I found my forever dog, Malta, from Saving Sage. They run a legitimate and credible adoption for its rescues. Malta's previous owners were deported to Venezuela and Malta is a one year old in search of her human. I was lucky and on March 17 Malta and I met. at first sight! We found Halliekat, now Tallulah, thru Saving Sage Rescue--under the umbrella website Petfinder.com. she was an orphan kitten found in Miami at 1 week old. When we adopted her she was 4 months old-- healthy, happy, loving, well adjusted, spayed, and all vaccines administered. She had been living in foster care as she recovered from her birth trauma and had incredible loving care and a stable environment. I am forever grateful for the early care this little darling received. Now she is ours and is the most loving, affectionate, healthy, adorable little being. In the summer of 2023, I fostered five kittens for Saving Sage. Two of these kittens, who were beautiful and bright orange, were accepted for transport to New Hampshire by plane. The remaining three kittens, who were gray and more shy, were offered placement at a PetSmart store in Weston. I found three potential adopters from the local Russian-speaking community, all of whom were qualified and capable of adopting these three kittens. Despite the ideal applications from these families, Michelle Storch Reichler, a representative and one of the directors at Saving Sage, refused to consider their applications for these specific kittens. Instead, she insisted that the three extremely shy kittens be placed in open cages at PetSmart in Weston. These cages were located below the store's loudspeakers and near the entry door, where shopping carts are slammed constantly by patrons and employees. This environment was highly stressful for the shy kittens, who could have been adopted into quiet homes within the neighborhood where they were fostered in Hollywood, FL., where they already had potential adopters. Despite the suitability of the potential adopters, Michelle stated that it may take WEEKS to approve their applications. Consequently, the three kittens had to endure fear and stress until she found time to approve the perfectly suitable adopters. Additionally, one of Michelle's representatives at Saving Sage contacted all the potential adopters who had applied for these kittens and informed them that the kittens were no longer available, suggesting they chose other kittens from the SS website. This was despite the fact that the potential adopters had already met the kittens at our house and specifically wanted to adopt them. The potential adopters who were initially refused and redirected by Michelle to choose other SS kittens are now happily sending me regular updates about the kittens, who have grown into healthy adult cats. Even a year later, I still wonder what her purpose was in creating such complications. Michelle also questioned me about how I found these potential adoptive parents and informed me that I was prohibited from communicating with them, even though they had already visited my home to meet the kittens. It looks like Michelle's personal priorities may not always align with the best interests of the cats. Before COVID-19, Saving Sage was an unsanitary establishment on the verge of closing. The same individuals who ran this rundown establishment are still in charge. Please use caution whenever you adopt from them or you decide to foster them. read more

Beware!! I adopted a kitty from here and she had ringworm. One of the ladies told me she didn't have it and that it was confirmed by the vet. Six days later I texted the owner and asked about it because the kitty had some scabs that seemed to be spreading that I was concerned about. She said "It started glowing on one of the kittens so yes it's ringworm" and to go pick up meds. This was 6 days after I adopted the kitty! That means 6 days of the kitty in my home sleeping with my son, sleeping with me and being around my dog. Not to mention i had to reach out to her to find this out! I gave the kitty back the next day. Which broke my son's heart on top of everything else. But, I had to prioritize my families health. Needless to say, my entire household now has ringworm. And my son's father's house as well since he was a over there before we knew he had it. It has spread like wildfire. I have spend hundreds in doctors bills, medicines both prescription and over the counter. This has been a literal nightmare. Doctor said it will take a minimum of 4 weeks to get rid of and that's if we are lucky. When I texted the owner she didn't even respond. I am disgusted that this would occur and I truly hope this doesn't happen to another family. read more

We have found stray dogs and cats/kittens on multiple occasions over the past 3-7 years, and tried giving them to Saving Sage every time, but they never take them!!! What kind of animal rescue doesn't accept animals??? We had to leave them at the Humane Society instead. The most recent were three sick kittens abandoned by the mother that, since they wouldn't take them for medical attention, one of them died. We finally found another place to take them. I originally reached out to Saving Sage. Animal Rescue to see if they would be able to help with rehoming my pet. I was able to speak with someone named Michele from the foundation, she was so rude and condescending. I sent an email explaining my situation and yet she wanted to give me a lecture. Instead of saying we can't help or let me point you in another direction, she just wanted to make my situation a matter of negligence. Which is not the case at all. That is why I reached out in the first place. With just this Interaction Saving Sage is not what I read about on there website and it's definitely not a place where help can be provided. read more

