Possibly the best tom Kai gee I've ever had and an excellent crispy duck...all for less than 20$ at lunch

PARENTS WEEKEND ADVENTURE!!! Went down to St. Pete/Treasure island for the weekend. Many reviews coming!!! We start with Sawatdee Thai & Sushi!!! We were excited to find a Sushi place a few doors down from where we were starting our weekend with a New Japanese HeadSpa Experience. (Checkout that review as well) We just wanted a quick roll to get something in our stomachs. The interior was nice and clean. It was themed nicely with touches of Asian elements. The Service was great as well. There was no one in the pace as we were there around 1-1:30 on a Friday, but we did see to go orders being picked up. The server was very nice and attentive to us through the meal. The challenge came with the sushi. The rice was hot not cold or room temp. I watched the sushi maker put a thing of rice in the microwave, but I thought that was to replace what she was using to make our sushi, but... NOPE it was for our dishes. It really turned my wife's 2 California rolls and my specialty curry heat = Spicy Salmon roll into the worst sushi we have ever had. The sushi roller needs to realize you should never use warm rice for sushi. We let it sit for a couple minutes to get the rice to be a cooler temp. Then once they were palatable, we ate them. The fish was fresh, but not spicy at all. The roe was such a small portion on the end pieces of the roll. Roe should be spread across all the pieces when it says it's part of the roll. Food to Value ratio: ok. If the rice and citrus heat were as they should have been it would have been a better Value. We paid 40$ with tip for 1 specialty roll and 2 California rolls. I paid less for the same meal at other places around St. Pete. We will most likely hit one of those spots next time, but... AS ALWAYS TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!!! read more

I came here for lunch on Memorial Day, and since it was a holiday they were not offering the lunch special menu. I went with the Island Dream roll, which was unique but unfortunately was lacking in flavor. I liked the coconut on top but it just needed something else to spice it up, especially for being a bit expensive. The service was alright, food came out pretty quick but our server wasn't very friendly. The inside was a pretty typical small sushi place, with nice decorations and a decent amount of seating. read more

I have to say this is the best Thai I've had in a while! Now I did order delivery so I can't speak to service but... The food was Soo good. The crab Rangoon was nice and crispy and had plenty of stuffing. The pad Thai, with sweet potato noodles was a surprise but a very pleasant one. Huge serving (IMHO) I got 3 meals out of it. Food was packaged up nicely, with care. There was a doily under the Rangoon! Aluminum under the pad Thai so it was nice and hot (I'm 20 mins away) Found a new Thai spot! read more

Had a taste for sushi rolls, & came across this place. They had a good selection of food options for my hubby and I. Prices were pretty decent too. Once we came, they let us know we can sit wherever we want. It was a Sunday afternoon, so there were about four other groups there. It's about a small to medium size restaurant and it didn't feel crowded to me. This restaurant is in the same plaza as the Korean BBQ restaurant which we have also been to before. There was quite a bit of options of Thai dishes that were meat and seafood for both of us. I picked out the steamed mussels under the apps and asked for a side of rice which was free. Also I had a crunchy roll. They were both very good. The rolls look like a lot of rolls. They slice them smaller. My husband had the pad kee mao (drunken noodles with beef) His dish was very good as well and had a good amount of meat. Our server was nice, as well as the others that worked there. We would definitely be back. I would love to come during lunch time during the week since their menu for lunch had a good variety. The lunch menu is not served on the weekend. I would love to try their other seafood options here. They seem to have more compared to other places. read more

I've eaten here a handful of times and have ordered take out before. It's just okay, definitely not to my taste. The food doesn't have enough flavor for me and the pad Thai is overly sweet. Sushi that my friend ordered was okay the last time we were here. Service is friendly but a bit slow the times we were in. The Pad Kee Mao is incredibly good, especially if it's ordered spicy, and so is the Pas See Ew and the Mixed Vegetables with Chicken. Looking for a nice clean local Thai restaurant...this is the place. The staff immediately greeted me and were smiling and delightful. The sushi chef allowed me to let her be the choice. I went with a Spicy Tuna Hand roll and a California hand roll. They were both fresh and presented well. I also chose the Tom Yum Sum Bok soup ...Thai Hot ...heavenly and hot as hell!! Unfortunately I was looking to replace my favorite Thai place that I had been dining at since moving to Pinellas Park. I don't think this place will suffice. Though wonderful staff, clean and reasonably priced. The actual food was a mere satisfactory experience. Was missing the burst of flavors Thai food usually have. My veggie Thai fried was good but would have been better if I received it Thai hot like requested. Not sure what type of spring veggie rolls I got. But the chewy wrapping was a definite miss for me. Maybe the meat items are best? That you will have to experience for yourself. read more

