bb.q Chicken 1900 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler On May 19, an inspector stopped by bb.q Chicken in Chandler. There, they noted four priority violations, another six foundation violations and scheduled a mandatory reinspection. Raw chicken and raw eggs were stored behind and above ready-to-eat foods. The restaurant's process for washing and rinsing equipment didn't include sanitizing. Many foods were found sitting out at room temperature, including fries, chicken wings and thighs that had been fried in anticipation of future orders. Cream was sitting out at room temperature, and utensils were stored in containers of room-temperature water. The inspector also noted that the kitchen was dirty, with "heavy soiling" on the hand sink, cooler handles and buckets, and a large buildup of dust and dirt around all of the kitchen vents.

I will start by saying the food is very unique and flavorful. Use tremendous caution when ordering anything with Hot Mala sauce because WHOA! HOT is a huge understatement. The wings are good tho and the cheese sticks have kind of an unusual texture that is really good. Our son ordered the Ddeok-Bokki in that Mala flavor and said it was really good. The folks there are really nice and friendly and my order was ready and hot just when they said it would be. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the price seems a little high but I feel like you do get a good portion.

I've been wanting to try this place out for a while now and I finally did. I got the honey garlic wings, boneless though. I was pretty indecisive because I wanted something spicy and they had so many good options but the honey garlic was just calling my name. It is also their popular flavor so I caved in and got it. The chicken was so crispy and amazing. They had the perfect amount of sauce to them and the flavor was delicious. My boyfriend got the hot mala bone in wings, those were very hot. The flavor was very good as well and the spice kicks in at the end. If you aren't into spicy foods I wouldn't recommend. It is a little sweet as well, it kind of reminded me of hot orange chicken. Both of them were very crispy though which I absolutely loved. We also ordered fries and honestly I was disappointed. They are very bland and aren't really good. They just taste like oil in a way. The place was small but there's enough seating for a good amount of people. The wait for the food wasn't too long, it was like 10-15 minutes. One of the workers was very sweet and even brought out our food to our table. The food was very hot which meant it was freshly made and it absolutely did taste fresh. I do wish they had a soda fountain or something other than just canned and bottled soda. I definitely will be back and try out some of the other flavors they have and food as well.

We had the worst experience at your Chandler, AZ location. We were excited to try this when I received an email and text notification about the launch of this new flavor. I wanted to make sure that this has no spice or not spicy as we cannot handle any heat/spice at all. We've always stuck with our favorite cheeseling. I called Chandler before going there to make and was told no spice at all. Long story short, we ordered for pick up, got home excited to eat it, and it was spicy. Called the location, they made us return what was left of our 16 piece order which was more than half so that they could investigate. Drove back ( inconvenient on our part ) there to return and was told we would get a voucher for 16 piece chicken whenever we want. We never asked for any refund or voucher, I just wanted to give them my feedback but was surprised that they asked us to return the pieces we have not consumed. At the same time, there was a piece of boneless chicken that I found undercooked, I was also asked to return that piece for them to investigate and email them a picture to which I did. The next day, my husband went back to claim our 16 piece voucher only to be turned away. I emailed the whole incident and the manager responded ( no apologies whatsoever) they will investigate further. To this day, I have not heard back from this manager. I also emailed BB.Q customer service- no response. Such a disappointment! We have been loyal customers since this branch opened, did not expect this kind of treatment.

This is a small shop in the middle of this complex with some seating available. Our cashier was super friendly and on top of everything. They were very busy but getting orders out so fast. I ordered the secret sauce and tried the galbi boneless chicken size small. I think I liked the galbi better but that's just personal preference. The servings were large and we definitely had take home. There are combo deals on week days but weekends there aren't.

If your in the mood for some chicken wings highly recommend! Service is quick via order at the counter. Lots of folks coming and going with pick up/delivery orders. Inside is a bit small with a couple of table seating areas but you'll be bed pressed to find a spot during peak time.

I ordered 2medium chickens and rose ddeok bokki. The chicken was good, but the $16 tteokbokki portion was surprisingly small. It wasn't worth the price. Very disappointing

I love the wings here! They're addicting, full of flavor, and best eaten fresh. Service is friendly and the space is clean. I have eaten here several times already but today's order were all wings. Soy Garlic, Gangjeong, and Cheesling. All were so tasty but the Cheesling was my fave! Can't wait to try other flavors next time!

