We were in Clinton at 2pm on a Sunday and had not eaten lunch. I had heard of Roma through social media and we decided to try it. It's really good American Italian. I love to cook Italian and make homemade lasagna, chicken parm and Alfredo. I'm no Giada but I feel that I'm in a good position to judge. We shared the Tour of Italy. Oh my goodness.....freshly made cream sauce. Pasta is homemade at their location in Brandon. The lasagna has layers of pillowy ricotta and well seasoned meat sauce. The chicken parm is perfectly breaded and cooked just right. All topped with melted, stringy mozzarella. Large portions. All around, a fantastic meal. Homemade rolls served warm. What more could you ask for? Tiramisu. That's what you should ask for. The chocolate drizzle is not necessary, in my opinion. This tiramisu is delicious on its own. Did I mention that I also make homemade tiramisu? This stuff was good!! The server is part of the family that owns it. So nice and great service. Very clean and well appointed decor. I would prefer less modern Italian music playing but that's just my personal preference. We are bringing our aunt and uncle back for their anniversary! Did I take pics like I usually do? Everybody deserves a second chance. Went to Roma when they first opened and had a horrible customer service experience. I didn't even make it to the food. So for months I have sworn off the place. I saw they were under new management and decided to give them another try. Glad I did. Went in last Friday night, was greeted warmly and helped quickly. This was NOT the case my first visit. Ordered the Tour of Italy because I was still skeptical and wanted to keep it simple. Y'all....it was so good! Not drowning in sauce like some places, which I can't stand. Not a fan of the placement in the to-go container because the chicken parm was under my fettuccine and I prefer my lasagna neatly stacked. However, for me...taste far outweighs presentation. So it has been over a month since my wife and I dined here. I want to let the hip die down before I posted this. I will start with the restaurant it's self. The place setting and table were both subpar, the floor was sticky and the music was kind of loud and not remotely something I would expect in a nice restaurant. The service was far but I felt the poor waitress was over working while others were just standing around watching her. She tried so hard to make this a good experience. I am kind of a stickler for keeping my drink full and she could not keep up. But that was the highlight of this trip. The food was just average at best. I had the chicken parmesan and spaghetti my wife had the Alfredo. The sauce for the spaghetti honestly reminded me of Chef Boyardee. My wife summed the meal up by saying we have went to Olive Garden if that gives you an idea. I know a lot of others were raving about this place. I can see for someone who has not had a lot of good authentic Italian food could feel that way. My however it was kind of a disappointment over all. read more

Wife got the eggplant parmigiana and I splurged and got the veal piccata both with a side salad and water to drink. The salad was good. The eggplant was tough and the marinara sauce was just passable. The veal was horrible. Probably was not actual veal but some sort of flank steak. If it was veal it was definitely not pounded out correctly and was just blah. Hard to describe really. The sauce looked good. Plenty of capers and lemon but was overly greasy and just didn't taste right. Anyway, $50, $56 with the tip. The waiter was nice. Clinton is hard on good restaurants and very hard on mediocre ones. I hate it because I was really hoping that it would be great as there are very few Italian restaurants anywhere near the Jackson area much less really good ones. read more

How this business has gotten a four star rating is a mystery to me. Lunch today I started with a CLOSED sign on the door. When I mentioned it to the "staff" they countered with "the one out front says open", okay. With three people at the register I was ask how many - one, and then we all stood there until after an uncomfortable few minutes I ask canI be seated. Once seated my drink order was taken by one of the disconnected three. I was served tea and when my actual waiter arrived and I ask if they had lemon his response was yes another long pause and he ask if I would like some. Uh, no, uh just curious. Wow, talk about deferential attitude. Ordered food and a salad after a long wait, voila, they are both here at the same time. My eggplant parmesan was old and had been prepared so far in advance that the breading was totally mushy and barely warm. The edges had to be cut off being so hard that I could not chew them. The main thing I regret about this experience is that I tipped my server in-spite of his insolent treatment of me. The only thing fast was my check, and the only thing good is that I now know where not to go again. read more
