valued at $5.99. I generally do not shop here, as I find Costco, Trader Joe's, and Walmart have better prices; but, hey, if it's free, why not? I have been here about three or four other times since 2014. The supermarket is in a plaza by itself, along with a Union 76 gas station, which I believe is also run by Save Mart, but I could be wrong on this. There is a pharmacy inside, as well as slot machines up front and a propane gas exchange and Redbox. They store has four self-service check out registers, and well as one or two manned registers. This is a huge, full-service store with deli and bakery and the like, but I rarely see many people in here, so I don't know how they manage to stay in business. They are so big in fact, that I can get tired walking around the store looking for an item, haha! The customer service here is always excellent, and there is never much of a wait. Whenever I have asked a question, they know the answer and are very helpful. Parking is ample, although I wish they did not have diagonal parking, as there is plenty of space. It is also a pain to drive to the end of the parking lot to get out (diagonal parking is supposed to mean one way usually), only to see there is no exit there (there is one on West College Parkway by the store, and another north of the gas station, but I usually do not want to go by or through there to get to the exit).

The quality is always tops. I was having a bad day yesterday and the 2 clerks ringing me up asked how my day was going. I just told them in a couple of sentences the experience I was having. The selection here is great. They recently remodeled so it's clean and organized and they don't often move things around which is great. This store is a bit smaller than the others nearby in Reno, but still offers plenty. My favorite sections are the freezer and wine selections. So many great grab and go freezer meals at TJs and the wine selection at this store is great. They have a great offering of liquor and beer as well and they support lots of local breweries and distilleries. Love it! The service is awesome here. They always have lots of cashiers and the lines move fast. They often give out samples of new products as well as cheese and wine. When I'm not shopping for groceries at Costco, this is where you can find me! Go Trader Joe's!

Their incredibly knowledgeable team operates with stellar performance that people completely take for granted, never mind a few peevish one-star reviews which bear no relation whatsoever to the professionalism benefiting the Carson community. These outstanding individuals assist hundreds of people every week and simply don't get enough credit for how much they have done right, making the difference nobody sees-- they are like front-end phantoms you might not even notice on a busy day- which seems to be every day! They have a working knowledge of every single product being sold, and where to find it. I have even been met at the register someone handing me the very product I couldn't even pronounce correctly to find that someone had gone out of their way to make sure I found what I needed and handed it to me while I was already in checkout! US Foods CHEF'STORE is a bit Costco, a bit Smart & Final, and a bit Aldi. This place would supplement a grocery run, especially if you were planning a large family gathering. Their direct to consumer model probably fits more towards restaurants, including supplies like pizza boxes. I found prices to be reasonable, the perishables to be fresh, and with good selections in places like coffee syrups. Gayle and I will continue to shop Raley's as our main grocery store and with small item supplements at Trader Joes. But for the larger guest feeds, we'll be back.

US Foods, Chef store, as an overall company model is a net benefit to any community. If you think about it, the big players in hospitality have supply chain and distribution all figured out. US Foods supports the small independent businesses which are the backbone of the economy. Every business requires a level of proactivity and organization to be successful, but when it comes to having something ready to go in that last-minute pinch, US Foods solves many needs. If planned properly, with the "click and carry" option, everything can be ordered ahead for the week and picked up in one load. Prices are better than delivery overall. Many shelf stable items are on sale frequently and can be stock piled. Using US Foods chef store, and other direct to consumer stores for our supply chain during these pivotal years has allowed us to stockpile win, able, and order fewer items more often as necessary. Rough estimates for the five-year savings of using this method is close to $350,000. From 2021 to 2026. As compared to ordering from Sysco, US Foods direct, Chef's Warehouse, Bakemark, etc. While distribution companies are also extremely important for the private operator, the US Foods Chef store direct to consumer model requires no minimum, no surcharge, and allows for an individual operator to order as much or as little as needed. This morning I purchased a click and Karie order from the Carson City US Foods Chef store. I ordered it for Tuesday, but was told it wouldn't be until Friday. They communicated well and I had planned for the delay. I called them on Friday to verify that it had arrived, then went in on Saturday morning, super early to pick it up. Three people thanked me for my business. They each made me feel respected and appreciated. I'm happy to give them the business! Well, done, Team!

A few weeks ago, I ordered a torta of carnitas. In the past, the tortas have been very good, this one was not. It had very little of the cárnitas, and one piece and only one small piece of avocado, the rest was all vegetables. Today, I ordered the shrimp burrito and a piece of flan. The burrito, in the past, had nice size shrimp and it was fresh. The burrito today had small, hard shrimp, and was filled with a lot of cabbage and other vegetables. It tasted nothing like it did before. And the flan was subpar also, they arent using the right kind of milk, so the flan isnt smooth, it has a lot of bubble holes, and the flavor was very blah. This used to be one of my favorite places to order Mexican, but unless the quality of the food improves, I'll be going elsewhere.

The store seem like a typical Mexican supermarket. I go over to the deli counter. Seems like the person is taking orders and speaks English well enough. I ask what's inside a Burrito? She tells me beans, rice, onions cilantro and the meat you choose. What? NO cheese included? She answers, cheese is extra. What the hell, who ever heard of a burrito with no cheese included? OK, I add cheese for 50 cents more. The prices seem reasonable, compared to Playa Azul where cheese is included. It's $9.50 here plus 50 cents for the cheese. OK, I'm good with that. What brings the star rating way down, enough for me not to come back, is the order on one lousy burrito took like 20 minutes or more to come out and this was like at 10:15 in the morning! Slapping together a burrito and rollin it takes no more than a few minutes, I've seen it done (not here). Watching, looks like they have a lot of to go orders they're making first and tossing them under the counter to be picked up later. Makes more sense to make the orders of the people waiting at the counter BEFORE to go orders where the customer is not even here! Forget this stupid service waiting that long! The burrito on top of that was MISSING the damn cheese I paid extra for! It was rolled and wrapped kind loose and was not stable to eat like other burrito places. The dining area was fine to eat at, but just getting the food was the problem and it wasn't made correctly! Forget this Centuro Market for made deli food.
