We stumbled into this place as we skipped lunch and desperate to go somewhere that opens at 4pm. This place showed up when I searched on Yelp opening restaurants near us. It's such a family friendly gem. We ordered some calamari to start with, and decided to try their platter for the variety. The dinner started with some fresh Greek salad, followed by the home made bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My daughter loved them, and had to ask for more. When the platter came, we couldn't believe how big it was. It included mousaka which is ground beef cooked with mash tomatoes and eggplant, chicken and beef souvlaki, dolmathes, spanakopita, tiropita, rice pilaf, roast potatoes, tzatziki , hummus, and pita bread. I have to say this portion can be shared amount three people at least. The flavor is pretty authentic and meat are cooked at the right temperature. I know a lot of people are skeptical about family dining places. However, this place made me feel safe and comfortable. I would recommend anyone with a large family to come and visit. read more

Restaurant is conveniently located with lots of seating and a big patio. Service was good. They bring out some super yummy buns with oil and vinegar. They were really good. They forgot about our Caesar salad that we ordered, but so did we until it was too late. My daughter and I shared the Fettuccine Alfredo, it was a large portion, but didn't taste like Alfredo. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't super good either. Tasted like a garlic cream sauce...kinda. My husband had the Pesto Penne. It was quite good. All in all, it was just okay. read more

This is a great small town authentic Greek/Italian restaurant. The food was delicious and the portions were large. Each night of the week has a drink special and the house wine for $8/glass is a bonus. The only reason not to get 5 stars was the service which was a bit slow even though we came early on a Friday evening. read more

I'm giving this 5 stars because I was genuinely impressed with how good the food was. This is an Italian-Greek restaurant in the middle of wine country. On our way to/from wineries we drove past Savvios and one of my friends insisted that it was so adorable we needed to stop. Sure, it looked pretty cute and there was a patio and it was a gorgeous day and we were starving. I just happen to be a little bit skeptical of unknown family restaurants that offer multiple cuisines. I wasn't about to be fussy so I went along and situated myself right in the sun on the patio. The menu was extensive, the Italian options consisted of pastas and the greek options had souvlakis and platters. There were steaks, sandwiches salads and other things too. This didn't seem to be an "authentic" handmade everything kind of place, I mean chicken fingers are on the menu. Accepting that, I was ready to embrace this meal as an 'it is what it is' kind of meal. Honestly, it was delicious! I ordered the pasta with curry sauce and it was served piping hot, heaping and delicious... with a side of garlic bread! This was exactly the comfort food you'd hope to dive into after an exhausting yet delightful day. Everything tasted fresh and used recipes that were tried and true. The heaping portions were definitely one of the highlights and it was all rather affordable. The decor inside has character but I'd say it's more kitschy charming than anything. The food was brought to us, no one asked how the food was and we didn't even get the chance to receive a second beverage or a water refill at all. This place is total crap. I was there Saturday with my family for dinner. Service was horrible, got most of the order wrong. The meat was over cooked and under seasoned, the veg were under cooked and had so much garlic on them that they were uneatable. The rice was like overcooked and looked more like paste than rice and the potatoes had so much lemon that it almost tasted like vinegar. The drinks were poorly mixed and there ceasar was so strong that it was undrinkable. For a place that has an average of 30 dollars a plate they should be embarrassed of the quality they put out. Add some drinks and a party of 4 is over 200 bux before tip. (Not that they deserved it but my dad gave one anyway) Rip off . I was stoked to get Greek food but i cant even call it that. Its a shit show of western , italian and greek. Lets just say if you are fine with being let down and over charged then this us your place but if you want to actually enjoy your meal and not get ripped off try anywhere else. 6/18/2012 What a pleasant surprise! We weren't expecting much in the way of dinner at 9:00 PM in Oliver, but when we saw Savvio's was open, we decided to give it a try. Our waitress could not have been nicer. We all chatted in foreign languages, and reminisced about our global galivanting. We started with a bottle of retsina. Scrabble players will note the significance of having retsina. Then came an appy of saganaki, which was extremely good, if a bit on the greasy side. Then came the GREEK FEAST FOR TWO. And this thing was an absolute feast: rice pilaf, chicken and beef souvlaki, dolmades, hummus, tzatziki, pita, spanakopita, two other kinds of pastries I didn't recognize, and that Greek version of shepherd's pie (the name escapes me). The feast was $55, and was easily enough for four people, so the price is definitely fair. Everything was juicy and delicious, and by no means did we finish the entire feast - but it made for fantastic leftovers the next morning! We were the only people in the restaurant, so we had great service, and weren't rushed out of the restaurant despite staying over an our after closing time. And the busboy was an SF Giants fan - how can I not give this place five stars? :) read more

What a cute place in town. The decor is Mediterranean, so all the usual accoutrement, fake vines, pillars, etc (grin) Greek and Italian food with a pretty big menu. It was hard to choose. I would recommend having a drink or eating here, as they do have entertainment (belly dance!) but I arranged to pick up and go. We were staying somewhere nice that I could eat outside on a deck, so nothing could beat that! read more

