I've always loved Sbarro. Great place to stop and grab a slice of pizza and some hot ziti.

My boyfriend just asked me if I could eat Italian as a vegan, but I told him no, but thankfully I found this elegant place. First and foremost, it's located on the top floor next to Char. There's NO dress code, but I didn't see anyone in casual wear either. Primarily saw dates and a few families, but no loud and rowdy children running around screaming. Thank goodness! If you are vegan, you need to specify that with your server initially because the bread that they serve to the table isn't vegan. I love how there's multiple veg options. We ordered the portobella mushroom appetizer and it was delicious! I got mine with vegan bread. The hummus is tasty and smooth. The mushroom had the juiciness of a beef steak. The vegano was by far the best veg pizza I've ever tasted. It was so flavorful and had many textures. Lightly dusted with cashew parm and drizzled with a balsamic vinegarette glaze. Sweet and savory. My boyfriend had the linguine with the crawfish tails; he said that you need to put your tongue on that shite. I was surprised when our waitress said that there was ONE veg dessert. Usually, restaurants have ZERO options for my sweet tooth. The chocolate cake is rich with hints of fruit, ganache, raspberry coli, and a coconut whip. It was incredibly moist, but not dense. Very decadent! They even have gluten-free options as well. Very nice experience. I enjoyed every bit of it.

All of it was delicious from start to finish. Second, the service was great. We had a server named David and he truly went above and beyond to make our special day special. On top of that, upon leaving, he presented us with this sweet menu from the staff wishing us a happy anniversary. He was very attentive, helpful, and friendly. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather, as for the inside I can't speak on it. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will certainly be going back.

My…read morefirst stop was Pulito Osteria, an Italian-esque restaurant located in Jackson's trendy Manship area. We had a reservation on a Wednesday night, and the restaurant was packed - the atmosphere is reminiscent of a classic Italian restaurant that one may find in New York. Service was sincere, but they seemed short staff as it took a while for us to be seated despite having a reservation, and our server seemed swamped throughout most of the meal service. I overheard another server mentioning that they were down a staff member, so that probably was the reason. The food is good - we shared all of our dishes, we had Caesar salad, which was quite crispy and sizeable, as well as the linguine with crab and short rib. The linguine with crab was quite lemon forward, but after a while I began to appreciate the taste - I really enjoyed the actual linguine noodles because they tasted fresh and were cooked perfectly. The short rib was the highlight - absolutely tender, topped with a horse radish puree - one of the best short ribs I have ever had. While the menu is not totally unique, the dishes are executed well, and with care. Pulito Osteria is definitely worth a try, and if I were ever in Jackson again I would deftinitely go back.

The flavor that came out of each bite was over the top. I can tell you what else was exceptional,…read moreand that was the service. I have never met such a kind hostess. He insisted that he move our tables to be one big table. I told him it was okay because I didnt want to bother him, but he insisted, saying he wanted me and my little nephew to be comfortable. He handed us the menus, and we decided to order three different pizzas and the Pretzel Bites for the appetizer. The first pizza was the Three Little Pigs, a delicious combination of Italian sausage, pepperoni, applewood bacon, fresh basil, marinara, and mozzarella. This one was by far my favorite. The bacon and sausage had a spicy flavor, and the mozzarella was thick and gooey. One bite and the cheese would stretch for days. The other two, the Pepperoni and Chicken Alfredo, were right up there, too. I like that the Chicken Alfredo tasted more like a pizza than not. It had all the combinations of a Chicken Alfredo pasta dish, but with the spices and marinara sauces, it was a sweet combination of both, but it was more of a pizza flavor, which I just loved. I can't leave off the Pretzel Bites; I liked that the cheese and mustard were mixed, bringing on a very favorable dip. Now I must tell you this: the pizzas are supposed to be a personal pan--ten inches with six slices. The hostess warned me these pizzas aren't your regular-sized personal pan. He was right. The pizzas are huge, the slices even bigger. It's a deep-dish pizza with layers of meat, cheese, sauces, and veggies. So you can order three like I did, or just order one and keep coming back, trying different pizzas, which is a great idea considering the place is so inviting. One more thing: You can eat inside or outside on the patio or the lawn with the large TV screen. It's a very relaxed place, and they have a band on certain nights. I can tell you for sure that the hostess, the food, and the ambiance make this place what it is, very inviting.
