Great Independent pet store tucked away in the corner here by AJ's. Great selection of healthy pet food and everything else you might need. They recently added a self-service dog wash which is handy. This place is great with returns! We bought a new Frenchie puppy and I needed to buy him a harness. Well he hasnt had his last shot so I couldn't bring him into the shop. I went back twice to return and get the right size and the female worker was so kind. And it was so easy to return. MOLLY Wednesday February 26th,2020, I had a nap with my Dog Molly. We were both beat, me from my workout and Molly from her surgery. After I woke I layed with Molly and she looked at me and said Dad, I'm no longer a young pup. I wanna sleep some more, so I layed with her and petted her and her eyes opened, flickered and closed and I layed with her for 40 minutes just enjoying the bond that a man and his dog have. Today, I realized that Molly is a senior citizen and has just past me in chronological age these last 3 months. I was gonna go out to an art show but I just can't leave her I took her out for coffee (she had a little bowl of whipped cream and then we went to this store. Unfortunately, due to a serious medical issue with one of our cats (as well as the fairly advanced ages of most of the others,) we had to switch the food to a prescription diet for the one and a specially formulated diet for the others. We had a considerable quantity of the canned food left that we had purchased at My Pet Market, which was worth several hundred dollars. We are happy to report that My Pet Market most graciously took the food back and issued a prompt refund. If MPM starts carrying Science Diet, we will be purchasing from them again. We couldn't ask for a better place from which to buy our cats' food, or more understanding and nicer people to deal with. read more

I was in awe of the immaculately clean store, open, bright, extremely well-organized, immediately comfortable. Ari, a caring and true professional, greeted us and made sure we found what we needed. Being personally into health, I noticed the food quality was over-the-top from anything I've purchased before, and I know I'll make my next cat food purchase here. I left with a generous food sample for my little10-yr. old rescue, Lola, and just had to purchase a toy that she fell in love with immediately. Honestly, this is pet-store heaven. This is the Whole Foods version of a Dog Supermarket. They specialize in "Natural" , "Organic and "Holistic" Dog Foods. It's not cheap to shop here just like Whole Foods (whole pay check) but that is because your buying specialized , less ingredient , natural items that cost more. The salesperson they had on asked me what I was looking for and showed me several options. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the ingredients in the packages and explained why some were better than others. They do dog dental cleaning here for $150.00 with no sedation. I haven't had my dog's teeth done here so I can't say if it's good or not but I can tell you that is a nothing to bark at price for dog teeth cleaning. Dog rescues set up here on the weekends. They are conveniently near to AJ's where you can buy $40.00 a pound halibut and $40.00 a pound mushrooms. I based my 4 stars rating on comparing to another smaller similar dog food store in the area that offers much less at similar prices. read more

Wonderful store, but insane markup. Cans of dog food are 30%-50% more expensive that nearby stores, and toys are nuts! A very common rubber ball toy that was available on Amazon for $5 was priced at $19 (nearly 400% markup). The store itself is beautiful, and the folks working there are kind and helpful, but I just can't justify paying that much more for service alone. read more

Oh my, did I just have an extremely poor experience at this store! As soon as I walked in, I was accosted, not greeted, by a young woman who "demanded" to know what I feed my dogs. When I told her that I was actually looking for wet cat food, and that I use Canidae dry (grain free/ limited ingredient) for my kitties, her immediate response was, "That is really bad food. We don't recommend it." Shocked, I inquire as to why she feels that way, and she says, "It has by- products and a lot of recalls." When I tell her that she was mistaken- that Canidae contains no by-products and has never to my knowledge had a cat food recall- she says, in a snotty tone, "You can feed your pets whatever you want." She then goes to the computer and tries to find a recall- which she cannot- and I show her the ingredients (no by-products), and she stubbornly sticks to her guns... "I was trained that it is not a good brand." When I again state that Canidae is considered a high quality food in most circles, she replies, "People think that Pedigree is a high quality food and it's not." My response, that Pedigree cannot be compared to Canidae, is met with a little snarky smile and "I can't tell you what to feed your pets. We consider Canidae in the same class as Pedigree." Having had enough of this conversation, I drift away to look at canned food, and she wholeheartedly begins trying to push a $4 per 5 oz. can (yes, you are reading that right) brand with which I am not familiar. I finally say, "I am not familiar with some of these ingredients, and I do want a better quality food, but I go through six cans a day, so a bit too pricey". She then walks off in a huff, throwing over her shoulder, "Well, let me know if you need anything". Huh? I don't mind if the children who work at the store don't know anything. I do mind, however, that her ignorance is coupled with an absolute lack of desire to learn. Throw in a completely obnoxious demeanor, and that is all she wrote. I won't return. Two stars, because they do offer some good quality products and the store is clean and inviting. Prices are high, however. read more

