Only adding a star for the nice woman who helped us (Tori). The rest of the experience:…read more 1. Not allowed to hold the puppy or go into an enclosure even though we were serious buyers. 2. When we paid for the puppy he reeked. 3. Told he had his shots and was visited twice by a vet. Impossible the vet didn't know his condition. (See 4) 4. Puppy has had vicious diarrhea (our house is a war zone) since we brought him home. Took him to vet and he tested positive for Coccidia and Giardia. Highly contagious and we have another dog and small kids. 5. Dog also has a heart murmur but the pet shop said it could be from travel or stress so I'm not going to panic about this one just yet. We did submit a claim for the vet bills. I think they only reimburse up to $1k. We are at $220 and need to get retested in a few weeks and will likely need more meds. Add a test and meds for our other dog as well and we are racking up costs for what should have been a healthy dog. And forget everything we've had to toss and the rugs that will need to be cleaned after all this. Not a good way to start what should be a beautiful time with our new boy. Why are the dogs not being tested and treated for parasites? Why was the dog given to us with vicious diarrhea? So many questions.. but clearly either they need a new vet or they need to get more involved in making sure the dogs are healthy.

I would not purchase a pet at this store. I purchased a puppy last September. I didn't know it…read morewasn't trained. The salesperson didn't go over the store policy. I had to pay separately for the Supply kit/crate. It was a lot of $$. I returned him, as I couldn't train and I live alone. I brought him back in the same condition I got him in. They only refunded me 50% of price. I tried to contact the Owner to no avail. I thought Massachusetts has a 3-day Right of Recision, Chapter 93-A law. I think their store policy is not Fair, unfair Business Practices - unprofessional. They just want your money, and don't care about the animals. Don't bother.

Banfield was a great experience with one exception. I needed to get a health certificate for a…read moredomestic flight this weekend and I called last weekend to see if this was something they could do. I called and the receptionist was very rude, she told me that it would take at least 10 days to get the certificate (something about mailing to NY). For anyone that hasn't traveled with a pet, you need a health certificate from a vet within 10 days of your flight, so when I brought this up to the receptionist, all she could say was "well your dog is a new patient and we don't have openings for another two weeks". WRONG AGAIN. I made a new patient appointment online for 4 days after I called. I called again, thankfully didn't get the same lady and I explained that I needed a certificate for interstate travel. The receptionist wasn't sure but asked her manager if this was possible and they said it could be done the same day (this is typical for interstate travel certificates). I arrived today to my appointment and the receptionist wasn't sure if we could get a travel certificate today, and the lady next to her (who I presume was the rude lady I spoke to on the phone days ago) immediately said "she needs a drop off appointment. That will take all day." And I told them that I had called earlier to ensure that I could get a health certificate today and I only needed it for interstate travel. The rude lady kept insisting that even for interstate travel I needed at least 10 days to process the certificate. Finally we got one of the technicians to confirm they could get me a certificate today and everything went smoothly. Everyone else was really nice but I'm not sure why that one receptionist has such an attitude about something that she clearly knows nothing about. TLDR you can get a health certificate for interstate travel on the same day within 10 days of your flight! Don't listen to the rude receptionist who tells you otherwise

Posting a poor review and hoping I get responses. I was taking my dog to Banfield Animal Hospital-…read moreI had signed the puppy up for the pet insurance. I chose a plan that included neutering. Almost a year of paying $116 a month I started talking about the nursing of my dog - the insurance covered 100%. I was told by the vet they would not neutering my dog unless some $800 test was done - which was not covered by the insurance (not medically necessary). I went to two other vets, dogs neutered no $800 lab work need. When i spoke with the vets they wouldn't say the $800 lab was unnecessary- the politest one put it, ' error on the side of caution'. My housemate has a 17 yr old cat - rescue. The cat still goes to Banfield and has an elderly health plan. We call yesterday to schedule an appointment and we may have to put her down. The cat has labored breathing but other signs or indicators of pain are not present, yet. To humanely put your animal down is covered under the health policy - the best the can do is late afternoon Sat or Sun, but suggested pet ER'S were we could take her and pay. (My housemate went online and was able to get an 1130 appointment today - SMH. ) * Ive filed with state agencies, license boards - and in a grey area - my complaint is that Banfield makes it hard to use thd pet policies you pay a monthly premium for... has anyone else experience or maintenance even realize the obstacles to using the Banfield Pet Insurance?

I'm disappointed with my experience with Dr. Tomas and the care my dog received. Almost a year ago,…read moremy dog underwent a TTT for a luxating patella. The surgery was unsuccessful, as her patella continued to luxate constantly afterward. Now, 10 months later, she has also torn her CCL in the same leg and will require another major orthopedic surgery. Initially, I did not blame Dr. Tomas, as I understood that orthopedic procedures (especially in a very small dog) carry risks. However, after seeking a second opinion from a board-certified veterinary orthopedic surgeon, I was told that my dog needs a patellar revision because her trochlear groove was not deepened during the original surgery. What is particularly frustrating is that Dr. Tomas specifically told me that the groove did not need to be deepened. I am now being told by another orthopedic surgeon that it does need to be addressed and is contributing to her continued luxation. She will also require a TPLO/lateral suture procedure for her CCL. I spent over $5,000 on the original surgery specifically to correct this problem, and I am now facing another costly surgery because the patellar luxation was not successfully corrected. The postoperative care was also extremely disappointing. When my dog experienced complications, Dr. Tomas was unreachable for weeks, and no one else on staff adequately assisted us. I understand that surgery is never guaranteed to be successful, but I expected appropriate follow-up and communication when complications arose. After everything my dog and I have been through, I am incredibly disappointed with the outcome and the lack of support we received. Lesson learned- always get different opinions. Do not move forward with the first surgeon you meet.