Pretty Good Thai In my opinion, a Thai restaurant must get at least two things right: Tom Kha Gai and Pad Thai. Sawatdee does well with the Tom Kha Gai--good flavor, tender chicken. The Pad Thai wasn't quite as successful. It needed a fuller, richer flavor. Instead, it fell a bit flat. We also had a Chicken Red Curry which was good. The atmosphere is pleasant enough and the server was good. I would go again. read more

Baby octopus salad is uncommon- glad it was on menu. House salad with ginger dressing was fresh. Shrimp pad Thai noodles was southern style--which is not my favorite. I accidentally passed the thai place I was on my way to and was too lazy to u-turn when I saw this one and pulled in, it was meant to be! I ordered a to-go noodle dish pad sea-eaw and Pam was super sweet I couldn't decide on the protein she said her favorite was the beef but I could pick a combo if I wanted. I stuck with her suggestion and it was A. So much food, B. So delicious and C. The right choice there was tons of beef and it was tender, flavorful, and SAUCYYY. It was ready in less than 10 minutes and the noodles were perfectly chewy (oftentimes too done when to-go from other spots with similar dishes) while the veggies were nice and crisp. I enjoyed it so much I came back to dine-in a few days later-Christmas day actually, where the server helped me choose a few new items to try. I've had chicken tom kha gai soup but never with shrimp, there were 4 or 5 Huge juicy shrimp in my little cup and it was HIGHLY recommended. I also had the Nam Sod 8/10 which can be adjusted for spice level, lots and lots of onion as a warning for those on a date with someone other than Shrek. I had the Arizona roll which is the only time I've ever had sushi that had whole fish bones inside, after my second piece with a thick full fish bone in the yellowtail I politely let the server know I was good on that and he was sweet enough to remove it from the bill before presenting it. I imagine this was probably a once off fluke so not deducting a star for a whoopsie doopsie. read more

Went because of yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint! The restaurant was clean and the staff was very nice! Ordered the crab Rangoon and the dragon roll, and my mom ordered the dynamite roll. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful! Very fresh sushi rolled right in house! I am eating leftovers for lunch today and I have to say that they are even better than yesterday. We ordered through Uber Eats. I love Thai food but have found many places to have been "americanized". We got the Pad Thai Tofu and Mud Sa Mon Curry with beef. There were a couple items we could do without. The Fried Tofu didn't travel well. Wonton Soup was average. There are several closer options but I can't help but want to go out of my way to eat this again. read more

Wonderful experience dining at Sawatdee tonight! Went with my husband and 1 year old son. Our server, Pam, was so sweet and accommodating to us. The food was delicious! The Mad Sa Man curry was fantastic and my husband really enjoyed his Pad Prik. We can't wait to come back for more! read more

Sawatdee Thai in Oregon was soooooo tasty(you should stop in if you are in Oregon Wine Country)...this one however, in Pinellas Park kind of misses. Maybe it's just me, or maybe I need a decent rant, but WHY do all Thai places in the greater Tampa area serve sushi as well?!? I mean, what am I missing? NOT a great combo! should be thai, or should be sushi, OR you are serving Tushi lol. Anyway, the food....right...I mean, the curry was ok. Ordered mild, was not lol. I have tried a few of their dishes, but in the end, it's just quite what it should be. The thai, tastes a little like sushi! Nooooooo! Average. If you are craving thai, this place will do, just don't expect too much and you'll be fine. read more

Best Thai food I have had so far. This is a small hidden spot not far from 49th st. that's offers phenomenal Thai and sushi. Doesn't look like much from the road but you should definitely stop in. They have quite a large menu that has a wide selection of options to suit anyone. For my first time here we tried some soup, the spring rolls, pad sea-eaw, house special pad Thai, and banana coins for dessert. All of the food was amazing! The staff was very nice and accommodating and I loved the intimate environment inside of the restaurant. They also had a sign that showed great sushi deals for weekday lunch that I plan on going back for. This was recommended to me by a friend and I will definitely by passing the recommendation onto others. This is a hidden gem that is a must try. read more

