LapCats is a wonderful organization. I adopted a kitten on 6/26/21 and had such a great experience. Barbara was incredibly communicative and had great advice in ensuring my new kittens transition into my home with an existing cat. All of the kittens in the facility were sweet and well cared for. The facility was easy to find inside PetSmart and the adoption fees included microchipping and a bag of food and lots of coupons for pet supplies. I would highly recommend LapCats for anyone looking to adopt a pet

The shop is always well stocked and they have seasonal items as well as a consistent supply of high quality treats, toys, accessories, and more. Of course there's a water bowl up front and they often offer our dog a treat while he's in store. We love the variety of toys and treats they offer. Our dog likes toys that have a ball inside the stuffed animal and they can be hard to find, but we've gotten some very cute ones here that have lasted a long time. We also love that they have some cute wearables for people too! We have been building a collection of sweatshirts and t-shirts that they offer and always love when a new design pops up.

I specified in my notes that my dog was turning 13. So I wait for the day the cake is due to picked up. Arrived to a very cute, corner shop. Walking in, the store is cozy and covered all my bougie dog needs without having to look too hard. The lady at the counter, turns out was the owner and baker for Leash & Collar. She was kind, friendly, and you could tell she loves her store, what she does, and doggies of all breeds! She made the perfect cake, added a few extra cookies she made just for my dog, and threw in a candle/sign for the top. I turn around and see a super cute hat for myself as well. Simply put, they have earned customers for life. No matter the dog, I will always come back to make each birthday memorable and support a local gem in Sacramento

An Absolute Must-Visit for Sacramento Dog Owners!…read more If you want your furry best friend to live a long, healthy, and happy life, you need to head over to Ben's Barketplace in Midtown (1515 19th St #100). The managers, Decelle and Brie, are absolutely amazing. They don't just sell pet food; they truly educate you on the benefits of what you're feeding your pets. To give you an idea of how much they care: a few years ago, a friend's dog was suffering from severe knee issues. I connected her with Decelle, who recommended a specific holistic diet. Fast forward to today, and that dog is completely free of those knee problems! That kind of expertise is priceless. They walked me through some of the incredible raw and freeze-dried options they carry, and the nutritional benefits are mind-blowing: OC Raw Dog Food & Green Juju Lamb Recipe (Frozen Raw): These are packed with premium, unprocessed proteins, natural enzymes, and organic produce. They are incredible for improving digestion, supporting joint health, and boosting overall immune function. Vital Essentials Salmon Bites: Loaded with natural Omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for reducing inflammation, supporting joint mobility, and giving your pet healthy skin and a shiny coat. Snook's Sweet Potato Dog Chews: A fantastic, natural alternative to rawhide. They are low-fat, highly digestible, and packed with fiber and vitamins to support gut health. Northwest Naturals Beef Heart (Freeze-Dried): A nutrient-dense powerhouse. Beef heart is naturally rich in CoQ10, iron, and B vitamins--perfect for boosting cardiovascular health and energy levels. OC Raw Freeze-Dried Venison Pieces: A super lean, "novel" protein. This is an absolute lifesaver for dogs with common food allergies or sensitive stomachs who still need high-quality muscle support. Beyond the top-tier nutrition, the store is perfectly set up for pet parents. They have an awesome dog wash right on site, and--a huge rare bonus for Midtown--they have plenty of dedicated parking! Whether you're dealing with a specific health issue or just want to optimize your pet's diet, go see Decelle and Brie. Your dog will thank you!

During my visit, I stepped onto the ladder that was available in the fish department so I could get a better look at the fish in the upper tanks before deciding which ones to purchase. Almost immediately, the manager, Nadine, told me to get off the ladder. I explained that I couldn't properly see the fish from the floor and only needed a few seconds to look at them more closely. She repeatedly insisted that I get off and told me to stand back and view the fish from farther away instead. What made the interaction even more frustrating was that the moment I stepped off the ladder, Nadine immediately moved it away from the area. The ladder is almost always kept in that exact spot whenever I visit the store, so it felt like it was moved solely to prevent me from using it. I am unaware of any posted policy stating that customers are not allowed to use the ladder that is provided in the store. If such a policy exists, it should be clearly communicated. The interaction left me feeling embarrassed, singled out, and unwelcome. Because of this experience, I left without making a purchase. As someone who has been a loyal customer and spent a significant amount of money at this location, this was incredibly disappointing. At this point, I no longer wish to remain a customer of this company.

