We had applied with multiple rescues across Sacramento, but many were non-respondent or had old legacy listings for dogs that were no longer available. When we saw "Fuggle" pop up on AdoptAPet.com one morning, I knew I had to put in an application for our family, despite feeling hopeless that it would not go anywhere. The application was quite thorough, but was quite similar to those we'd filled out for our Berner. I received an auto-reply stating they would reach back within a week, and lo and behold 7 days later, I received the happiest news and sweetest email, "I am happy to tell you that we have selected you for my favorite puppy! He really is the cutest.  What is your schedule like? I am hoping to do homechecks this week and then have the puppies picked up from the adoption event this weekend.  Just to make it easier for us to get it done :)" We quickly got in touch for a homecheck after work one day, were officially approved and were able to take "Fuggle" home just 13 days after submitting our application. The adoption process was so incredibly smooth and easy, and everyone at Recycled Pets was incredibly nice and professional, from the home visit, to the foster parents, to the adoption day. We've since attended a puppy reunion with his litter, and have joined a wonderful online community that celebrates everyone's extra-special love for their Recycled Pet. I'm so happy that Recycled Pets helped us find "Fuggle" but just as happy that we have such a caring and loving rescue organization here in Sacramento.

I didn't…read morereally ever visit this place until I was at the yummy Popcorn Store last year, walked by & seen an ad taped on the window that advertised doggy-day-outs (visits and hangouts with dogs for 15 minutes of longer) or doggie sleepovers. Answering that sign was my foot in the door to the shelter and how I started to visit the cats & dogs, take the orientation/volunteer classes, do doggy day outs, sleepovers & adoptions here at the shelter. I've even dropped off blankets, towels, hand towels for donations, just walked around to visit & give treats to happy, sitting doggies, to hang out with cats, and also for a sad reason-to quarantine my beloved doggie due to a biting incident. I'd highly recommend this shelter to fill your heart-to lend a hand, volunteer, and share your love with these unhoused animals by walking them around the block, taking them for a hike, a Pup-Cup at Starbucks, to the park, or to even foster the cats, dogs, or other furry creatures. The first animal we fostered here was a Boxer mix named Josh Hartnett. He was so full of energy, excitement. He was the star in his own show and our family was just his supporting cast. The surprising & amazing thing the shelter did, was the immense support we got while fostering Josh. The shelter provided all the toys, the kennel, dog food, leash, dog bowls, pretty much everything you would need to take care of a dog in your own home. Any time I had a question or concern, I could text them & they were timely to answer & meet all my needs & concerns. I remember one time Josh quickly chewed up all the toys they gave us. Concerned with his stress or even him chewing up our belongings, I asked the shelter for more chew toys. They put some in a bag for us & left it outside for easy pick up since I had to come by after hours (they close at 6pm). I liked that they are responsible for their animals reproduction and even had an established appointment for Josh to be neutered which I knew about via email. After 2 weeks of fostering Josh in our home, he went to get neutered. I kept track of him when he went to another dog foster parent, then eventually when he found his fur-ever home. Sadly, we didn't get to see him after we fostered him, but the best part was seeing him be loved & cared for on the Facebook Foster thread by other amazing foster parents then his eventual adoption. The shelter does really well to help the public be aware of the energy, social needs, cat/dog friendliness, housetraining needs, a potential owner would like to know before adoption. Green paw means pretty laid back, orange paw is in the middle, purple paw is high. There's signs above the crates that specify their approximate age & breed. While a potential adopter walks around they're welcome to grab a paper bowl & fill it with treats & treat them as long as the dogs are quiet, and sitting. Adopters are also welcome to hang out in a room or in the play area with a dog they'd like to get to know more. There's also a whole cat/kitten section and a nice room to hang out with them. Lapcats makes adopting kitties such a breeze! My partner and I were looking for two cats after we…read moremoved into our very own house in 2020. Because we were deep in Covid times, it was hard to get in contact with any adoption agencies. Lapcats was the first one to get back to us. We were interested in two bonded brothers. They were a little younger than we wanted (1.5 years old), but we were able to take them home for a 2 week trial period to see if they'd work in our little household. The night we brought them home was the night we decided to keep them. Our cats are little trouble makers, but they are also so dang well-behaved and socialized incredibly well. Sometimes (I mean always) I watch reels of other cats and I think of how wonderful my cats are. They don't bite, scratch, or hiss. They don't tear up furniture or eat plants. They don't even care about human food. Obviously, they aren't perfect. They both have the worst smelling farts known to man, and they have a tendency to always get in the way and get stepped on or kicked. Aside from that, we really lucked out with our little silly heads, and we have Lapcats to thank for that. Now if only I could convince my partner to let me adopt a few more...

