One of my favorite local restaurants--the food and drinks are always delicious, which is why I was especially disappointed by the service during our most recent visit. We had a party of ten, and unfortunately, our server, Patrick, made several comments throughout the evening that came across as rude and dismissive. It started when we ordered our drinks, as he seemed annoyed that everyone ordered something different. While I understand that a large party can be more work, the way he reacted made us feel as though we were inconveniencing him simply by placing our orders. Throughout the meal, we frequently had to ask the busser for basic things such as straws, water, and napkins. At one point, our server also spilled our martinis, which added to the frustration. When we ordered another round, we tried to make things easier by ordering the same drink for everyone, yet he continued to act as though serving our table was an inconvenience. Because everything was taking so long, we ultimately decided to skip dessert. We were celebrating a birthday, and Patrick was kind enough to bring out a dessert on the house, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, he followed it with another unnecessary comment: "Oh, now you're hungry for dessert?" After an already frustrating experience, that comment left a particularly bad taste in my mouth. I genuinely enjoy this restaurant and have always loved the food and drinks, but the service we received this time was disappointing. My husband and I went recently for our anniversary. As It was a Tuesday night, made a reservation, but they were very happy to see us early. Had a nice pour of Cabernet at the bar first . After having a delicious glass of wine, my husband and I were seated at our table where we were served one of the best meals I've had in a long time.! I ordered the stuff flounder and my husband ordered the veal Parmesan. Both dishes were presented beautifully, and my husband cleared his plate, even using the table bread for the leftover sauce.. living in the area. I can't believe I waited this long to come back. Service was amazing. Definitely recommend...food and atmosphere were incredible! We've seen the doors closed many years ago and so glad they reopened and kept it in the family. Always have a great meal at Savino's. Food is so delicious! We were thrilled to land last minute NYE dinner reservation due to cancellations. We started with a drink in bar area. Pretty crowded at 6:30 (expected) We were seated ahead of our reservation time, I'm sure to get us in & out as quick as possible. But we were not rushed at all. We were so fortunate to be in the small room in the front..which is significantly quieter and more intimate than rest of place. My only knock on Savino's is: it gets extremely loud when crowded. Enjoyed Calamari and grilled octopus apps. Calamari was delicious but a little chewy. Happens sometimes. Dinner I had an amazing swordfish with crab meat & bearnaise sauce on top. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Enjoyed immensely! Husband had stuffed flounder, other friend papardelle with seafood, and lastly chicken Franchese. Everyone loved their food. My family and I had a great time celebrating hubby's 82 year old aunt's engagement. We had a private event space with plenty of room for mingling. Briana was our server and she was very attentive. We started off with a choice of salads and soup. I opted for their Caesar salad but was disappointed that it wasn't a true Ceasar. It was just romaine lettuce with Caesar dressing and croutons. Our kiddo opted for the stracciatella soup but didn't care for it. I had some and it was slightly salty but it tasted good. They allowed my daughter to order from the kids menu and she went with spaghetti and meatballs, and loved it. I had their chicken francese, which was OK. My MIL had flounder francese and hubby had the chicken parm. Everyone was happy with their dish. The portions were large and the flavors were decent. When it was time for cake, they served us coffee with our dessert. We were able to order additional drinks from the bar with no issue. Everyone was happy with the event. We did not want for anything. Came here for my dad's birthday, we all enjoyed ourselves. To start we had the baked clams and calamari, the baked clams were nice and golden. For my entree I got scallops oreganata and it came with risotto and veggies, it was so delicious and the perfect portion. The drinks were also really good. The ambiance is very nice. Big spacious bar area, and the noise didn't permeate into the dining area. Big plus. The staff is all very nice and attentive - from Jenn the hostess to Johnny our waiter and the very nice bus person who kept out water filled up always lol. Food was a bit inconsistent. We had grilled calamari