Thought I'd pop on here to show some appreciation for this office. Every time I bring my daughter in it is a great experience. Everyone in the office is super friendly and makes my three year old feel super comfortable. The doctors are great with children and take such good care of her. She loves getting to pick out her toothbrush and sticker when she's all done! The doctors and front office always make sure to answer any questions I may have. Each experience we have with Murrieta Childrens dentistry has always been smooth sailing. We always feel so well taken care of here, and the etiquette of all the staff regarding discretion and making a child feel comfortable and not scared or nervous is just impeccable. They don't have certain conversations about treatment in front of the child which I really value since my children had a past dentist who wasn't very child friendly and that they were traumatized by during dental procedures. Here they are so efficient about scheduling as well. I feel like my children are such a priority here. I would recommend this dentistry to anyone who can appreciate high quality. The office policy is not to allow the parents to be with their kids during the visit. It's nonsense. Dr. Andrew Kim does not like to use a regular anesthesia. I have 5 kids and a couple of them are always scared to attend any dentist or Dr related place, but feel so comfortable when coming to See Dr Andrew Kim and his staff. They feel safe and comfortable every time they enter the doors. My kids don't have any concern with treatment given and are happy after each visit. We appreciate the attention given to each one of our children when we have any concerns or issues that have to be taken care of. I have two children with two very different dental histories. They are 8 and 10 years old now and have been coming since they were about 3. My 10 year old has one filling and needs considerable bedside manner whereas my 8 year old has multiple fillings/root canals and prefers not to be coddled (she loves her friend/hygienist, Tanya ). This office has different dental hygienists to meet both of my kids' bedside manner needs. I love the versatility. Our family appreciates the fact that this office puts the mental and dental health of our children first (i.e. I feel that, although I am well taken care of, catering to parents' emotions is not their top priority... as it shouldn't). We've had an overall excellent experience with Murrieta Children's Dentistry, and my 8 year old (despite all the dental work) still looks forward to her dentist visits. read more

Parents beware! I brought my 4 year old son in for an exam and they expected me to wait in my car while he was left with the staff alone. No ma'am to me that's super weird. Like most people, especially kids that young, will not speak out against authority figures. It doesn't matter if they're doing something "bad" or not -- kids are conditioned to respect authority and have less respect for their bodily autonomy. My husband and I brought our 2 kids here for general check-ups/exams last Thursday. The office is clean and nice, but other than the little toy area, you would have no idea that it was for kids. Kind of intimidating for kids, don't ya think? When I checked in for my kids, I was given 1 packet of paperwork. They said once that was complete the would give me the one for my 2nd child. (turns out they do that so that they can call child #1 in to the back while you're in the middle of paperwork for child #2.) Upon filling out paperwork, I came across a paper stating that they're a "closed door" dentist and all children are "unaccompanied by their parent".. which was bothersome to my husband and I. I asked about it. They said that's their policy, to help build a relationship with the child. My youngest is 3, not happening. So that started the visit off with me being a little irritated. They were taken back together because I made it a point, so x-rays and cleanings were done and then we met with the doctor for their exam. The doctor seemed nice, but very short. She spoke with the nurse during the exam, calling out their exam lingo. Once the doctor was done with both children, she said.. "their teeth look great, but they both have several cavities. The front desk will set up a treatment plan." And then she got up and walked away. I was so frazzled and already annoyed with this place, I didn't even have time to think or process. So I walked to the front, one treatment plan was going to cost me $900. The other would be $125 a visit, for possibly 4 visits. I told the lady, ""we have Denti-Cal with Medi-Cal, shouldn't all of this be covered?" Her response was, "No. This is what you'll have to pay." And that was it. No time for other questions, she walked away. After leaving, I glanced at the paperwork and it said that one has 9 cavities and the other has 6! I felt like there was noooo way! I felt even more deceived by this office because of other reviews I had read. So the next day, Friday, I called Denti-Cal to figure out exactly what is covered with our benefits. The lady said "everything." I explained what I had encountered with this office, and she was speechless. So she gave me a few numbers of other local dentists, and I have made arrangements to have my children seen elsewhere. I will also be calling Denti-Cal back to file a grievance against Murrieta Children's Dentistry. I am usually very thorough about looking into places and reading reviews before ever stepping foot inside.. and I dropped the ball on this one. But I'm leaving a review of our experience to help you make the right choice for your child(ren). I would never recommend anyone to Murrieta Children's Dentistry. read more