I love my two kitties with all my heart, they were my first babies, before I met my husband! After I paid, had my cats for a while, had their microchips placed in my name, and they got all settled in, I received a text from the woman who oversaw my cats adoption stating they never received payment. Mind you, the adoption fee is the posted amount per cat but x2 for cats they say are a "bonded pair". I don't regret getting both my cats whatsoever, especially since they're siblings and love eachother dearly, but I wish they told you this before so that you could decide if you wanted to spend $800 as opposed to the original $400, or however much you budgeted in for adoption totals. However, I sent the full amount and was confused. The lady replied when I told her I sent the money with saying I can just call my bank and cancel the amount sent and they "are the ones who will return the money to me, but they're going to need another payment of the full amount sent immediately or else they're going to need the cats back". This sat wrong with me solely because what self respecting cat rescue place would pull two kittens OUT of a loving, caring home, unless their only and pivotal desire was one of financial gain? None. And to threaten that so quickly over what was (at that time) just a misunderstanding? I find that not only selfish, but also rash, greedy, rude, and quite honestly despicable for anyone who takes on the title of "rescue" or "sanctuary". If you're in the business of selling cats as opposed to animal welfare, just say that. Anywhom, I sent an ADDITIONAL amount this time and less than a day or two later, received another text but this time with both the ladies who were overseeing the adoption. And there was no manners (or adult/professional) behavior present in these texts. They started accusing me of being a "scammer", a "con artist", and using words and slurs that I would be embarrassed to EVER say to someone. I sent them the picture of my receipt displaying the amount sent, which had their information as the recipient and the amount paid all pictured. Then I blocked them. I never received the money back from the original payment, which means I they scammed me for 4x the amount I was originally told I had to pay for just the adoption. And lastly, months later, I was contacted by my BOSS saying that THEY were sent a letter stating that I owed them money. Not only is that a blatant lie, it is also pure insanity, delusional, and I assume considered illegal under definitions of harassment and extortion! The letter threatened to sue, and I was hoping to god they did. Because I would have loved to get to present all the evidence of just how "mean girls" run this organization in front of a court and have it all backfire on them so that I have grounds for a counter suit claiming defamation, harassment, extortion, and every other grounds of dishonest practice that a business could take part in (and get caught doing when their greed and ego clouds their profit driven vision..because they aren't mentally developed enough to spot the risks that come from that beforehand). But unfortunately, they never sued. I assume they knew they were in the wrong and knew it would backfire, so they chickened out. Either way, I love my babies, which is the only reason they get one star. Other than that, I would've been a lot less graceful with my words chosen here. And I would've ensured I saw my day against them in court as well.

After reading about the low cost Spay Day in the newspaper (I thought awesome, daughter has no job remember), so we called this wonderful organization and they offered vouchers for spaying/neutering. After answering some questions and providing proof of unemployment; they sent the voucher by mail the very next day. Along with a list of vets. I highly recommend this organization, they also have a feral cat program. If you don't have a need for their services; how about a donation, I'll be sending them mine.

I have assisted her in giving shots to some of her pups, and this organization does things right. They make sure the dogs are HEALTHY before adoption, which I know a lot of rescues are sheisty on, they follow up on the "after care" of the adopted pets, they do home checks and have a detailed application to make sure these pups will be taken well care of!!! She has even transported dogs from So Cal up here via other volunteers, and Chris has driven adopted dogs all the way to Oregon to be with their new families. As an RVT student, and having interned in vet clinics, dealing with the "Racism" of the Pit breed on a daily basis in my own work (I am a pet sitter and walk dogs, and several pit bulls..and the looks people give me you'd think I'd crapped on the sidewalk in public or something?!) Anyway- I HIGHLY recommend going through this rescue if you are looking for an organization and people who honestly just love dogs and are not in it for the money like many other organizations.

I saw that Jo was getting worse and I had to make the most hurtful decision to euthanize him ( very heartbreaking). Because of the holiday I called around and the emergency vets were so expensive $600 + I could not afford that at the time. So I went to the SPCA florin Perkins road and they treated my Jo with care, I really appreciated that. The end of life service was $150 and it was easy when your going through what I went through. I'm thankful for the affordable cost to lay my pet to rest.
