Had a blast at Sawtooth this past Tuesday. It was a trivia night. Ordered a Moscow mule, some chili cheese tots (basically tater tots with fully loaded nacho fixins), and parked it with my friends. The totchos were great, I ate more than my stomach appreciated. My husband ordered a fried chicken sandwich with marinara and a cold beer. I did not ask him how his meal was, but his sandwich disappeared pretty quickly so im assuming it was tasty. The woman running trivia was delightful, with a fantastically dry sense of humor. At one point she mentioned she once got to see Prince and touched his ankle. Long story short, I have now touched the hand that touched Prince's ankle. We made it through 7 rounds of trivia and somehow WON! A crowning achievement of year 37 of my life, for sure. This win earned us: a $25 gift certificate to the lovely Sawtooth Bar & Grill establishment, a rubber ducky of our choosing, a crystal pendant (optional), and 1 week of ownership of the trivia night trophy . We did not trust ourselves to remember to bring back the trophy, and I did not trust some of the fellas to bring it back in one piece, so the bar staff graciously took custody of it until next week's trivia night. The bar itself is super cozy. Nice low lighting, small place but you don't feel cramped. Lots of TVs and a few arcade games. My husband and his BFF frequent this spot and tell me wonderful things about the owner. With the decor, setup, menu and general ambience, it feels like a Midwestern bar more than one in AZ. All in all, I really enjoyed myself and will happily return for another trivia night. If the staff ever happens upon this review, I apologize for the conjoined twins that are my husband and his best friend Scott. This has quickly become our favorite neighborhood bar. Shelly and her staff are awesome. Super welcoming. We absolutely love their wings, there are so many flavors to chose from. We make it a point to go in at least once a week, whether it's Monday or Thursday night football-there are tons of TVs on to make sure you have a 360° view. The fried pickles are amazing. We came in to watch the Celtics game, and as requested Shelley offered to put it on as requested at our convenience. We ordered 4 flavors of wings: lemon garlic pepper, stinging' honey garlic, kicking' cilantro, and honey hot. Our fav were cilantro and the lemon garlic. Shelly, the owner, has built an ideal neighborhood sports bar that not only has numerous options for watching most sporting events but provides outstanding food! My husband and I were on a business trip and saw this place come up on Yelp. As a native Idahoan, and seeing finger steaks on the menu, we both wanted to check it out. The whole place was on point. If you ever spent time in the Sawtooth Mountains, you'd feel at home. The finger steaks and fry sauce were like the best you'd find in Idaho. And the Sawtooth wings were super delicious!! Loved them Shelley was a bad ass getting metal pulled from her finger that came from moving a keg, which seemed perfect. (We just so happened to come in when that happened) it didn't stop her from giving us great service and great food. Makes me want to go back to the Stanley Basin, which her whole place reminded me of. Thank you for giving us a great home away from home, away from home experience. . Creepy experience. I live close by and am trying to check out all the neighborhood bars. Went in with my bf. If he wasn't with me I probably would have immediately walked out. It's loud. I felt like we walked into someone's party we weren't invited too. We sat at a table (which was sticky and gross). Kept getting lots of weird looks from people (like who are you and why are you in our bar?) but couldn't get the attn of any staff - server and bartender looked at us multiple times. First time here and definitely not my last. I was looking for a place to watch my team's first preseason game. I called around and the owner took the time to see if it was being televised... and it wasn't . I was able to watch football nonetheless. I ordered 1/2 order of nachos with ground beef, very tasty. The homemade salsa was great. I also ordered the green chile burger... one of the best burgers I've eaten outside of my home. I am not a wing eater, but I did notice the wings were huge. I stopped in here last night for dinner with my friends. We arrived around 9pm and were there around an hour. There was one other customer there who was just drinking beer after beer and kept going outside to smoke - probably a regular. A few others came in as we were getting ready to leave, but nobody else came in the hour we were there. The bartender/server took our drink orders quickly. One of my friends got a Guinness and it arrived looking like it was poured by someone who has never poured a Guinness before. We all got waters and they came in massive mugs, which was great. We placed our food order and waited a bit. It definitely took longer than expected since we were the only people there getting food. The kitchen also closed while we were there so we got the last food of the night. We got three appetizers - fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, and fried pickles. All three were disappointing, with the mushrooms being the best of the three. They all tasted burned and it was as if the oil they were cooked in hadn't been changed