WOW WOW WOW!!!! This place & the entire staff is AMAZING!!! I could not believe the speed and efficiency at which this office runs. Everyone was super accommodating & EXCELLENT with children. I considered myself in for a nightmare bringing all 3 of my kids (one 18 months, my 5 y/o autistic son & my 7 year old daughter with dental anxiety)... but these women knocked it out of the park!! Not a single tear was shed & my kids ENJOYED their visit. All 3 of my children had been seen, xray'd, & sealed before I could even finish the first time patient paperwork. The staff here is simply amazing. I brought all 3 of my children, which is both great for my schedule but very hard to manage. Two of my children are neurodivergent and my other child is a toddler....needless to say my hands were a little full. For the most part, my children did well but 2 of my kids struggled at the end when they didn't get the toy they wanted (they have a cute toy machine kids can put a coin in for a random prize). I coached them ahead of time, but it still caused a great deal of distress....I need to figure out how to be more proactive next time. The staff was understanding and nonjudgmental! Dr. Hames is amazing. She was so friendly with the children and straightforward. My kids felt comfortable with her as well as the dental hygienists there. I really appreciate SC Dental! Liked taking my children here up until today's incident. I had a 3 o clock appointment which I was running late to. One of the office staff members called me regarding the appointment in which I said I was almost there and she said I had a 10 minute grace period I asked her if my children would still be able to be seen and she put me on hold to ask and make sure it would be okay. She comes back to the call and tells me unfortunately I had to reschedule in which I said these 10 minutes I'm late are the 10 minutes I have as a grace period I was already outside the building at this point. She then proceeds to say to me "yes BUT it's 4 of them in which I took very offensive and found very rude because the rules should apply to everyone no matter the amount of children being seen. I don't expect anyone to rearrange their schedule around me or my children especially if I'm late but the 10 minute grace period should apply to everyone. read more

Definitely won't be coming back here. I have been brining my kids here. And something was off for me but still decided to bring them. I mentioned to the dentist about my child's teeth grinding she brushed it off like it was nothing but was quick to recommend crowns. I don't think my child's teeth grinding was normal since it came about out of nowhere come to find out with a second opinion it is not normal and has to do with a restricted airway. This review is for the front desk. More specifically the older dark curly haired one that sits in the corner and the office manager. This office requires that you call back to confirm the appointment. I called and confirmed and while on the line, whomever I spoke to informed me that they had a lot of cancellations and wanted to know if I could change my appointment to 10AM instead of my original 9:30AM. She said that they were starting later that day. I told her I was unable to change it later due to a conflicting schedule. I stated that I could reschedule to a different day if keeping my 9:30 would be a problem. She stated that it wouldn't be. This is not my first time coming to the office with my son for his teeth cleaning. It has always been a very quick appointment considering the fact that he is only 2 years old. We arrive on time to the appointment (9:30AM). I note that no patients are brought back and that the office is quiet, indicating that they recently just opened. My son is not called back until 9:40. Right before the tech gets started she claims that she was just told that the dentist is running behind. (How can you run behind when you are starting the day?) I ask how behind and she goes to the back to ask. She says the dentist will be able to see my son around 10ish. I ask if the dentist is running behind or if she's just not here. The tech states that she doesn't know. We proceed with the appointment and after the cleaning I am told to wait. 10 passes 10:05 passes 10:15 passes. At this point I walk up to the front because my son is now upset for having to wait and I am needing to leave soon. I explain the situation and I explain how I had offered to reschedule if it was going to be an issue with the time. I am then told by the front desk women that they always knew she was going to be starting later, that I have the option to reschedule now (despite me already being at the office with a 2 year old for 45 min), and that because I declined being able to move my appt to 10AM it was essentially my fault that I'm waiting. It went back and forth with the same attitude that it was on me to reschedule the previous day despite being told on the phone there would be no issue. I also ask what time the doctor would be in and the front desk woman told me she doesn't know. How can you schedule clients but not know when the doctor will be in? I then ask to speak to a manager. When I finally do talk to and try to explain the situation, I am told that there was a "conflict" in her time. At this point the doctor has arrive (10:30AM an hour later) and the manager asks if I want my son to be seen. She brings me back to the room and leaves without allowing me to finish and without an apology. The doctor does a 30 second exam on my son. I am floored by this level of customer service or rather lack there of. I never yelled or raised my voice. I tried to just explain the situation and why I was confused. I explained that I had no issues rescheduling when I was on the phone the day prior if timing would be an issue. It's unreal that the fault would lie on the client because they declined a later time but said they could change the day. The entire interaction was unprofessional and I would not recommend this office to anyone. read more

Doctor is theeeee BEST! She actually care about her little patient. Since she has been taking care of my kids teeth. My kids never have cavities. My kids were traumatized by previous dentist but with Dr.Hame my kids now look forward to their cleanings. The office doesn't even smell like a dentist office. All women staff so kids don't have to be afraid and there's a movie always playing for them in the waiting room and in the dentist chair so they're distracted while anything like a cleaning or a filling get done. Small waiting area. Front desk is average at best. Children were rushed through. I looked at the yelp review before coming here but my assessment of this office is quite different from other yelpers. There are 6 chairs in a tiny front area and with any "children" related services, expect the patient plus 1 or 2 (guardians/parents). They wanted to maximize a small place by having more procedural areas but there's so many people that they can cram in before it becomes uncomfortable. It's uncomfortable. Front desk ladies are kinda snippy. When your jib becomes more important than your patients and your job isn't the patient, there's a problem. Personally I didn't experience any issues with them but with the snippy attitude I see, the overall in-out process, I don't need to come back here. There are so many others. read more