I only went here because of our insurance, there isnt many choices. The whole place lacks of any kind of child decoration, it's not that expensive. Get some murals or posters, hang some TVs in the rooms THAT WORK. The staff is nice but the part i dislike the most is how parents aren't allowed in the back. Their reason behind it is ridiculous. I honestly think they fabricate needs so they can get paid. And they expect the parents to just say ok, since they didn't see the X-rays or exam being done. Our first visit (cleaning. & exam) I was going to take my children somewhere else because of the stupid "no parents allowed in the back" rule and they let me back during the exam, the dentist talked very fast. While I did see the x rays he talked to fast I could barely process it. They said my child needed an extraction, i said no. The second time we went (for the repair work) was surprisingly quick. But my kids has a pleasant time, despite the procedure. read more

This place is a rip off. I went here cuz it's been hard trying to find somewhere that takes my insurance around here. They were nice at first and then I was instructed when I got there that I can't be with my child. Now I see why. My daughter said they were mean to her and talked nasty to her when she was back there. Then they told me she needs not one, but 5!!! Root canals! So far we have done 3 of them with them. At first I was like okay fine whatever. We went and did the first one and a filling and they told me she was "too wiggly" and they wouldn't be able to do the next set of teeth without a sedative. The robbers made me pay $115 for the sedative which was described to me as "a little stronger than benadryl" and they made me bring my own juice. C'mon seriously. You can afford a little juice? We used to go to the Super Dentist when we lived in San Diego and never once had to pay for anything with our insurance. Apparently here it's different? Not sure how but whatever. On top of that they only do silver fillings and crowns which they say getting the composite tooth colored fillings was an extra $100+ per tooth! Wtf?! Again, same insurance different city and she was given composite fillings for no additional charge. I seriously don't understand how they can charge up the butt like that when our insurance claims they cover everything 100%! My daughter went in today for what was supposed to be the rest of her teeth (the last 4 root canals) and they claim that she was again "too wiggly" to let them do it and that she started crying. I looked at my daughter and asked her if she cried (she didn't look like it, trust me. I know my kid!) and she said straight faced and normal "no!". Now they want me to pay them AGAIN another $115 for the sedative. When we were in the car my daughter said they are mean there and yelled at her. I don't trust these people. The blonde lady at the front is also the most condescending woman I've ever spoken to. She talked to me like I was stupid and was incredible rude at every interaction. Save yourself the headache, extra money, and spare your children the poor treatment and go somewhere else. Why on earth don't you want parents with their children? What are you hiding? And why on earth are you being MEAN to people's kids!?! You're a CHILDRENS dentist. Nope. Bye Felicia! read more

I have been taking my children there for 9 years. I have been totally satisfied from the front desk staff to the back office staff., and the doctors. When my child needs treatment, everything is clearly explained to me.. I did question the office policy at first, but after they explained to me that it is not a "closed" door policy, I was totally ok with it.. They have treated me and my children with great respect... I had been taking both my children here since they were babies and we went in last year for a routine cleaning. they told me my daughter had a cavity and it needed to be filled immediately. they also wanted to put her under anesthesia. I was very uncomfortable with this as I know it is dangerous no matter how experienced you are. I asked about other option. they said they could do the big numbing needle and wrap her in a papoose to stop her from moving. also they notified me I COULDNT BE IN THE ROOM FOR ANYTHING. I immediately said thank u and left. I started looking for another dentist for a second opinion. I finally found DR . KU. we went in they were amazing and friendly. there wasnt even doors on ANY the rooms so I could see everything and my kids could see me at all times. when they found the cavity they told me it was so small they could fill it without even numbing her. i just got it filled today. it took all of 5 minutes, NO NUMBING EVEN she was fine the while time. I cannot belive that murrieta children's dentistry would want to risk my child health for $800 . I am more than happy to spend whatever is necessary for my kids but to do that when it was so far from.necessary blows my mind. DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE!! read more