arrabiatti style. The calamari from piece to piece was different- texturally they didn't match. It was a bit off putting but we ate most of it anyway because some were pretty good. Gluten free penne à la vodka was good - it's funny, when you go to a restaurant, most times you get so much food you are like who the hell is going to eat all of that, but when you don't get a huge portion, you are like - why the hell isn't it a gargantuan portion?!? This fell towards the latter - probably exactly a portion size. It was a good gluten free pasta. Chicken Paillard was the other dish we ordered- the actual chicken was delicious- very well seasoned and cooked. The rest of the salad was just okay - I've had Paillard may times and this was a disjointed version of it. The celery was a nice touch. Probably more of a 3.5 star experience because 4 is pretty high, and there really wasn't much that wasn't pretty good. Would return. Would also dine at the bar. read more

Although the food itself was okay, the service was terrible. Our waitress (Cheryl) was incredibly rude and the experience was unpleasant. We arrived with a party of 8 of family and friends. After around 5-10 min of being seated the waitress came over to take our order. We asked for a few more minutes as not everyone had decided on a dish - she rolled her eyes and walked away without a word. After eventually taking our order, we asked if she could take a group photo for us. One of the teens at the table was having a bad day so he didn't smile for the picture. Then she said, "Did you get beat as a child?" right in front of him and his parents. We were all shocked at her comment. As for the food: Sea Scallops Oreganata: 4/5 The risotto was super flavorful and the scallops were delicious as well. My favorite dish of the night. Chicken Marsala: 3/5 I think this dish was pretty average - just regular chicken marsala. White Clam Sauce Linguini: 2/5 The pasta was way too oily and had too much lemon in my opinion. Overall, food was average but the service ruined my experience. The only thing saving this from being a one star review is the fact that the food wasn't bad. Five stars for service. Three stars for food. My husband and I came here for Valentine's Day. We had a 7pm reservation but we were running a bit early and arrived at 6:30. They happily escorted us to a table in the back room. It was quaint, cozy and dimly lit - the perfect Valentine's Day vibe! The second we sat down we were asked our drink order. How could I know what I want when I just sat down? We weren't even handed drinks menus which I had to ask for. The bread that arrived to our table was absolutely delicious but we wanted to try the garlic bread. It came out in a huge loaf which was perfect for next-day leftovers. It was warm and fresh! The calamari that arrived was great but I prefer breaded calamari. For my entree, I ordered the penne a la vodka. It was steaming hot which was great but took forever to cook down to eat. My husband enjoyed his meal. We ordered the chocolate lava cake with chocolate ice cream which was yummy. Our waiter went missing multiple times throughout our meal. After waiting 15 minutes after dessert, our waiter was nowhere to be found so I asked another waiter for our check. It was an enjoyable meal. Service could have been better. read more

This was one of the best meals I have had all year. We went there to celebrate my birthday dinner on New Years Eve. It was crowded but we did get seated pretty quickly with the reservation which was nice. The food was phenomenal and I loved that we were able to sit in the back room because it was a quieter experience. The restaurant was decorated beautifully still from the Christmas season. I went to Savino's Hideaway for the first time this past Saturday. What a fun, cozy but also busy with a touch of country class atmosphere! The wait staff was young and made a couple minor mistakes. I could easily overlook them though because they were friendly, engaging and did a nice job considering how busy they were. My lady enjoyed the chicken parm which is her go-to at most Italian restaurants. My red snapper was spectacular along with the delicious side of risotto. Savinos Hideaway is a throwback to a time when lunch during the week was an event to be savored. We enjoyed a cocktail at the bar before being seated. The ambiance in the bar area is spectacular. My friend and I were seated at a window view table in one of the smaller dining rooms. We sat and enjoyed a well paced and delicious lunch that we lingered over for almost three hours. Service was attentive bit not obtrusive and never once did our server use the ubiquitous and annoying phrase "perfect" in response to a menu choice. The food (mussels, chicken Parm, eggplant rollatini) was outstanding. Overall, a great experience that will definitely result in many future visits. read more

