I'm just learning about Thai food. It's quite a complex cuisine. We'd heard this was a good place - it was ok. I had the Pad-See-Ew - a dish with chicken, noodles, and vegetables; The sauce was particularly tasty. My husband enjoyed one of the curries with tofu. Our daughter ordered a dish with rice noodles and beef; actually we switched dishes as hers was not satisfying. As they say on the cooking shows, it was not toothsome! Service was very good, but the atmosphere was not comfortable. The large of two rooms was way too cold; I had to order tea for us to get warm. Another party was very loud to the point of intrusive.

As good as 10 years ago! Glad to see this beautiful restaurant in business after so many years and still the same quality of service, food and consistency overall. It's BYOB - plan ahead! Love it.

Great Thai food near the beach. Table service in a small dining room. They also have a small sushi bar.

I stopped by this past Sunday , since I was craving Thai and wanted to try a new spot. Tucked away from the 71 St causeway and next to a municipal parking lot, Sawaddee seemed like a cool hidden gem for Thai cuisine. My final analysis: it's a cool neighborhood spot and if you're not in a hurry. I stuck to my usual dishes and have no complaints on the flavor. After getting my server's attention in a relatively empty restaurant, I started off with their steamed pork gyoza. The noodle's texture was just perfectly chewy, the greens fresh and the sauce delish. As it were, I ordered an extra sauce for my fried rice. While tasty, I was told I could get only a vegetable fried rice and not a chicken one. Their volcano chicken was my main dish, with kudos to the chef on the sauce as it was perfectly spicy! It was served on a bed of steamed vegetables and the sauce on the side. The tempura ice cream was yummy as well. Again, the food was pretty good. My only complaint was really on the time between dishes and getting attention.

Sawaddee is a small Thai restaurant in Normandy Village. Parking is available in the paid lot behind the building (it's free in the evening hours) and a few spots on the street. No alcohol is served. You enter and your nostrils are filled with the tangy aroma of fish sauce & various other savory scents-always a good sign. Like most FL Thai places, they have both Thai and sushi. Pre-Covid Sawaddee had a really good lunch menu at affordable prices. I haven't been here for lunch since the pandemic, so I don't know what it's like now, but will update my review when I do. I recently went for dinner. The entrees on their dinner menu are a bit pricey. However, we found some affordable apps to try as a meal-fried tofu, papaya salad, and Tom kha kai soup. I will be back soon for the papaya salad and soup. Get the papaya salad medium and the soup mild. The salad has a delicious, spicy kick and the soup cools down your taste buds with tasty flavors of coconut milk, fresh veggies, and chicken. I went on a night when the small dining room was almost full and there was an endless string of takeout orders. There was one person taking orders, working the register, taking orders, and running food....and service did not suffer!

One of the very best hidden gems in Miami. Always consistently good. Try the basil duck. No corkage fee. Highly recommended.

From the moment we arrived, the ambiance and location created the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. The food truly exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend the Miso Black Cod -- it was phenomenal and had the same rich, buttery texture as Chilean sea bass. Absolutely delicious. The Wagyu Burger was also outstanding -- freshly ground, high quality, and cooked perfectly. We also tried one of their sushi rolls topped with miso and filled with fresh tuna and salmon, and it was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Our server (I didn't catch her name -- an Asian woman, possibly in her 40s) was wonderful and made our experience even more enjoyable with her attentive and warm service. We truly loved this place and are already looking forward to coming back, especially to explore more of their sushi menu. Highly recommend!

They need to be a good sushi place to survive in this area but again like most places in the area charge 20% gratuity. This makes employees feel entitled and lose motivation to give good service. These are subsidies for the company to pay employees. The ambiance is actually good for this area. I would give 5 stars if the prices were more reasonable or if they actually had spectacular food. In any other city this would be decent sushi at half the price.

It was about a 10 minute walk from our AirBNB off Washington Ave and 12th. It was surprisingly empty, except for 2 other customers, so service was quick! Our server and sushi chef were pretty quiet, but that was okay. I loved the mural on the wall. We ordered a few different rolls including their special rolls, and everything was delicious! There was an additional 18% service charge on top of added in 20% automatic gratuity. Overall, happy with this sushi option in South Beach that we found on a whim.

I came in here after a night of looking at art and in search of a quick bite. I almost walked right past it, on the Monday night I went in there was no one in the restaurant. At first I thought it might have been closed. Once inside we were greeted right away and given menus. My friend doesn't really do sushi but she ordered the shrimp tempura roll and devoured it. I had the tuna Cali roll and I have to say it was fresh, simple, and delicious. The restaurant is rather small but gives a cozy feel. We sat at the sushi bar and got to see the chef masterfully prepare our rolls.

Even though I speak fluent Spanish, I constantly have a very hard time placing my order -- the staff simply can't seem to remember one simple order for three people that I've repeated for weeks. I really don't recommend anyone to visit this restaurant until they change their management and train their staff properly. It's a shame to see such unprofessional behavior in a place that could be so much better. The sushi bar experience is so fun, and I'm a total sucker for hand rolls -- these are sooo good. Lately I've been ordering them on Uber Eats a lot too, and they've officially made it into my sushi rotation (honestly... kinda my main spot now). You don't get the hand rolls on Uber Eats, but the rolls are super simple in the best way, and the fish always tastes fresh to me. Also shocked they're not ranked higher?? I was NOT aware that their version of complimentary meant you are required to pay for it-- otherwise I would have politely declined. Docking 2 stars for that. Other than that small deception souring my overall experience, the fish itself was fresh and tasty, flavors not super unique and leaning more to a traditional flavor. I was informed their fish is all real and fresh, so I even tried the blue crab hand roll, as well as the lobster yuzu, tuna, and yellowtail. The lobster yuzu and crab were both equally a pleasant surprise though Im glad I only ordered one of each. Came around 4pm and was pretty quiet, so great place for a solo date or even a lunch meet. All things considering, I appreciate variety so $5 for a Happy Hour hand roll that has about 3 bites in it is fairly decently priced, though I did need at least 5 hand rolls to feel full.