I went a few times to this children's dentist I could hear the main receptionist talking dirt on all of the customers, I felt so uncomfortable I never went back! 6months after leaving my son's filling fell out & 6months after that 2 of my daughter's fillings fell out. My wife took our 6 year old daughter in for a cleaning and sealer application. They called my daughter's name to go back and my wife asked to go back also. The assistant said it was policy not to let a parent go back with their child. After my wife insisted on accompanying our child in the exam room, the assistant spoke with the doctor and confirmed that parents are not allowed to accompany their children in the back room. My wife then stated that this was unacceptable. What sick things are they doing and/or hiding in the back that they would not allow a parent to accompany their child for a procedure? We will be finding another dentist. We would never recommend this dentistry practice. read more

Ive been coming here since 2011. The Drs are decent. But the front desk staff are very rude. Tring to speak with the Doctor's is impossible. Tring to get through on the phone is impossible. They wont pick up if they are busy. The only person that you can speak to is the manager Pam who never smiles and is extremely rude. She wont let you speak with anyone but herself. She claims there is no one above her. I have taken my business else where. Its a shame because the Doctor's are decent. You just cant speak to them. read more

I have been taking my four children to Dr. Hope since we moved to the area 4 years ago. The staff are very good with the kids, and the dentists are thorough and friendly. When I took my kids to the orthodontist for the first time, he praised the work that Dr. Hope had done to prevent the need for braces later on. Like another commenter mentioned, at first I didn't want my kids to get their teeth worked on without me. But my kids have gotten used to it, and even my kindergartener is totally comfortable on his own. I actually transferred to a new, more expensive dental policy so I could keep my kids with this dental group. They are great dentists. Definitely recommend these guys to anyone with kids! read more

My 2 children have been patients at Murrieta Children's Dentistry from 2012-2020. (First visited at 7 & 5 yrs old, now are 16& 14) We love this office. The front desk ladies are very accommodating, professional and KIND. The waiting room is always tidy and children love the play area. The hygienists do great work and were great when the kids got braces put on. The dentists always explain what they saw, their suggested plan of action, if any. The dentists are not pushy like some I've been to when I was a young adult. Kids are an EXCELLENT judge of character and my two kids actually enjoyed most of their visits. (One kid was told to brush better at 2 of her check ups when she was 12 yrs old. ) I like their honesty. As a parent dealing with scheduling 2 school age kids, the receptionist works very hard to try to accommodate us. We have recently moved out of state and HOPE our new dentist office is as great as Murrieta Children's Dentistry. read more

Unless you're okay with your child being sedated for every procedure, while you sit in the waiting room, this place is a no go. They did a filling and a crown on my foster son successfully with no sedation (because I rather intensely made my case questioning the need for it). When they brought him out, the assistant starts trying to make up a reason for sedating him next time "well he was a little wiggly after sitting.. I mean we didn't make him wait too long... but next time Dr wants to sedate." Also a good place to go if you enjoy arguing with the dentist because he thinks he has the right to determine what will be done to your child. We'll never go back. read more

As a mom new in the area,I find yelp reviews extremely helpful therefore feel I need to leave my feedback for other parents. I never take my kids there nor would I recommend them to family/friends. They were kind in helping set up appointment over phone. Once there, they gave me forms for each child not at the same time rather upon finishing the last one-- which I didn't think of it much at first. But as I gave back first child's paperwork and was given my second child's forms, my first child got called in. I grabbed the forms and started walk with him, little to know they would stop me right there- they said they take the child unaccompanied. I started questioning that it is not acceptable and I want to sign specifically on each kid's chart that I do NOT agree with the policy. Specifically that one of my kids is in the autism spectrum and Honestly regardless, any child would have anxiety being in dentist chair let alone with total stranger rather than their own parents. They went on and on in explaining it is for kids best interest and this is according to bla bla when I had to interrupt them and let them know the kids uncle happen to be a dentist as well but not in this area- they continued that "oh we are child specialist" well, I had to educate them that this clearly is not my kids first dentist visit but it's first time I am not being granted to be with my child. I am not sure what makes them think they are child specialist ? Just putting couple of toys out there in wait room with a none working TV? Finally i said I simply do not allow my child as a minor to be with an stranger even though that stranger is ur staff and I must go in. by the time I got to the back, I hear the women who was already getting X-ray of my older's, was telling my child "oh well then we don't get the X-ray from this tooth either" I asked what was going on and got the answer that due to gag reflex, can't take a few X-rays-- all I am thinking at that moment is 1- you guys will charge me for the whole X-rays without subtracting those you couldn't take 2- that's one of many reasons you don't want parents there. I told my child what to do and asked the lady to try again, sure thing 3 more X-ray with no problem. Then it was time for other child, they asked me to sit and hold the child on my lap. the X-ray protection coat they had me wear was soaking wet in front side, so much so that my hand and elbow was getting all wet as settling on the chair - I asked :" is this wet?" The X-ray tech said :" oh its from your older child' mouth , it's ok." ARE YOU JOKING? I do hope someone goes after them legally. Make the story short they NEVER EVER were able to do anything for my child in autism spectrum - they tried to blame it on autism and I had to tell them " this child has already done X-ray before, fillings before, and two teeth were pulled out before. With right dentist and competent & knowledge staff anything can be done on this child. While I was there I could hear a girl crying during her filling, I can only imagine what that girl went through , and if her dad who was sitting outside would ever know anything about her experience. I have had the worse day of my life today. This office was so unbelievable unprofessional it was not even funny. My son who is 5 was going in today to be sedated to get his dental work under control due to having bad tonsils this year. After waiting a hour and a half over my appt. time the Anesthesiologist came out to finally examine him and asked him if he had eaten or drank anything. He than said that he had a small glass of milk. The doctor than began saying well we can not work on you today or you will "DIE", because you chose to drink milk. She had said this to my 5 year old son. His mind went crazy and was saying the whole way home " mommy I don't want to die". This was her exact words!!!!!! Who in there right mind would tell a child that. I have recommend this doctor to so many of my friends and I will never do it again. This was the worse thing I have ever in countered. read more

