Came to Firehouse for the first time with my husband, our 7 month old son and another couple for an early dinner. Everything from start to finish was awesome. Our waitress (I believe her name was Nicole) was great. Very attentive and so sweet. We started with a pretzel which was delicious. It came with cheese sauce and honey mustard. I went here with my family for dinner and was very excited to try this new place out. The food online looked so good but in person it wasn't good. It was bland no flavor and it was dry. Service was very nice, but very slow. It was obvious they don't have enough staff because the waitresses were also the bartenders. Took way too long for the food to come. Brisket Mac & cheese I thought they gave us just plain Mac & cheese because you could not see any brisket. Waitress said it was mixed in. There was hardly any. Should be a decent pile you can see & taste on top. Italian wedding soup was excellent. Fish & chips I opted for mashed potatoes instead. Portion size was ok. It was crispy and tasty. Wanted to try a new pub I haven't been to, so I pulled up to Firehouse. Firehouse theme, which is fine. Went for lunch. Decided to get a honey mustard chicken sandwich with fries. Option to have fried chicken or grilled. I chose fried. Sandwich looked good, from a distance. I opened it up and it was literally two frozen chicken patty's on a bun. It didn't even cross my mind that I wouldn't be getting a kitchen made piece of fried chicken- one of the easiest things to make 'homemade'. I get it- restaurants use frozen items all of the time- fries, breaded wings- I will even say tenders are fine to get frozen, because kids are eating them. But a frozen chicken patty? This has to be the absolute laziest sandwich I have ever eaten. I ate the sandwich because I was hungry and didn't feel like walking out, but holy cow- how do you think buying frozen chicken patty's is what customers want? This is not snobbish- I can do that at home. People go out to have a restaurant experience that is not easily duplicated. I would not recommend this restaurant based on the laziness in the kitchen. Fries were fine. The bread for the sandwich was grilled on one side, cold on the other. Take that for what you want. The server who was the bartender did a fine job, no reflection on her. love this restaurant. I have eaten many things on the menu. love the Italian wedding soup, the nachos, the wings. I loved the salmon and my fav is pasta night with their Pasta in a cream sauce goat cheese and spinach. You have to end your meal with a lemon pound cake or my fav peanut butter brownie sundae. Firstly, I want to note that this is clearly a labor of love. The restaurant has long awaited the opening and it's only the first week. The vibe here is warm and welcoming. Staff are still getting their bearings. Expect long wait for service as they are still working out their kinks. I had their dip sandwich and my husband had a burger. We were served by a very nice waitress, but it was a bit of a wait for the food. I tried the chicken pot pie , but it wasn't very good. My husband did enjoy his rubin sandwich. The bill came, (it was a little expensive),but because we were in a rush to go pick up the kids,we didn't look the bill over. The waitress charged us a credit surcharge ,even though we paid with cash. I really wanted to love this place, but I won't be going back, or even recommending this place. My family and I visited the Firehouse Restaurant on Father's Day. We had a great time and experience. This hidden gem, nestled away within the suburbs of Sound Beach, was a delightful discovery. The establishment's story is bittersweet, which entails them losing their firefighter son, Lt. Joseph DiBernardo, in the line of duty back in November 2005. His loving family's tribute to him was to open a restaurant that honors his memory and selflessness. Firefighters from near and far come to visit this warm and friendly establishment while also paying tribute to a fallen hero. The menu offers a plethora of selections sure to please everyone's discerning palette. We all enjoyed our selections of meatballs, lobster rolls, turkey wraps, pulled pork, sweet potato fries (not listed on the menu), and those delicious homemade potato chips, which were an absolute hit but could have used just a little less salt for my taste but I would definitely order them again. The highlight of this dining experience was our very lovely, friendly, and accommodating server, Nicole. We would go back there just for her! In closing, we learned that there will be outdoor seating and live music once everything is established. This will certainly increase business and awareness of this diamond in the rough. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food is always pretty good and the atmosphere is nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], we've been there many times and the problem is the bartenders. They are the worst. There are two good bartenders, one is the young blonde I think she's part of the family and the other is an older guy named Lou. They pay attention and get you a drink when you're empty. The others make you sit there with an empty drink while they just talk with other staff. By far the worst is a woman I believe her name is Heidi. There were only 8 people at the bar and 5 sat there with empty drinks for what felt like an eternity while she was yapping with the staff. It was so aggravating. The owners should consider hiring some good bartenders who are attentive to the customer. read more

