This restaurant has really great decor and very friendly waitresses. On a Wednesday afternoon at 5:45pm, most tables were already occupied. It is a hopping place. Do not get the salmon!!! I repeat do not get the salmon!!! The salmon at sawmill was absolutely the most disgusting piece of "fish" (I wouldn't even call it fish) I have ever eaten. First of all I have worked in many fine dining and 5 star restaurants before. However, this one takes the cake. They advertise on the menu as 2 filets of salmon with your entree. When they bring it out, the shape of it looks a little peculiar (perfectly square and rounded edges.) I have never seen anything like this other than it being frozen from a bag. Who the HELL sells FROZEN SALMON FROM A BAG in a restaurant!?!?! That is a no-no for this industry. Especially when their charging 13$ for a "fish" that taste like cardboard....c'mon. People deserve fresh seafood not "fish" that comes from a frozen isle @ your local supermarket. Although, I hated the "fish" I can't knock them for their fries, chicken fingers, and some of their burgers. Which is why a I gave them 2 stars. Sawmill why are you making everything else fresh and selling frozen salmon filets to your guests?!?! That is so wrong on all levels!!!!! read more

We will DEFINITELY be back! The wait was only half of what we were told it would be. The atmosphere was classy, yet country and laid back. Everyone, staff and patrons alike seemed upbeat and to be enjoying themselves. The food was hot, delicious, and very reasonably priced. The menu had options for many palates. Everything tasted very fresh. Nothing seemed bagged or frozen. I had the fried pickle spears as an appetizer. They menu said they came with a special sauce but we got ranch for whatever reason. No biggie. I prefer fried pickle chips over spears because the batter holds better and they are more flavorful. For that reason, I wouldn't order them again but they were very tasty and were hand battered. I had the sirloin filet special which was 12.99. It came with two sides. I had the side winder fries and a side salad. The steak was perfectly cooked and the salad was made from fresh greens and veggies. The salad alone was worth five bucks. During the meal the server was very attentive. All of them seemed to be doing a great job keeping up with the demand. There was a man who kept checking on us-either the owner or manager. He was very involved in what was going on and seemed genuinely interested in our experience. He thanked us for our business and made us feel good about spending money at his establishment. A great experience all around and I would highly recommend it. One word of caution: it does get quite loud from all the patrons talking and enjoying themselves, but it's not "rowdy". If I could offer one suggestion it would be to change the fried pickles to chips instead of spears :-) read more

We were passing through the area and needed a place to stop for lunch. So happy we picked this place! This is a nice, local place with nice service and good food. We ordered the bison burger and the grilled chicken. Both came out fast and fresh. The chicken was flavorful and juicy and the burger was cooked as ordered and delicious. The fries were an interesting combo of steak fries and curly fries and were very tasty. I am not sure if we'll be back in the area anytime soon, but if we are, this is definitely worth a stop. read more