The establishment began as a log cabin built in the thirties. The exterior of the restaurant maintains the log cabin appearance. While there is parking near the front, this is very limited. The main lot is several steps from the entrance. The outside rustic façade does not do the inside justice. The restaurant is large, bright and cheerful with an open floor plan. Our party of four was met by the maître d' Who promptly seated us in one of several large rooms with numerous tables well separated. The waitress promptly arrived with the menus, the ample wine and cocktail list, as well as the specials menu. As an appetizer we ordered *fried calamari*and *spiedini mozzarella alla Savino*. The calamari arrived hot and were sufficient for sampling among four people. The mozzarella, was lightly coated in panko bread crumbs and covered by a proprietary sauce that was exquisite. This too was sufficient for sampling among four. For a salad my wife and I split the *mista Verde*. As the name implies, the salad is a mixture of leafy greens topped with a sprinkle of parmigiano and a drizzle of the homemade Dijon vinaigrette. The greens were fresh, the parmigiano was appropriately dusted about the salad and the vinaigrette was savory. One serving is more than adequate for two. As an entree, I ordered the *zuppa di pesce*. A wonderful melange of scallops, little neck clams, mussels, shrimp, scungilli, and calamari served over a bed of linguini. To my delight, I had no difficulty substituting the mussels and scungilli with calamari. While I would have preferred to order a white wine for the fish dinner, the table decided to go with a red, a *Louis Martini Cabernet*, which turned out to be a good choice. The entree arrived moments after the table had been cleared of the salads. Only two words to describe the zuppa: abundant and delicious! A cautionary note: if you are not a fan of a rich, thick sauce covering your food, ask that the chef go light on the sauce. I am a fan of thick marinara so the generous coating was appreciated. In all honesty, if I had not given my wife a taste, I doubt I would have been able to finish the serving. As if this were not enough to crush my diet, for desert I ordered a *chocolate box cake* and a cup of coffee. The cake is layered with a semisweet chocolate mousse with a hefty helping of dark chocolate morsels scattered throughout. It was very good but too big of a portion to finish. Had it not been after seven in the evening I would have had another cup of coffee. Yes, the coffee is very good. Our waitresses was great! Takeaways: 1. Make a reservation. 2. Go hungry 3. Our second trip to Savino's was underwhelming. I so enjoyed our first time here so I was pretty disappointed. We started with calamari arrabbiata which was delicious. The portion was tremendous for $12. We also had mussels which I didn't try but they were very well received by the table. We asked our waitress to bring us more bread (which was delicious) for the leftover broth from the mussels, she said okay then proceeded to take the bowl of broth away and then never came back with more bread. Everyone in our party who ordered pasta loved their food but unfortunately I was not one of those people. My stuffed flounder was basically flavorless, although the risotto it came with was very good. I tried the carbonara and thought it was great. The drinks were inconsistent; my sister and I ordered the same drink and mine looked and tasted completely different. There was a lot of good and a lot of not so good about our experience, but the overall inconsistency is a turnoff. A positive however, it is very affordable. Perfect spot in the summer for dinner. The blackened salmon was good 8/10. My sister got the farfalle Primavera 10/10! So creamy and flavorful you can always add a protein as well. My memories of this place go back to Capt. Roman's inn. Back in the early 60's it was a great place to catch lunch. As. Life long resident of the area I've seen it go through several changes. Even a closure and reopening! One thing you could count on the food!!! It always tasted as it was made by someone who loved preparing it. My wife and I had our wedding dinner there. This past Valentine's Day we ate there and the food and service was excellent. The place does get loud but it's the sound of people talking and enjoying their meal. OK, so a few weeks ago we ordered clams casino and literally had to spit them out tonight gave them another try and got pasta that was severely overcooked along with a sub, par flounder francese Sat at the outside bar tonight and was the worst dining experience that I can recall- due to the fact they have a single bartender acting as waiter and bartender for for a large dining area.