I have been bringing my child to this office since she was a toddled 18 months now 10 years old. I feel saddened when I read a review that is less than 4 stars as with Suzanne S and Tim B's review. I have also had an experience with Kids Dentist and was not a fan. I believe kids are kids and will behave as such. I personally have found this office to be nothing less than professional with both Pam and Sharon providing excellent customer service always returning and verifying scheduled appointments. I have never NOT received a return call from this office, However, if this had been the case for me, I know I am not the only patient and would have just called back. Dr. Hope is awesome. As far as Suzanne's comment about not being able to go back with her child, this has never been an issue for me. Maybe the doctor felt YOU would create more stress or anxiety for your child. Whoa to make a comment the office is hiding something for a little anxiety liquid is a BOLD comment. Personally, I want my child to not be fearful and feel secure in having dental work done. But maybe you Suzanne want to instill fear in your child. So as far as I am concerned as a very over protective parent I see no alarm in not being allowed to the back room when a filling or other dental procedure is being completed. But I assume you would expect to be allowed into OR if your child needed surgery. Boy I feel sorry for that doctor's review. This office and staff have gone out of their way to accommodate my schedule and even squeeze me in should I be late. I personally have nothing but exceptional things to say and would highly recommend this dentist as if you have not noticed I AM A FAN! Yelp is wonderful but picking any dentist/doctor is a personal decision as are the opinions. So readers make your own decision and I think you will agree having a wonderful dentist and staff is so much better than a fuzzy toy after your child has been tormented elsewhere. This review is for Murrieta Children's Denistry. They claim to be a CHILDRENS specialty, but they have a close door policy and wouldn't let me go back with my daughter who was very afraid to have her fillings done. Even after I explained she just went off her anxiety meds and was extra nervous. What are they hiding that makes them not let a parent back with their child?! Also, the first visit was cleanings the week prior and my daughter told me they got saliva all over her face and I was back with them at that visit (all 3 of my kids. Guess its ok to be back there for that) and they didn't use the saliva sucking thing and didn't even talk to the kids! Very unfriendly place! The front office was friendly, however. read more

Yesterday was our first visit to this dentist, I am very impressed with their professionalism, cleanliness, and friendliness (especially towards the kids). I was surprised about their policy regarding not accompanying the kids back for their exam, but they did allow me to for one of my kids after I explained what his issues were and what I could do to help him. I was especially impressed with Dr. Hope, she's awesome! She didn't talk down to the kids or to me. I can't believe this place us still up and running!! The staff us unprofessional and rude. The doctors need to read some of these reviews and get a clue and turn their office staff! As a parent and grandparent when you are not allowed in the back office with your children and you hear the staff talking carp on everyone from kids to parents its hard to think what they are doing to the children in the back and why they won't let parents witness their work.