I came in just because I was in the area. I live out west and have a few options, but I usually drive to Noble Beast in Central Phoenix. Not only is a local owned and operated, they have a fantastic selection of good food and their prices kicked Choice Pet Market's butt. I've wandered into a few Choice Pet Markets around the valley and was always sticker shocked on their prices. No idea why people support such a mark up on already expensive pet food. Example: 9oz bag of Stella and Chewy's cat food at Noble Beast is $18.95 and a 15oz bag of Stella and Chewy's beef dog food is $28. Total for the two about $47. I paid $70 at Choice Pet Market. That's $34 a bag. Apparently, Choice Pet Market thinks consumers are stupid or because they locate themselves in affluent areas that people don't care about what they spend. When I paid the total, I thought it was high, but it wasn't until this morning as I was finishing off the old bag of cat food that I saw what I pay at Noble Beast and was compelled to warn others of this company's ridiculous markup. If you don't want to drive to Central Phoenix, then use Amazon for your food. It's in line with normal prices for things like Stella and Chewy's. Don't get fleeced by this store. (and a comment on the staff. The young man leaned on the counter the whole time I browsed the store and the young woman played with the ferret. When I asked a question about the difference in two brands, I didn't get any nutritional information, just a personal opinion that one brand was 'expanding too fast and that would mean recalls soon, he thought.' Noble Beast knows their food. Their staff is trained and can give you specifics. I wouldn't trust the two staff at Choice Pet to help me pick out poop bags. Just sayin' read more

