    Mofongo

One of the closest Puerto Rican restaurants near me. In a small shopping center it's hard to miss, but completely worth your while to go to. As a Puerto Rican, it's hard for me to find that taste of home in the area so when this place opened up, I couldn't wait to try it! And it was great! With someone who had never had Puerto Rican food here and they fell in love with the taste!! They stated and I quote, "You Puerto Ricans have been gate keeping." I got Mofongo with a taste reminded me of traditional Mofongo not the fancy stuff at some of these upstate restaurants that is so far removed from what I would get from the Bronx. Though they serve it pretty. And the mojito Absolutely love coming here. Service is great as well.

Really nice bar, try the Pina Colada

This is in STONY POINT! We went to their New City location and were not impressed. But this location had really great authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Small venue but cozy. Nicely appointed. We had pina coladas which were quite good. The kicker is how their tostones come out. These were some of the best I've had outside of Puerto Rico. Not too greasy, could be a little more crunchy. But you're not at home so be happy. My wife has the asopao con camarones (rice soup with shrimp)- good. I had bistec encebollado (flank steak smothered in onions sautéed in vinegar - real good. We might go back to New City to see if it's up to par with the Stoney point joint. Close to the food my Mom made!

Small & cozy restaurant. Everything that we ordered was delicious. Yeily was very attentive and serviceable. We will definitely come back. Highly recommended if you want to try puerto rican/dominican cuisine.

This restaurant does it again. Great food, great service, and beautiful decor. Small and cozy but enough for your party. They now have their liquor license and it makes the place that much better. I have not had a dish I didn't like and hopefully don't plan to. They had Puerto Rico's local beer (Medalla) which is a light amber ale and not sharp. We also ordered a passion fruit mojito that was amazing. Keep up the good work.

If you really think about it the Dominican food has taken over the Bx. I searched, and found this place. The moment you step in you are greeted with the warmest blessings. The 2 beautiful people that worked there made our time there so memorable. The food was out of this world let me tell you. Also, I will say it is AFFORDABLE. portion size was huge and the place was so CLEAN. Food: Pernil: 10/10 flavorful and tender Yellow (arroz con gandules) and Black rice with the beans: 10/10 both were good and couldn't even decide which one was better Pulpo 9/10 : fresh and tangy, cut into small pieces so you can top it on your rice Alcapurrias: 8/10 great and made differently then what I'm used to but it was sooo good I'd come again for this alone Juices: Ask them to try the juices and they will let you. We tried it all. Came home with passion fruit (parcha) and guyaba (guanabana) Delicious 10/10 It was so fresh and they don't add too much ice so you get all the juice taste. All in all I'm coming here from now on. A true BX staple for the community and a true essence of the Bori pride resides here. If you miss PR, come here.

Rice was the way I like it - soft, not too oily, flavorful. I will go back with my bf who was born and raised in PR to see what he thinks, but I'm already a fan. They also have a lot of variety so I plan on trying something new next time. The lady working there said that sometimes they make guanimes (some people call them guanimos) which I have never been able to find outside of PR. I hope I get to try them at this place. So glad I found this spot and recommend you all check it out.

Inside was nice with plenty of seating for groups and AC to keep you cool on hot summer days. Acoustics were great we were able to enjoy our conversation without having to yell over loud music. Bathrooms were clean with a touch of Puerto Rico as ambient coquí frogs sing in the background. The staff were amazing, friendly attentive and helpful. Our waitress was top notch took care of our coffee and food orders with a smile on a rainy cloudy day. Ordered the Coquito latte, delicious- paired with the sweet and spicy chicken and Coquito batter waffle!! Wow the flavor was great didn't even need syrup. Loved the contrast of sweet and salty. Great portion sizes for the price. My wife got the Coquito French toast with scrambled eggs hash brown potatoes and bacon served on a charcuterie board. Eggs were fluffy and delicious the French toast was soft and buttery.