She also carelessly threw my cat food cans in the bag, which I did not appreciate as they can pop open or get dented but I didn't say anything because I feared she might snap and I don't have time or energy for people like that especially when I just want to feed my kitties. I was aware that my dog had a hotspot on her front leg prior to the appointment, but she has never had a hotspot near her butt before. The owner noted after my initial review that this red irritation could be from an anti-fungal shampoo she used, which I did appreciate honesty about. While it's possible this could be food-related, my experience with other groomers has never resulted in an issue like this. We also brought in our other dog, an Aussie, for grooming on the same day and were very happy with her service. However, given my experience with my retriever mix, I will be taking her elsewhere in the future. I found the professionalism in the owner's texts to me after my initial review aggressive, and this is further leaving me with no desire to return. Initial review prior to revisions: I have a retriever mix that I shave down in the spring. I'm assuming the shaver was hot and it burned my dogs skin. Allie was curious as to whether this was a hotspot from her food. While yes, I do feed my dog the purina pro plan chicken and rice, that is the food our vet recommended she go on. Never once has she had a spot like this on her butt. My bf picked her up so I wasn't there to advocate. I feel bad when my pup came home with this raw spot. I put some hydrocortisone lotion on it and it healed in a day. My pup has never came back from the groomers with open wounds so unfortunately, I won't bring my dog back here. I will take her to pet smart where I can watch the groom from the window. I would've really loved a "it's possible it's food but I may have also nicked her skin." Our other dog went in at the same time and she looks great!!! I just care about this pup so much it broke my heart to see this spot

I'm giving 2 stars (which is a stretch in itself, but only for the vendors that have shared their products with this store to sell). The store front is cute, appealing and looks welcoming. The products are wonderful and my husband and I very much enjoyed what we bought. But that's as far as the good goes. The store owner (Lisa I think she said her name was?) came off rude and racist. I am a multiracial woman, my husband is white. When we walked in, with our German shepherd (I was handling him), she didn't greet us warmly or friendly and by us, I mean my dog and I. She was so nice and pleasant to my husband, but stood as far away asking multiple times if my dog would bite her dog. I repeatedly replied no, that he was very friendly and submissive to other dogs. She kept asking after I said this, but when my husband finally said no he was friendly, she quit asking. I tried many times to have pleasant conversation with her and I was asking questions about her shop and trying to be friendly. I understand not everyone is a fan of big dogs so maybe that was it. Her dog had treats it was eating on the floors scattered around the store, fine no issue. But she got slightly upset bc my dog ate it. I apologized repeatedly for it and she just ignored me. My husband would speak to her and she would come from behind the counter to talk to him, even walked outside with him when we finished our purchase so she could show him where to park, fine. But this is where it went even more sideways... as I was standing on the sidewalk with my dog, an Indian family walked by. She brazenly says to my husband, "all these Indian people make me so uncomfortable. There's so many of them." Then talks about something Israeli being on her phone and how she dislikes it so much and doesn't want to see "all that" on her own phone. Her entire demeanor towards me was so off and rude that I even said something on our way home to my husband which he even replied that it seemed extremely racist to comment on anyone let alone a family of color walking by to HIM and how she treated me. I so badly wanted a nice afternoon with my husband and my pup, but sadly my entire experience was ruined by the owner of this shop. This was a massive disappointment and mistake going here.

My first visit was with my Boston Terrier, Chloe, and today I brought my Pug Sookie. The entire staff and veterinarians are incredibly kind, welcoming, and clear with their communication. The exam rooms have such a calm, relaxing atmosphere, and they take a low-stress approach to handling pets. During Chloe's first visit, they gave her treats while administering her vaccine, and she barely noticed the shot! She's usually very stressed at the vet, so seeing her stay so relaxed meant a lot to me. Both of my dogs have been much calmer at Sactown Vet. I also appreciated the thoughtful welcome gifts, including stickers, a magnet, and a folder with information about the clinic and our veterinarian. It's those little touches that make you feel truly welcomed. I highly recommend Sactown Vet to anyone looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable, and fear-free veterinary team.

I clearly explained my dog has some sensitivity from past veterinary trauma. During the exam, they touched her from behind without warning, she gave a brief warning response (no bite), and they immediately stopped and refused to continue. The only options offered were: * come back for another paid visit with anti-anxiety meds they never told me about beforehand, or * take my dog to the back alone for sedation/anesthesia to complete vaccines. I don't understand how separating an already anxious dog from their owner, restraining them, and sedating them is considered more "fear free" than a calm, controlled vaccine with the owner present. For context, my dog regularly goes to groomers and is handled all over her body without issue. This feels specific to the vet environment, not general aggression. I later went to another highly rated clinic and they handled her immediately and professionally. She was given treats, a muzzle was only used briefly as a precaution at the end, and she received all vaccines and testing in one visit within minutes--for a better price. This clinic felt rigid, poorly communicated, and more focused on protocol and repeat visits than actually working with the animal in front of them. I would not recommend them.

I was told that this would not be a problem because they do not require puppies to have a rabies shot for grooming. When someone called later to confirm my appointment, I asked again to make sure. I clearly stated that this was my puppy's first grooming appointment and that he still had not received his rabies vaccine. Once again, I was assured that it was not an issue. However, when I arrived for the appointment, I was turned away because my puppy didn't have a rabies vaccination. This was incredibly frustrating because I had already made special arrangements at work, took my lunch break later than usual, and coordinated with my daughter to pick up the puppy after his appointment. If this is your policy, that's completely understandable--but I should have been told that from the beginning, especially after asking twice. Instead, I wasted my time, rearranged my day, and left feeling very disappointed. Better communication and consistency with customers would have prevented this entire situation.