Brought a friend here for vacation and he is willing to come back just for the food. Yum seafood was fresh with bold flavors and the panang crispy duck was phenomenal. Alot of Thai restaurants in st.pete but places like Sawatdee are authentic, and its more than money when it comes to the food they serve. read more

Turned around and left, after literally being kicked out, AND THE OWNER CHASED US OUT YELLING US TO FUCK OFF. if u think that's bad, her DAUGHTER is even worse!!! Visited from out of town and was in the mood for Thai and sushi. This place didn't disappoint. Nigiri was a little smaller than I expected but the fish quality was on point. Had egg rolls and red curry as well - it tasted as authentic as any Thai food I've had from out of state. Most curry sauce is too watery and skimps on ingredients. I've had their food twice, once takeout and once eating in. Both times had pad thai and it was delicious. Prices are very fair and it was pretty dead both times I visited so you're likely to get prompt service. Sadly this might mean they go out of business if it's too slow but hopefully not, they are nice and the food is great! read more

Got take out here for the first time today. Ordering online was easy and food was ready promptly. I ordered Pad Thai with Shrimp, medium heat. Flavor was good and their medium had a nice kick. I would have liked to have lime wedges included--I didn't think to ask because I thought it was standard for the dish. I also would have liked more chunks of green onion and a little pan sear on the shrimp--they just tasted boiled. Portion was generous. read more

Picked up a Doordash to go order and I'll have to admit, I am a little disappointed. Even with the discount that prompted me to check them out in the first place. I ordered 4 specialty rolls, a tuna tataki, an order of the papaya salad, and a chicken satay. Everything was delicious although I felt the tuna tataki was pretty bland and boring as it didn't even come with a ponzu or any sauce. What disappoints me is that the portion sizes were incredibly small. The rolls were very small. The chicken skewers were very small, and the tuna was maybe 2 oz sliced thin. I ordered here because of all the wonderful pictures on Yelp and Google and the rolls and satay looked way bigger! Maybe they don't give you the same portion with to go orders, but if that's the case it's a shame because they certainly charge the same! The papaya salad was the only thing that was perfect size, and it was a pretty decent representation of it although it could have used a little kick. The 4 rolls I ordered were delicious, and the quality is there, it's just a shame that a dinner for two at almost $100 didn't fill us up. I will give them another shot, maybe dine in one day and I will readjust my review if it wows me, but for now I'll just go to my trusted and consistent spots for an expensive to go order. read more

You'd think it would be impossible to make Thai food bland and boring, but this place pulls it off. My wife ordered the red curry with beef. I ordered a noodle dish with tofu. Both were under seasoned and boring. Mine was supposed to be medium spice, but it had none. And instead of the sambal olek chili paste I ordered on the side, I got a few pickled jalapeños. When I'm craving Thai food, I want those bright, bold flavors and usually some heat. Just didn't get it here. read more

It's taken me a while to find a great Thai place in St. Pete, Sawatdee did not disappoint! Ordered takeout, food was hot and fresh. My husband ordered chicken pad Thai and I got pad kee mao (spicy drunken noodles), both were delicious and the portions were large. Lots of fresh veggies and Thai basil making the dishes light while still filling and tasty. I also ordered curry puffs which I probably wouldn't order them again because they were about 70% dough and 30% filling, shaped more like a crab Rangoon than a traditional fat, puffy, flaky curry puff. We were craving Thai and we stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant! We discovered they have been opened for four months and they have the same recipes as Lana Thai. The service is superb and everything tasted delicious. We got the crab Rangoon which had a bit of curry in the stuffing. The flavor was good except it could have been fried a bit more, the skin was still a bit chewy. The drunken noodles were cooked to perfection, some places it's too dry and not flavorful enough but not here! My husband loved their red curry and he asked for a second portion of white rice. We went on Saturday for lunch so they only had dinner portions. I think the lunch portions are only for the weekdays. This is definitely a must try and we will be going back for sure! read more
