Came here on at 11am on a Friday into the afternoon and we all had so much fun. There were some school trips there and all the chairs were taken but it still didn't feel crowded. Short lines, if any, for the lazy river and short lines for the slides. - The lazy river was a hit! 2'5" makes it easy for everyone to enjoy. You have to stay in your tube and the kids complied, mostly, LOL. My 5yo nephew quickly found his element and must've went around 50 times. When it gets busy and the line reaches a sign, you can only go around once. We did have to do that twice but the line getting back on was quick and eventually died down when the school kids left. By 1pm it was smooth floating. - They have four waterslides. Two of them are drop slides (just learned the term). The longer ones were so fun! You can even catch some air on the right slide haha. I think they're built more for the adults than the kids! The two drop sides are also so fun and give you that adrenaline rush. Or at least for me! I did unfortunately fall pretty hard into the water on the left drop slide and have regular issues with my ears as it is. I should have prepared myself better and am still suffering the consequences of not acting my age I guess HAHA. I will say the manager Jason Mata was incredibly helpful. He was able to put some alcohol drops in my ear to relive the fluid from my ear. However it came right back a few minutes later, no fault to him. Either way, it was so much fun and didn't ruin my time one bit! They also have a large pool with a partial deep section and a splash pad area for younger kids. There's also a beach/sandlot playground to enjoy. Lots of fun for everyone!! And the best perk is being able to bring your own food and drinks. This excludes any glassware or alcohol. Granted, we aren't Mundelein residents so we did have to pay the non-resident fee ($22/person) since Barefoot Bay is run by the park district but let me tell ya - it was worth it! This place is huge with a lazy river, two slides and a big pool. The customer service is also supreme and the parking is F-R-E-E! Everything ran smoothly from when we paid to get in to renting a locker. What really amazed me was how organized everything was and clean. It was a sunny day when we went and while it was packed, it wasn't so overwhelming and uncomfortable. We were able to find a nice little chair in the shade to set our stuff down in and then head into the pool. And oh em gee! The pool....how do i say this?! It was freakin' immaculate!! So blue, clean and although crowded-- you didn't feel like a small fish in a big pond, there was still enough room for everyone to enjoy themselves. This pool was such a blast and it was closely guarded by the lifeguards who were everywhere. There was also a separate pool that was like 12 feet (I think) alongside a diving board and a rock climbing wall which was really cool. There was also free life jackets to utilize as well. My hubs and I also relaxed in their lazy river which was nice and calm. You could either wade around with no tube, grab a go around with a single tube or share a double. It was so enjoyable to let go of the day's care and soak up the sun. Lastly, out of the two slides that were there; my hubs and I did the slide which takes the double tube and it was a lot of fun. It was surprisingly fast and long. We enjoyed it a lot! We didn't end up doing the single body slide but maybe next time because it looked fun too! The lazy river was also a bit of a disappointment since you have to grab a floatie from someone and there isn't any really organization to it at all. The food takes about 45-60 minutes plus about a 10 minute wait to even order. If you buy the pass with meal it doesn't make the waiting faster. The water slides close about 5-25 minutes early with no warning, they'll just let you wait and then once you get to the top they'll tell you start heading down. And on top of that the wave pool and the lazy river are filthy. I think this was officially my last visit here. Would never recommend this place to anyone.
