Having grown up in Fairmont, I used to frequent the original restaurant 50 years ago. While under new ownership the food and service continues to be outstanding!! I ordered the smothered beef sirloin with baked potato and Brussels sprouts. It was generous proportions and very tasty. My hubby ordered the lasagna which he said was also good. The side salads were a good size and homemade dressings very tasty. We were both full and decided to take Oreo pie and Peanut Butter pie home for later- yummy dessert. Our waitress was spot on with everything!! Will definitely be back when in town again. Husban and I went for the first time and we both wanted a "good ole hamburger." We got them. He got the bacon cheese burger and I got the mushroom and Swiss. I have to say that was one of, if not the best, one of those I have ever had. Service was perfect with nice atmosphere. The menu could be a bit broader, but I recommend going with whatever they are offering as the special. I really felt like I was eating food at an old time grandma's house and you can taste the care put into the cooking. I've been eating at Say-Boy's Restaurant since the early 1970s or longer. A wonderful family restaurant. Note though, that they have had a fire at the location shown here, and have moved down the block about 1/4 mile. Still on Country Club Road, but in the complex with Dollar General and Big Lots. Don't know the new address. I love their food, and they have great steaks and broasted chicken. Try them, you will like them... I promise!!! read more

Stopped in for lunch today since I was working in the area. What a treat! Their broasted chicken is incredible! Fries were crispy and generous. What can I say, local diner/cafeteria atmosphere. I was tempted to visit because I was interested in a steak and the first place I fond on Yelp didn't exist at the address given. Tried it for the first time today because I've heard so many great things. I was so disappointed. It took 5 minutes to even be greeted the food was mediocre. I took 2 bites out of my pasta bake and my SO had the surf 'n turf. He ordered it rare and it came out Medium. For the price everything was just so bland. It tasted store bought. We didn't want any of it but wasn't asked how our food was. Nothing was terrible but for $19 you'd think the steak would be perfect. I wanted to tell my server about my food but she was busy with other tables. Then when we went up to pay there were 3 things on our check we never ordered or got. They said the server does it all the time. I'm glad they got their restart but disappointed in this 'fairmont gem'. read more

Save your time and look elsewhere. We have been here twice and both times disappointed. The first time the waiter came by after being seated to give us menus. We waited and waited and waited. There were not that many customers there so could not understand what was taking so long. Finally after 20-25 minutes with being able to get even a drink order, we left. Say Boy's is great. It's a simple no frills style restaurant that been around since before I was born and hasn't changed. They have good quality steaks and they are always served on a sizzling platter. Another must have is their Broasted chicken which is always fresh, crispy but not greasy. The prices are great for the portion and quality of food and the service is always good and consistent. It may not be fancy but it's clean and feels homey. If you are expecting a Ruth Chris steak house then this sure isn't it but you can get a great home cooked quality Ribeye for under 20 bucks and have leftovers to take home too. read more

This restaurant has been in Fairmont for several years. This is "homestyle" cooking at it's best. I had not eaten here for several years until last evening. It was as good as I had remembered. I had filet mignon wrapped in bacon that was perfectly prepared. My husband had flounder stuffed with crabmeat that he described as delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Great home-style food..I've had hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes that was large and very tasty. They also have..very good salads with a great choice of chicken, steak or even salmon that are served in a giant 'tortilla' bowl. I've had the grilled chicken one a few times...they are so big you can easily split one with someone else. The ranch dressing is very good. Keep an eye out for the huge plexiglass cupcake display beside the register. Have one for dessert or they will box some up for you in a nifty 'bakery' box. read more

First time visiting, and I'm sure we will go back. Husband ordered the special which was an 8 oz Strip with max and cheese, fries, and salad. I ordered the half portion (5oz) steak with fries and salad. The salads were a nice start and tasted fresh. We both ordered our steaks medium. His was cooked perfectly. Mine however, was very thin and had no option except well done. It still tastes good, but was very thin. We both loved the battered fries and his mac and cheese was also good! I hate to kick them when they're down (recent fire)....... but I've tried eating here a number of times and there has never been a great (or even good) experience. For some weird reason, they have a near cult following in the area and they need to be thankful for that. If they needed to make it on their food taste, quality and server service.......... they'd have their doors closed in a heartbeat. Bland, Bland, BLAND food taste in a deteriorated facility. Seriously anyone that doesn't like the food here must be very picky. The best steak hoagies and meatball hoagies ever! I am a huge hoagie fan and so is my brother and we have eaten our share from around the area. This place wins the best and overall quality from us. Not just limited to hoagies.. The chicken is very good as was the pasta. I have eaten here at least 10 times in the past year and not one time was I disappointed or any of my family. I admit it's rather old school when you go inside but I liked that actually. Nice people were also there everytime we was there. And good prices too! As other reviews have stated the decor is that of "olden days" but I don't mind it! The service was great, our waitress was friendly had a bright smile and was very attentive. My boyfriend got the hot roast beef sandwich and was very happy with it. The meat was super tender and the mashed potatoes were wonderful and the gravy was also very good. I had the cod fillet with a baked sweet potato and broccoli. I also had a side salad which was fresh and the raspberry vinaigrette was very good. The sweet potato had just the right amount of sweetness from the cinnamon butter! Broccoli was fresh but just needed a little bit more salt for me, but still good. Finally the cod. It was sooo good!! The filet itself was so tender and the breading was just the right amount not a greasy batter but more of panko with seasonings. The tartar sauce I am pretty sure was homemade and could have used just a bit more relish, but again that is my taste. We were too full for desserts but oh my did they look scrumptious. Cupcakes, cakes and cinnamon buns with caramel sauce and nuts definitely had me drooling. All in all we had a great experience I would totally recommended Say-Boy!! read more

Well I hesitate to review because it is my favorite little gem,and don't want it to get to crowded. It's sign says Say-Boys Steakhouse, but it is not a real steakhouse but a home cooking restaurant. If I need a good home-made meal away from home Say-Boys is the place. They have just about everything (steak, seafood, pasta, chicken, sandwiches, pies, desserts, seasonal specials) and the food has always been good. Service has also been good. It's not fancy and not new but it is homey and the ladies at the pie counter always greet us with a smile. We have never had a problem getting a seat but at times I drive by and it's parking lot is packed. Definitely a hidden gem in Fairmont. read more

We are from out of town and found this steakhouse on Yelp. They have a very good selection on their menu. We had a party of seven and was seated promptly. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the 6oz. bacon wrapped filet with baked potato and salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. For an appetizer, I ordered the stuffed yellow pepper. That also was delicious. A little spicy but tolerable. Others in our party ordered the green fried tomatoes, stuffed mushrooms and onion rings. There were no complaints.