The food was pretty good and the portions were huge. Absolutely no complaints with that. However, I've never had such slow service in a restaurant that wasn't very busy. We were seated for 10 minutes before we were asked for our drink order. Later when getting my bill no one came back with the machine and I had to hunt someone down. Very cute family restaurant. Big space. The portions are huge here. We were warned. the Cesar salad was nice to share. We ordered the appetizer for 2 platter. More like for 4. What a gem! Dined on Savvios 3times in the last 1.5months since we moved here. Gyro, lamb chops, calamari, spaghetti... all very good. I have to mention the spaghetti Bolognese is the best I've ever had in a restaurant! Staff is friendly not pretentious, easy to laugh and joke. We had a very good meal here tonight, a Thursday, with efficient and friendly service. The food came out hot and quite fast. We had calamari and triptopita appetizers and greek salad and couldn't quite finish it all. We ate inside, nice old fashioned decor, and it was a bit cool so bring a sweater. read more

There was four of us for dinner. We had the lamb, ny steak, salmon, and chicken slovaki. While all the food was quite good and portions more than adequate, the service was lacking (read:sloooow). There was one other table occupied but still took 15min to take our order, 40min for the food to arrive, and about 15min to prepare and present the bill. The servers had some difficulty keeping our water glasses filled. Maybe we were expecting too much from the help, not sure. Three stars for the good food. read more

Reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because of the service. OMG for slow! I've been a server for most of my life and I have never received this slow of service. We sat for a good 10 min before getting menus ( yes she noticed us, she told us to sit where we wanted). There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. When we finally got to place our order we only had time to order food. She was gone before we could even get a drink order out. I noticed after she brought food to the other tables including ours she never went back to see if the meal was OK until everyone was just about done eating. I looked for her numerous times to order some drinks but she was nowhere to be found unless she come out to bring food. I heard other customers complaining about how long it took to get their bill so when she come to see how we were doing with our food I asked for the bill right there and paid immediately lol. She was very pleasant but I don't think too experienced. Other than that the food was amazing and the price was very reasonable for the amount of food on the plate. I was really impressed by the menu as well. We will definitely be going back but this time I'll make sure we have hours to spare. read more

Had driven out from Kelowna and was really looking forward to a nice bowl of pasta. The employees were super nice when my son and I came in, let us pick where to sit. Our server seemed somewhat new but I myself am a server so I was pretty understanding. My salad came out with croutons which I had said I didn't want. She blamed the kitchen yet was the one who ran the food out (should have noticed before running the food). Soon our mains came out, I ordered the penne pesto and my son chicken tenders. His was great, mine was just globs of pesto and basil ... so salty and gross. I had to flag down another server as mine hadn't quality checked us. She then went to the pass through and I could hear them talking about me and how annoying I am for sending back food. I instead just ordered the Alfredo and a second glass of wine. The wine never came, the Alfredo came off as was HANDS DOWN the worst Alfredo I've ever tasted in my life. I literally told her I'll pay for it just please give us the bill I wasn't goona try something a third time. Had to ask for cutlery twice .. anyways. They still charged me for the pasta that I didn't eat and they just threw out. PEOPLE ... DO NOT EAT HERE. It was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Fantastic Greek and Italian food. Great ambiance, friendly staff. Huge portions. My wife had Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. She said it was very good. I had the special, Kota Gemisti, which was oven baked chicken breast stuffed with spinach and feta cheese. OMG!! It was so good it was almost a religious experience. Restaurant was recommended by the Motel where we stayed and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. I ordered the Moussaka dish and my husband ordered the Lamb. Both dishes were luke warm at best. It is true that the portions were large, but quantity did not make up for the poor quality. The Moussaka was salty along with the potatoe (didn't even try the rice) while the Lamb had good seasoning it was not hot. The server was notified of the salty Moussaka dish and the kitchen was advised that only the greek salad would be eaten from the dish. My husband although hungry was only able to eat a bit of the lamb because it was not hot. When it came to pay we were advised that $5.00 would be deducted due to the salty Moussaka - Essentially we paid $20 for the Greek salad eaten from the Moussaka dish. Upon complaining we were advised that the issue was not the food but our palate!!! I explained that I am European and use to salt/seasoning and that the food was just not prepared correctly but still the server went on to say that it was my fault and not the kitchen's. I ended up paying $50 for two dishes that we did not eat and headed to Osoyoos. Needless to say the customer service was below par and we will not be eating there ever again. read more

Absolutely awful! My wife ordered a spaghetti dish and the spaghetti was so overcooked it was tasteless and the consistency led her to believe it was sitting in a pot of water all day. I ordered the chicken and was told it was white meat, a breast. I was served a chicken leg and thigh. REALLY? After complaining about the food we were told "Well that's the way he cooks it". I will NEVER go back and will tell all my friends of the experience. read more