BEWARE! THIS FACILITY IS A SCAM! IF YOU LIVE IN BROWARD COUNTY, GO TO BROWARD COUNTY ANIMAL CARE! Me and many other people have tried getting help from Saving Sage and they fail to respond or even worry about the seriousness of the matter. I tried calling for 3 days straight during different open business hours just to get the same "mailbox is full" message (super sketchy). I even sent an email where I clearly stated my urgency because I was in desperate need of a foster parent to take in my kittens. Mama Cat was not producing milk and I do not have knowledge, time or training to provide for these kittens. By the time next Monday came around, multiple emails sent with no one reply and within days, 4 out of 6 of my kittens died. I stressed how adamant I was about giving these kittens a shot at life. I was informed by a neighbor that I could drop them off at the Broward County Animal Care center and they would be taken care of. Luckily, they were able to help me with the remaining 2 kittens, took them in for emergency care right away with no hesitation. One of the girls working there told me that Fading Kitten Syndrome is horrifying and showed her sympathy for me over what I went through with these kittens. It is a real shame that Saving Sage did not want to save my kittens. Broward Country Animal Care turned out to be a great place if you are looking for REAL help. Although it was almost too late (in my case), they provided me with great information and a list of fosters available to help if the kittens were to survive. So sad. I am not the type of person to swear and excuse my language but FUCK this place. 0 stars if I could. To Michelle & useless staff: It's a very hot place where you guys are heading :) So pray to God that he forgives this atrocity of a "service" you guys claim to provide. read more

For the past 3 weeks, Saving Sage has been helping the community with food for our pets. The staff is super friendly and eager to help in this time of uncertainty and crisis. They have donations for our pets such as food for cats dry and wet and for our dogs as well as flea medication. I'm very grateful for their help and for seeing their generosity and love for our pets. Very rude staff!! After adopting an older cat and having many (non health related) complications I had to give her up. I heard great things about saving sage so I decided to take her there. They were so beyond rude, yelling at my boyfriend and refusing to give us our cage back even though we gave then all of her (the cat) other stuff to them. I am completely shocked at how rude they were! The cat is very nice, loving, and sweet. The bite was an accident after I was trying to clean her face. After that I was nervous around her and I knew I could no longer give her the best life. That is why I chose to give her up but now I am worried she will have a worse life because of how rude they were. Hopefully they don't treat their animals the same way they treat the people. read more

The Seminole Tribe closed a mobile home park and residents were forced to leave their homes. A lot of them abandoned the cats they were caring for. I reached out to several organizations for help to save the lives of these babies. Saving Sage stepped up to the plate to offer assistance to help with trapping and vetting these cats. The ladies running this organization are thoughtful and caring. So if you can donate cat food, litter, blankets, towels, pee pads, $$, your donations are well spent. read more

I adopted a cat and volunteered at what seemed to be a lovable and compassionate rescue. That was on the surface and on social media only. As an adopter I am heartbroken that my cat that my kids and I fell in love with died. Gina was the kindest until I told her the cat was sick she then got mad saying " a cat's health is unpredictable! what are you saying about my rescue?" I felt I had to help organize and volunteer because she was always overwhelmed and anxious but that broke my heart even more. I witnessed her neglecting veterinary and medical care to sick and critical cats. She and her volunteers played doctor without washing hands and no experience and several even died. $1030.00 later, a broken heart from my cat's loss, and a broken heart from the neglect and cruelty I witnessed I URGE YOU PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM SAVING SAGE & God willing may they get shut down read more

We adopted our Ana Rose, Aka: Mermaid on July 16th. The foster mom had been keeping this litter out on her patio enclosure. We never did a meet and greet at her home prior to adopting Ana. Ana was very skinny. We'd only had her abt. a month when we got sick to her stomach. I took her to our family vet of 20 yrs. he said, "You've adopted a very sick kitten! Ana's temp is 106 which is very high." He gave her injections daily for several days to bring down her temp. That med only last for 24 hrs. Then we tried the pill form. Each day Ana was taken to test her temp. Her temp remained high after the treatments. We now have her on two different antibiotics. Finally, her temp is good. But she's still on the antibiotics. Our vet did every test he could and found nothing. Nothing but this horrible high temp. I feel since we have had Ana for such a short time she must have been ill when we adopted her from Saving Sage Rescue. The foster mom even commented that she had not had a good appetite in 2 or 3 days the day she brought Ana to our home. We love her and are trying to give Ana the best care, love and treatment to get her back to healthy normal life again. She has gained weight from 2 lbs. 10 oz. to 4.6 lbs.! I feel that some of these rescues are in it for their own glory and not necessarily the well being of these animals! read more

I met this AMAZING animal rescue organization the day before hurricane Irma hit South Florida. You see, I have 7 animals and my home was being evacuated and I had no where to go with my family and my 7 pets. It was either leave my animals and go to a shelter or stay with them not knowing what we were about to face with a category 5 storm approaching. I didn't want to leave my animals. I was frantic until someone told me to call Gina and gave me her number. Gina was at her facility with over 300 animals. I called her desperate. Gina the president not only answered my call but genuinely cared about our wellbeing. She told me "Its not the Hilton, but its safe. come now!" she opened the shelter doors to my family and all 7 of our pets. when we arrived she had an exam room in part of the hospital converted into a room for our family and animals to all stay together instead of cages. I was a stranger, who does that? I watched Gina and her entire team go above and beyond helping every person and animal they could. I personally witnessed Gina stay through the storm with her own children and all of the homeless people and animals she could fit. talk about a Noah's Ark! I was there for three days and personally witnessed Gina relentlessly comforting every single animal in this over flowing facility. I saw such compassion and love over those three days. Saving Sage is amazing and I will forever be a fan. I am grateful that They opened their doors, shared food, shared laughs and literally kept all of us safe. I am now a volunteer and try to help this amazing group whenever I can. If you want your faith in humanity renewed come volunteer at saving sage and meet a true group of animal heroes.