Didn't plan to be out running errands so long so decided to grab a quick lunch and dinner so I could finish my errands. BBQ Chicken was conveniently located where I was already running errands so quick and easy was a win for the day. There were lots of flavor choices for the wings they offer with half or whole chicken flavors with a few choices to pick from as well. Lunch combos are also offered with rice or fries. I wanted to try the galbi spicy boneless wings and regular chicken so a boneless wing combo and original golden half chicken were my final choices so lunch and dinner were done just like that. The spicy galbi boneless wing combo was nice and tasty w a little sweetness and a tad more heat. The wings were still crispy even though they were tossed in sauce. The original golden half chicken had a slight hint of heat in the breading and was quite nice. My order was definitely made fresh as it was very hot and everything was wonderfully crispy. Initially, I thought it was a bit pricey for takeout but considering that there was enough for four servings altogether it made it a little less pricey. Since we rarely eat fried chicken it was an excuse to give it a try. The young lady that was helping me answered my questions and described things pretty clearly. There were lots of patrons throughout the dining area. I didn't pay any attention to see if there were outdoor seats but there might have been a few. There were several people waiting on orders for dine in as well as takeout with a steady flow of people trickling in. I'd come back to try other flavors the next time I'm nearby. I'm sure anyone else that checks in will find something on the menu to satisfy your fried chicken and wing needs.

If you're looking for wings that were featured on a Kdrama, then look no further! My husband and I came here randomly on a Saturday afternoon and thankfully we missed the rush. We decided to go for some wings and they did not disappoint. We ordered two flavors and it took about 10 mins for our food to arrive. Service was great and the place was very clean. The soy garlic boneless wings were a bit saltier than I would typically prefer but the flavor was very enjoyable to eat. Between the two, the Galbi flavored wings were my favorite. They were sweet and savory. The crust on the wings were light and crunchy. Prices were a bit high for the wings but well worth it in my opinion. Overall I would highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. I plan to try their honey garlic flavored wings next time.

Who would've thought Chandler, AZ would have a good number of Asian chain food places. I was here for work and have always wanted to try the KFC at bb.q Chicken, so of course we tried it! We got the secret sauce wings. The sauce tasted pretty good but the fried chicken itself was the star. Super crispy and light even with the sauce covering them. And I think these wings are a good size, so you can have a good proportion of fried exterior to meat and sauce. The rose tteokbokki (which had fish cakes too) tasted like what I was expecting and was super yummy with the chicken (although I would've preferred mozzarella on top rather than the Mexican cheese blend it had). I also wish the pickled radiah came with the chicken (kinda dumb that you have to pay extra for it...). Overall, a chill spot with good service to eat crispy Korean fried chicken with friends!

Real chicken inside. Not ground mush.
    Kristen L.

Food: The original crispy chicken has a light crunch. Didn't have a heavy batter. I liked that it was slightly spicy even without a sauce. It had real meat inside. It didn't have the ground up chicken meat you find in chicken nuggets. It came out hot and tasty. The tteokbokki was alright and was quite spicy. It was chewy like mochi and came out piping hot in temperature. It also came with some fish cake slices inside and pickled radish on the side. The pickled radish was sweet. The fish cake had a strong fish flavor. Atmosphere - I did not visit the restroom. Not sure if they had one, it might have been around the corner to the right of the register. Not hot or cold inside the restaurant. I have been to some places where it's been hot. All tables and chairs, no booths or counter seating. No patio. Had some tvs on with no sound. I liked that it was fairly quiet inside. They had a board where people could post ads on it. Service - There were maybe two employees. The service here was slow after the order was taken. Seemed like they are hiring from the ads posted outside. Perhaps this is part of why they were so slow. A lot of people seemed to have ordered ahead and went shopping or went for take out instead of dine in. It's more of a take out shop anyway. Next time I'll order ahead and do take out. Parking - Surface lot parking only. No parking structures or parking meters. Future - Will be coming back for more. The health record on Yelp shows that they have a great score at this time.

Hey now my YELPies! This is a spot I frequent because uuuumm.. Korean fried chicken is incredible! I have almost everything on the menu but, I have settled on Honey Garlic wings! The service is great because this is another place where it is made to order and it comes out piping hot! This little spot in Chandler is small but, can accommodate about 40 to sit inside. It is clean and has tv screens playing K-Pop And chicken commercials.. it's a cute added feature to this place. It's a tad in the expensive side but.. ITS WORTH IT! YELPies.. Run on over to BB.Q and get some YELPin' GOOD fried chicken