We had such a positive experience with Rihana today. My kids were a bit nervous about getting their teeth cleaned, but Rihana andwas incredibly patient, gentle, and kind. She made the whole process fun and interactive, which really put my children at ease. I cannot express enough gratitude for Dr. Hame and her staff my 10 year old daughter developed seriously anxiety almost phobia of the dentist (somewhere else). I have tried for the last year to get her treatment and was told to have her sedated (asleep). I could not imagine doing this every time she needed treatment and what is that doing to help her in the future? We took our autistic son here regarding a concern cavity. They were super nice and was willing to work with my son. It was quite difficult to get X-rays done but they managed to get two. They said not to worry about his cavity. The lady brushed his teeth and my son was okay about it. I was just very tired of putting my son to sleep for dental procedures so we gave this place a try. My son has been seeing Dr. Hame for quite some time and she is fantastic. But her receptionists need some serious training in customer service. I had to reschedule my sons appointment and someone by the name of Christina was incredibly rude and condescending and not to mention she hung up on me. No phone etiquette whatsoever. You would think that during this trying time we are all going through with a pandemic, that this place of business would be more warm and welcoming. What a disappointment for Dr. Hame. I rarely write reviews. Typically I don't feel that I have enough new, relevant information to warrant doing so. However, based on the current yelp reviews, I made an appointment with Dr. Ewa Hame. If I had read the review I am currently writing, I would not have. My 14 month old has several cavities. I was (and am, as I will be seeing another pediatric dentist) looking for practical suggestions regarding treatment options that don't involve anesthesia, including managing the situation until he is older. The doctor immediately asked if I was still bottle or breastfeeding. I said I was breastfeeding and she told me that I should wean him. I asked if she meant at night, and she clarified that while night weaning was the priority, she was suggesting that I completely wean him. I honestly couldn't have been more surprised if she suggested that I try feeding him cookies, or tap dancing for him. And for a child under two! That is some unscientific, antiquated nonsense. I basically said I was open to the idea of night weaning, but not cutting him off during the day. After this conversation, pretty much every question I asked about his teeth involved her reiterating that I should stop breastfeeding. I was not asked about any other aspect of his diet. She was aggressive with her opinions and definitely talked down to me. I don't know if I came across as difficult because I said I didn't want to wean him, or if that is just how she is with everyone, but I just keep thinking how that would have affected a younger version of myself. I can absolutely see young me being strong armed into thinking I was hurting my child. So, it's science time! The research that has shown a correlation between breastmilk and cavities has been pretty thoroughly debunked by studies that use a larger test base and/or actual breastmilk instead of lactose. Lactose is milk sugar, and while it is in breastmilk, it certainly isn't the whole shebang. In addition to lactose, the aforementioned milk also contains lactoferrin, which kills the bacteria that causes tooth decay. There is a thesis around that theorizes that even in a baby with genetic enamel defects, though the sugar in milk may still cause a slow decay, weaning could actually speed it up because of the lack of lactoferrin. I think this is particularly interesting: "The 1999 Erickson study (in which healthy teeth were immersed in different solutions) indicated that breastmilk alone was practically identical to water and did not cause tooth decay - another experiment even indicated that the teeth became stronger when immersed in breastmilk. However, when a small amount of sugar was added to the breastmilk, the mixture was worse than a sugar solution when it came to causing tooth decay. This study emphasizes the importance of tooth brushing and good dental hygiene." As for the difference between bottle feeding and nursing at night, with the latter the milk is released by active sucking, which is likely to be followed by active swallowing. It theoretically shouldn't be pooling in the child's mouth. Don't let anyone push you into making this kind of decision without doing your own research. Medical professionals are still people, and people are not always going to be right about everything. And I absolutely recommend fact checking me too, I am just a random person on Yelp. First visit there was I want to say...7ish months ago? Anywho...I have a young child (4) with special needs and an older daughter (5 then, now 6) who's easy going. I did note that he has special needs. They took 30 minutes after our scheduled appt to take us back...well, one of us. They took people back who arrived after us.... My son (4) starts getting a bit manic. They take my daughter back...was still waiting for my son to be called back so I took him for a quick walk around the building and told my husband to lmk when our turn was up. He was getting uncomfortable because that waiting room is very tiny...and there was a lot of people in it. My son gets nervous around strangers as it is. Receptionist didn't seem to care. Whatever, finally they call my son back. Then have us wait even longer in that chair... Nobody was ever really good with him to be honest. Nobody who saw him. It's easy to please my daughter so of course, it would have been a different experience if it was just her...but my son functions differently and they didn't factor that in once. Didn't even inquire further...Was it awful? No. I know how to calm my son...but they didn't factor it in at all. There's some folks who get it and some that don't. These people didn't. Every choice they made I had to counter and balance because they never once made it easy for us. I was spoiled by our last dentist. They had a large waiting area with separate seating areas for kids with different needs. They had a large open area for when you were called back. They took my son at the same time they took my daughter so that he wouldn't get antsy and most importantly, they took us back at our scheduled time. They were good with both of my kids, not just my daughter. So why am I writing a review now? Well, I was going to give another chance before calling this an all around bad dentist for us, but I call today and ask if I can get their paperwork filled out for the school and they let me know that the kids are due for their 6 month check up. Cool, let's book it. But they only have one appointment and they won't fill out the paperwork for my son (who by the way...hasn't had a cavity in his life and was seen within the last year) they won't fill it out for his school... Seriously that irked me. She hung up with me before booking my son too but at this point I'm debating if I even want to go back. Last dentist also used to let us know when 6 months was approaching too. ‍ I thought this would be an amazing dentist based on reviews. End of the day this is not the dentist for us. I am seriously frustrated with the experience I've had with them. :( read more