Stopped into the new Firehouse Restaurant tonight for dinner. There was a lil wait on a rainy Thursday night. The bar was hopping, TVs going and good music in the background. Wow what a job on the building and inside decor. My Family loved the Fire dept flair. We read the story about the owners son, and I must Say a Big Thank you for his service. God bless you. Now for the staff. Wow if all restaurants could be this way. The servers, bussers, bar tenders were amazing. Our waitress was an original from the old Hartlinn Inn back in the day. And she was great soo attentive and just real happy to be there doing her job. Our drinks never went empty. Our Table was constantly cleared and cleaned and there were a lot of local kids that the owners hired, which is great it keeps them off the street getting in trouble. All the staff again were great. Ok I guess most importantly. We go a lil smorgasbord. We tried the French Onion soup to start, with a Firehouse Nacho's with chilli, and firehouse, and Teriyaki wings. I will start with the soup. This hands down was one of the best French Onion soups to date. They actually had some crunchy fried croutons in the soup that gave it an amazing flavor, not too Mention the overload of onion and amazing oniony broth with that crisp burnt end cheese melted all Over the top of the crock. Needless to say I used my spoon to get every piece of that delicious cheese off the crock. The Nachos were super flavorful, and the chili topping was amazing, next time I will order just a whole bowl of that chili as well. The portion on the nachos could have been a "lil bigger" hint-hint, but it had amazing taste. As for the Chicken Wings. The firehouse flavor I loved nice a crispy and well sauced, I'm not usually a fan of teriyaki but they were quite good as well. My family devoured them. U need good wings in a pub style restaurant. These hit the mark with flavor and cook I only had 2 drumsticks out of the 12 and they were a lil on the small size, however they tasted great which counts the most. Ok now for the main course. We ordered 3 different sliders to try them, the meatball, the pulled Pork, and the cheese burger. This meal came with great crispy French fries a Delicious pickle and one of the best Coleslaws I have had, and I have had a lot :) We also ordered the brisket sandwich meal. I will Start with the sliders: oh my the pulled pork with coleslaw was an instant fight at our table as to who took a bigger bite. This slider was "Amazing" kudos to the chef. Down to the buttery brioche roll there was Not a crumb left. The meatball marinara slider was delicious as well but I personally liked the pulled pork just a bit better. However as Adam Sandler would say,"now that's a good meatball". Lastly on the slider platter was the cheeseburger. The small meat patty was well seasoned and tasted great. The brioche roll had a crispy bite to it as the chef hit it ever so slightly on the grill Thank you, Loved it!!! Now for the last plate we ordered was the brisket sandwich. This did Not disappoint. We have eaten good brisket at many of local "q" places and this can mix with some of the best. The fried onion in the sandwich gave it that extra crunch we wanted and the meat was tender and sauced to perfection. We will be back to try more items of the menu. Love the whole idea and very touched that the place is in memory of a fire fighter. We were really looking forward to trying this place out since we are locals to the area. Food was good and service as well. But one thing to be aware of. When our bill came it was not itemized. It was $240.00 and we were charging the bill so we added a $50 tip. Afterwards we asked if we can please see an itemized bill which if we did not ask for, we would have never known they already added the tip. We would have left a $100 tip!!! Just a heads up. While i was there i noticed there was one older man who seemed to be the owner and also a younger man maybe around 30, I believe the owners son, I noticed that they both were extremely hard and bossy to there employees especially the younger ones who were nothing but kind to us. Also coming from a fellow business owner if you want a successful business you need to treat your employees with respect. Me and my wife were extremely disgusted with the way these employees were treated. Please do better! read more

We had great hopes for the new Firehouse restaurant in Sound Beach. The theme and ambiance are excellent. However, the experience was far from stellar- we were greeted warmly enough and told we had arrived before the Monday evening rush(we arrived 540ish). We were seated quickly and given menus and some water. The waitress took our drink orders and put in apps-we had nachos, one cocktail and a diet coke. After multiple inquiries and after we had finished our app we finally got our beverages - at least 32 minutes. We had ordered our entrees much earlier and watched table after table receive their drinks, apps, and entrées before we were able to get our burgers and pot pie. Total of more than 45 minutes had expired. We ordered our burgers medium rare and they were both beyond well done -in fact one of the burgers was supposed to be a brunch burger with a sunny side up egg that was so rubbery that it was inedible. We sent it back uneaten. My husband's chicken pot pie was cold and unseasoned. The waitress, although apologetic, did make excuses for the drink stating that they had to go down to the basement to get the ingredients for one of their signature cocktails. At least those were removed from the bill. As I said, the restaurant was full, but not very busy, but it would seem to me that the food sat for a long period of time before service as the fries were not hot. The gentleman at the next table ordered a steak medium rare and his was well done and he sent it back. When we left the restaurant, he was still waiting for his meal to be redone and it was more than 20 minutes from when he sent it back. I am quite disappointed in this restaurant that to me, has great potential. I am far from being "a Karen" but the food was definitely not as advertised, and the service was definitely lacking. read more