TLDR: Not worth your money…read more 1. Unfriendly manager The second I stepped into the store with my own matcha drink the manager ran up to me and said I wasn't allowed to keep my drink. He told me I had to chug or throw in a rude manner. I've been to other gens locations that do not care at all if I have a boba from some other store. I was super taken aback and the manager continued being very condescending about it. I get not being allowed to bring in like your own alcohol, but banning outside matcha is ridiculous. What's the point of chugging it when I can just drink it throughout my meal? I also highly doubt gens makes major profits off of their non alcoholic beverages. 2. No beef belly Gens beef belly is the only reason I'd go to gens. But then surprise surprise they had run out of beef belly. Especially since our table had expressed an interest in the beef belly, I feel like it would only be fair to offer us a discount for missing out on an important part of the menu. But honestly I don't think the manager cares that much about the customer experience so no discount for us. 3. No discount for vegetarians Listen, I know that vegetarians usually don't find themselves at kbbq, but we had a friend in the group who is vegetarian and wanted to be included. They get a discount at the Tucson Gens because that location understands that my friend can't have the bbq experience. Once again, customer experience does not matter at this specific gens because they did not give a discount. They also gave my friend a really sad plate of unseasoned bell peppers to grill. $30+ for that was lowkey criminal. 4. No sauce or banchan at the beginning I've noticed other reviews mention this, but what's up with no sauce or banchan at the start? That stuff should already be on the table the second you get seated. We were also already deep into a plate of meat before they finally brought the sauce. Once again I've been to other gens locations, and they usually do things normally (sauce and banchan out at the start). Not to be that guy - and yes maybe I have a particular dislike towards the manager - but it must be the restaurant owner's/management staff's first day on kbbq earth. 5. Bad corn cheese Seriously, how do you mess up corn cheese? It was 90% corn and 10% cheese. Do we not have standards? 6. The soju deal ad I didn't ask for I totally don't blame the waiters for this. As someone who has also worked in customer service, I've been forced to advertise some pretty stupid stuff. The poor waiter kept bringing up soju to me and specifically some kind of soju special they're doing. Guys...it's a night before a workday and I'm just trying to have some beef belly (L). If I wanted soju I would have already asked for a bottle. The poor waiter repeated the ad to me a second time even after my refusal. Very awkward for both of us. 7. Missing items Our table ordered a salad that never came...maybe they're trying to protect us from the diarrhea parasite... Let's be real, I don't come to Gens for a Michelin experience. I just come for some quick, easy, inoffensive, corporate kbbq. No frills, no tricks. But I feel like whoever is in charge here is kind of doing too much in the wrong categories, especially when there are some serious flaws in their food and cooking system. I know a sinking ship when I see one.

Once we had ordered our food, I went to the bathroom and by the time I got back we had already received our banchan, shrimp tempura appetizer, and bulgogi, followed by everything else shortly after. All the food came out fresh and the bulgogi came out sizzling on a hot skillet ready for us. All the meat we ate was very tender and flavorful. The yukgaejang (spicy beef and vegetable soup, 육개장) was slightly different than what we are used to, as it was more like small slices of beef rather than shredded; however, this is not a complaint as the meat was still extremely tender and almost melted in my mouth. Overall the soup was delicious and exactly what we were looking for. I also wanted to mention the banchan and how fresh it was. There honestly was not a dish that we didn't enjoy, even the fried chicken was amazing (we were so full we had to bring it home). My mother even said she would eat there everyday if we lived closer. At the end of the meal, we were brought watermelon slices. I was tempted to ask how they picked their watermelons or where they got them from, because they were soooo sweet and delicious! Ordering is fairly easy since they offer combos depending which meats you like more. Everything we ordered was good quality. My favorite meat cuts were the beef tongue, brisket and the intestines. If you're not into eating inside parts of animals, I would recommend getting the brisket or kalbi cuts. The Banchan (sides) were good too. They had fish cake, kimchi, pickled radish and cucumbers available. We also tried the tofu soup, steamed egg and corn cheese which all came out hot and tasted flavorful. This spot is a-la-carte, so you order off the menu and pay by items. My only downside is that they didn't have rice paper here since I don't really eat the white rice since it fills me up too quickly. Other than that, I would come back here again next time I'm visiting family. Service here was awesome too! We were checked on throughout our whole meal and the servers were friendly.

**This review is strictly for the malatang ONLY!**…read more If you like having a strangely uncomfortable tingling taste on your tongue and inside your mouth, then get the spicy malatang. If you prefer feeling comfortable, then get the creamy malatang! Ok, fine, some people might like the spicy malatang, but this is the first time I've tried spicy malatang, and it will be my last for as long as I can help it! There's nothing fancy about this restaurant. It's DIY, self serve. For the malatang, you grab a very large bowl and put everything your heart desires in it (I'm talking about seafood, meats, protein, veggies, carbs, etc, not everything you desire in a man/woman), you bring it to the counter, and pick your soup base, and they bring it out on a burner, and you start chowing! Pretty easy and simple! They have a self serve sauce bar with all the different sauce recipes that you can create as many saucy combinations as you like! I didn't love my spicy malatang, hence the 3 star for this visit, but hopefully I can give it another shot again trying something different!