in a while. Some of the mushrooms were just batter with no mushroom inside, and they were all pretty watery. Two people got burgers and fries and they were massive, I don't know how they tasted since no comments were made on it. One person got the chicken strips with fries and they said they were burnt tasting and barely edible even with ranch. One person got boneless wings and said they were just fine, nothing to write home about. Maybe everything tasted burnt because it was the very end of the kitchen's night and they were due for an oil change, but it really put us off our food. The place as a whole was pretty loud because of the TVs. They were all tuned to the same game until that game ended, then some were switched and the rest stayed on the same channel. The bathroom was....unsettling. It was covered in pictures of animals that the owners had hunted and killed. I'm sure there is a certain demographic that loves that kind of thing, but being surrounded by pictures of dead animals being held up by smiling restaurant owners did not make me want to stay. The server was nice but took a while to do the final check-in with us to get us the bill. She kept disappearing to the back and coming back a couple minutes later. I'm visiting from out of town so it's unlikely I would ever be in the position to visit here again, but even if I were a local I think I would scratch this one off the list. read more

First time at this neighborhood establishment Saturday and I will report that the wings and skinny tenders were really good! Shelley the owner was also our server and she was very attentive and polite. I loved the bumpin sound system and played the appropriate country music to fit the crowd at this Idaho bar. We didn't want to ruffle too many feathers as it was definitely a place local regulars come and have their own community proudly expressing themselves in their "Biden's an Idiot" shirt for example all having connections upon entering. Anyhow, clothing is a personal and has nothing to do with this review nor does the owner control what patrons wear or their political leans. I'm mentioning it because the setting, culture and energy may scew your decision to stop in. If you go out, you know this is a fact. The reason I'm not giving the place 5 stars is the lack of up charge disclosure. We ordered Tito's sodas. We were brought talls. We didn't ask for talls, some places serve them in these glasses so didn't think anything of it. When the bill came we were charged an extra 2.99 for these tall drinks we didn't request as tall. I ordered the skinny tenders. I saw only fries and tots were included and all salads and tomato's were an extra $1.99 on the menu. I let Shelley know I wanted no side. She was very personable and recommended the tomatoes which were healthy and said that's how she eats them. We had something in common. There was rapport. Genuine desire to offer me something that would make me happy. I agreed. Since she didn't mention that would be $1.99 I thought maybe she was being nice and wouldn't charge us for them. They were on the receipt. I can afford it, not a big deal. But I consciously originally decided I didn't want a side because I didn't see the point in paying extra for a few 1 tiny slices of tomato. No such luck. So the discounted Star is for the lack of pricing disclosure. Full disclaimer is always honest and transparent. We won't be back. Wasn't a feel good spot for us and that's probably by design. It may be yours. If you don't want price surprises, specify you'd like a short beverage. And don't expect any being nice free tomatoes. Omg! This place is a great find!! I don't know where to start. Give them a try. They have amazing wings. My wife and I came across this place by looking for a place to watch Sunday night football. We tried 4 different wing sauce flavors and my favorite was sweet chili. It was perfectly cooked with a good amount of sauce to flavor. We asked for fries with the wings and they were like home cooked. Nice long pieces that you can tell are not from a frozen bag and not greasy. They got some football special drinks. One of the specials was a michelada with XX. It was well made and also the perfect drink for football games. Staff was super friendly and was joking with us the moment we walked up. I went here on my own because I wanted to sing and didn't want to go to some other sketchy places I saw out there yikes. This place looked safe and pretty cool from the pics. It's great to see that they have karaoke most of the days of the week. It is pretty busy which is another good sign. Everyone there seemed very welcoming even to me as a newbie. The karaoke guy Phil is so entertaining and a great singer. Keeps the energy up. The use of the app is new to me but very much preferred over the large paper books. I ended up getting the chili because I have to try it everywhere I go. I thought it was pretty good. It seems fresh and made with real ingredients. I would order that every time I go. There are other great menu items as well which I may have to try for a full dinner option one day. I highly recommend this place for food and karaoke. read more