Our first visit-wouldn't go out of our way to come back. I had chilli-average but lukewarm. Served with crackers not chips so I ordered chips and salsa. My husband had the crab soup which was good but also lukewarm. He also had a chicken sandwich which was good but served on a burnt bun. We met this girl Devon and her face looked welcoming but she was actually kinda rude. I really really loved my experience with my boyfriend. Although for some reason my coke was flat (it was cold & all, just flat)~ that's okay with me but it wouldn't for others. The cheesecake was mediocre. The buffalo chicken salad was pretty good! I just didn't like the tiny cucumber pieces ;-; However, HOWEVER, their Jalapeño poppers were extremely extremely good!!!! God I wish I could have more XD ~ it was a 5 star!!!!!!! The sawmill burger with pepper jack & bacon, was ordered to be medium (like well, medium, rare etc.) Was definitely not medium, but was still very good! They have weird but awesome twisty-fries. OH YES! YOU HEARD ME! Twisty fries. Not Curly! My waitress (Devon) was a true sweetheart. Very helpful. She makes me wanna come more often. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Place is cute and even has some sidewalk dining. Food was great. Had the chicken fingers and they were homemade. Such a nice surprise. Our experience wasn't the best. Buffalo chicken sandwich was very very greasy and overcooked. The bun was literally dripping oil. I should've sent it back. My wife had the Chicken chili.....cold and very bland. Upside, good service. Let's face it, we're not paying for good service I want great food ! The food that came to our table was not very good. Have been dining at the Saw Mill Grill in Oxford since the opening, average 2-3 times per month. It is our GO - TO place. Have also recommended the Saw Mill to many friends from the area. 2 of the last 3 times, including last night, we have had issues. Last night I ordered a standard margarita. It tasted like 50% water. When I mentioned it to our server she informed me they changed the mixer and it did come out on the watery side. The second was a little better, but still on the watery side. I ordered the Mill grilled chicken sandwich, plain...chicken on the roll. Took the first bite and it was not chicken....it was a crab cake sandwich. No big deal...change it up...but the issue...last time in I ordered the cheesesteak...extra cheese...nothing else. The cheesesteak came loaded with onions...sent it back. Both times, by the time I got my replacement sandwich, my wife was finished her dinner. The mgr. came to the table last night, apologized for the sandwich mix-up, and told me she would comp the sandwich. Bill came...sandwich on the bill. Both issues not major issues...but enough to start looking for a new go-to place. (I still tipped out our server at 40%..none of the issues were her fault.) read more

Had dinner here last night. It was pretty good. I had the crab cakes. They were pretty good, not the best, but at least there not deviled pre made. My husband has the hamburger steak dish, which the waitress recommended. He enjoyed it very much. There were a lot of beer choices, and sizes. I had the house wine, and it was ok, nice size pour. Chicken tenders were delicious! They have a light crunchy coating that is seasoned well and the chicken was all white meat and juicy. The fries are also fantastic and seasoned well. Stopped here before a meeting in town. The people were super friendly and accommodating, the menu was varied and creative, and the atmosphere inviting. We had fish and chips, a bison burger, and a ribeye steak. Each was wonderfully tasty and well presented. The French fries were sort of curly steak fries and were a highlight. This bbn place was a find. I am in town for work and always try to find that one great place that every town has. Well.....found it. The staff were all very welcoming and made sure you had what you needed. The food was amazing. I got the special of the day which was a BBQ shrimp wrap with a side salad. So good that it should be added to the menu, permanently! The owner came over and greeted us. Her name is Nichole and I could tell that if I lived in Oxford, she would be my new BFF. I had such a great experience that I went back the next day. We got the honey BBQ wings and the garlic parmesan wings with homemade blue cheese and ranch. I had the blue cheese and it was amazing. These wings were amazing. Jumbo and very flavorful. I should have gotten them as a meal! I did get the beyond burger. It was beyond my expectations. Very juicy and full of flavors. Both owners, husband and wife, visited our table and entertained us with great conversation about them and their restaurant as we asked them about the success of such a great restaurant. This restaurant replaced Muse, a restaurant we loved, a number of years ago, and my husband and I have been there 3 times. We don't eat out often, and when we do, generally don't go wherever we went the time before. The first time we ate at Sawmill, the food and service were tremendous. The place was packed, but the waitstaff kept up with demand and the food was delicious. We're not talking gourmet, but more like high-end bar food. The second time we went, we took several other family members with us, since it had been so good the first time, and we were really disappointed. Service was so slow as to be almost non-existent, and the food was sloppily prepared, bordered on bland, and wasn't even hot when we got it. (That was before Covid hit. For almost 2 years we didn't go out to eat at all. Only got takeout.) Since we have been venturing out again for about 7 months, we thought we would give it another try, and we were not disappointed. Place was busy, but waitstaff had it together, and while the food didn't knock our socks off, we were not disappointed. It was tasty, at the appropriate temperature, and served promptly. read more

I come here a lot. The food is consistently good. I love the cross cut burger, which comes with bacon, Swiss, mushrooms, and bbq sauce. Their sidewinder fries are amazing. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and decent craft beer selection. They even serve bog turtle brewing's beers; a small brewery across the street, that makes really good beers. They recently expanded, which should help eliminate the long waits for tables when they're busy! read more