We have been going here for over 5 years. Never a problem and always a pleasant experience. Five years ago we followed a particular dog breed rescue to this store as they were having a meet and greet with the bulldogs there. We had never even known about this store and location. We did not meet the dog that would ultimately come home with us at that meet and greet only because she had an injury just before and unexpectadly was not present. We did meet her later and took her to her forever home with us! Being the finicky breed she is we chose to stay with the food she was use to from her time at the rescue, that came from this pet store. Maybe it was available at another store, who knows cause I never went else where for a single bag after all these years. And that is because of being treated so kindly each and every time, each month for our big bag of Zignature. Having the program for 11th bag free for awhile was a neat treat. But it wasn't what brought us in and didn't make us leave when it went away. All the staff we have dealt with has always been the best. Would like to add a special thank you to the fella that had helped us the most, whom I believe is the evening manager of the past while. Sorry, I forgot his name, tall & lean, dark haired fella with a super helpful attitude. (Add edit: After reading another review, it must be Anthony. Loathe this store, but it's the only spot on the west side with a good selection of dog foods and treats. Most everything else in the store is overpriced junk you could get on Amazon for 30% less. Staff, comprised mostly of high school tards, is rubbish; zero knowledge and not friendly at all. Customer service on par with a bad fast food joint. Prices are about average for high end foods, though how they're handled and stored at the store is questionable. The first bag I bought there was full of bugs (probably because of a small gash from a box knife that I didn't notice until I got home). Pretty nasty to see the food in your dog's bowl moving. They exchanged it, but it's a pain giving a 60 lb. bag of food rides around town. Operating a box knife isn't too difficult. It's only saving grace is that it's conveniently located next to AJ's and a few blocks from BevMo. Other than that, find a better place for quality dog foods. I know I am... UPDATE: I had to come in the other night because I had to buy dog food since Pet Club was already closed and Choice Pet was the only other store open thay had the same dog food... and I was really dreading coming in because of the employees and their oh-so-charming personalities. I was very surprised to find - not one, but TWO!! - very upbeat and happy AND NICE employees!! So you earned an extra star, my friends. The dog food prices are reasonable, so no complaints there. However, I couldn't help but notice the dog toys were way overpriced. I'm a sucker for cute dog toys even if my dogs will demolish them in less than 10 minutes, but I won't buy a toy here. To be completely honest, there is nothing special about this store other than the staff being friendly and helpful in finding what you are looking for. I thought it was going to be a really cool store like a larger scale dog boutique with one of kind finds or cheaper pricing but there really isn't a lot of selection that you can't find anywhere else like Petco, Petsmart or even Wal*mart. Although the prices are kind of high, this is a great pet store. They have a great selection of natural, healthy dog foods and treats, as well as all-natural grooming products. They have an online newsletter that notifies you of sales and coupons and their staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about their wide selection of food as well as caring for the pets they sell. We bought both of our parakeets at this place, one from each location and they're both healthy, good birds. Of all the good things about this place, the best is that they sell the raw food for the bones and raw food diet in their freezer section, which can be hard to find. I went to this Store, Choice Pet Market in Glendale, Arizona for the "first time" on June 23rd, 2011 and I was assisted and helped by a Sales Associate by the Name of Jackie. I want to tell "everyone" that Jackie was extremely nice and very patient with me. She listened to me, on what I was trying to do with my Cat's and how I was trying to feed them "better food". She was very knowledgable about the Cat Dry Food Product's. And she also helped me, with some Cat Hairball Treatment that was on the market. I really did appreciate, that she took the time to help me. And I have to admit, I did talk alittle bit too much about my Cat's. And she was very, very patient on listening to me. Thank You Choice Pet Market for this wonderful Employee. She is truly an asset to "your" Company. I will be back to Shop at Your Store. And I recommend this Pet Store to Everyone in the West Valley as these "have a "hugh selection on Premuim and Quality Dog and Cat Food and they are "reasonable priced". This place was referred to me by my friend who recommended the Pure Vita Brand. She uses this brand religiously. I normally shop elsewhere at the P....mart, P....co stores but wanted higher quality food for my pets. I found the folks there to be friendly. They greeted me when I came in and asked me what I needed. They seemed knowledgeable and made different recommendations. They may be a little costly but they have a great selection and some of their items you can't find at the other stores. Don't know the specifics but I understand that they can also price match on some items. The manager's name is Zack and he was very nice and helpful. I really love this store! This pet store really cares about customer service to the fullest. I was interested in a certain flavor of Nature's Variety in the medium size bag and they only had Lamb and Oatmeal in the smaller bag. Because they pride themselves on customer service they discounted the smaller bag for me because of the inconvenience and ordered me the medium bag that they are also giving me a discount on. I THINK THAT IS AWESOME! They also donate any returned bags of food the the animal shelter and I think that is pretty amazing :) read more

this place is AMAZING!! i'm surprised it has 3.5 stars. i disagree 100% with that! i've been in here about 5 times and each time has been wonderful!! i always get greeted when i walk in and i am asked if i can be helped in anyway! they always follow up again when i wander for a while :) my puppy has the most sensitive stomach and grandma maes dog food has worked wonders! the last time i was in there(today), anthony helped me while i looked for a harness that fit my girl and asked if he could give her a couple healthy treats in which i agreed that was ok and thanked him. he also insisted he carry out the large bag of dog food for us which was so sweet! my puppy, betsey, gave him kisses (which is rare cuz she is still little and normally hides behind me when someone gets close to her lol but she has gotten better). thank you, anthony!! we will be back soon. read more