We finally got a chance to go try Shelley's Friday Fish Fry plate! Comes with 3 good sized pieces of cod that are a great balance of batter & fish! Def one of our fav places so far and we've gone to a few in The Valley lol. I appreciate the more than one lemon slice that some places do as this plate came with 3! The fish fry plate also comes with fries, ketchup, their special fry sauce, tartar sauce, and a red vinaigrette. All in all, a great and filling meal! We will be back again! This location does not take reservations unless you frequent the establishment. We have had a good experience with the food mostly wings they have a delicious assortment of wing sauces all of their fried food Is very good. They have an amazing DJ that cooped in for karaoke at 9 o'clock on Fridays and Saturdays. The karaoke is super fun one day was not very busy so we got to see our hearts out, and the next weekend it was pretty busy so it wasn't as easy to get a song in. The service is really really good gets very very loud it is not a very large place but the bathroom seems clean and there does seem to be some rowdy regulars, but all in all it was all right. read more

I'll start off by saying I've never gone to Sawtooth for the hospitality or customer service. They are not very welcoming, nor do they go above and beyond to serve you. After speaking to the owner a few times, it makes perfect sense. She's quite angry and unpleasant, and that is the environment she promotes. Every time we've gone in, my wife and I say we're never going back, however, there is one item on the menu that we crave from time to time. Sunday we had that craving, unfortunately the kitchens execution was lacking. Most of our food came out burned and over fried. After mentioning that the food looked burned the server told us that's just the look the batter takes on after being fried, since there is sugar in the breading. Seems reasonable and makes sense, but they were in fact burnt. Like I said we have ordered these many times and these were pretty much inedible. My sisters boneless wings were also burnt and they do not have that breading on them. After mentioning it to the server again, she went and talked to the owner. She came back to tell us that Shelly would not do anything for us, because that's just how they are. Again...I've had these many times, and it's not how they are. If Shelly would have made any effort to come over to the table and acknowledge us, she may have thought differently. Instead she sent her poor server back to deliver the news. I didn't want anything for free, but maybe some more food that was properly cooked. No initiative to remedy the situation was taken, and we left hungry. My expectations were not set very high, but damn, Shelly really drops the ball in every aspect of restaurant service. *Update...your response proves my point exactly. I was just very put off by a couple of things- I believe the server was also the owner, which is fine, but the bar had several people there and it was evident the server/owner would rather converse with them than give us any type of customer service. When they did finally come to the table, they seemed very put off by us asking about the flavors of the wing sauce. Why not just put it on the menu then?? We're talking very made up names.... lol, how is a new person supposed to know? All in all, I want to check it out again... I want to see what the potato's are like. This place!!! Sooo goood!! I'll be honest I'm not sure there is anything they couldnt make great! My husband and I have been searching around for a good sports bar to watch our games as it is rare Cowboys show on local networks here. We were so pleasantly surprised. The moment we walked in the waitress greeted us and joked around. The regulars bring an energy to the atmosphere that feels like we are all just hanging out. Such friendly staff and good service. We had a XX Michelada and was made to perfection! I had to have 3! Right amount of spice and didn't only taste like clamato. We ordered 2 dz bone in wings with tots and fries to taste a variety. We had lemon pepper, Sweet Chili, Hot, and Stingin Honey Garlic. The skin was crispy, and the chicken juicy on all of them. They were a good size too. Lemon pepper was properly seasoned and was not sour like some places. My husband's favorite was Sweet Chili and mine was Stingin Honey Garlic. None of these were burn your tongue hot..but did not lack any in flavor and kick. Not only did we find our football hangout but we now have our favorite wing place! Hands down.. best wings I've had! My hubby and I are new to AZ and we're still in search of our local bar. This place seemed promising and we were excited to try a new place! It was our first time in and we were greeted with a busy bartender/server. We later discovered it was the owner based on the plethora of personal photos. We sat down and waited. We were quickly asked what to drink and we asked a couple of questions. She snapped back at us and said "I'm in the weeds right now, you're going to have to wait to ask questions". We then sat there for a while waiting for her to come back from serving what appeared to be the entire restaurant. They may have been short staffed that night so we gave some understanding but we were totally put off by the lack of service and common politeness you would expect from a bar. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. The prices were high for the quality but would gladly pay again if it was a welcoming spot. Oh well.. the search continues. read more
