Update following Business Owner Response.
1. This occurred (as stated) on a holiday weekend and the regular vet WAS contacted, they have a message directing clients with urgent concerns to a UCC. But wait? Why does that matter? Are you saying we lied about calling the vet? YOU have some nerve!
2. A VET WAS NEEDED AFTER SERVICES AT YOUR SHOP... And.. You don't apologize?
Well, good.
Now everyone can see exactly what to expect from you and your "services."
3. The issue with matting was noted around the dogs collar, you know.. the opposite end of the dog? You shaved her hind area RAW.
4. There has been a sign posted outside of your establishment for weeks seeking an experienced groomer for hire. Perhaps it's because your former employee doesn't know their collar from my dog's formerly chapped chafed ass.
Lastly, and probably a point I should have stated previously, we were regular customers and prior to this, the services were adequate. Not 5 star with your cheap clown like ribbons, but grooming was decent. You made ONE horrible mistake, and you know it. Not only did you mess up, you didn't and still do not take responsibility for it.
I stand by my review and I'm glad you responded.. it says more about you than I ever could...
Clients beware.
-- Original review below:
Not our first appointment at this establishment but beyond a shadow of a doubt, OUR LAST.
We took our three year old Golden Doodle for a post COVID appointment, the first available appointment was 7/3. She was over due, but we had been groomed regularly prior to the shut down.. And we brushed her fine fur daily, but her collars did cause some matting around the neck, which we noted at drop off and were assured they would address.
When we picked her up, she was shaved down to her skin, and she had razor burn around her anal area, hind quarters and down her legs, her skin was bright red and irritated.
One call to our Vet and we learned this is NOT the first incident reported to their offices about this establishment and what they did could quickly have become infectious and LETHAL. Our poor dog was so uncomfortable she cried and had difficulty walking, it was AWFUL.
We also learned from our vet that currently, there are no legal certification and/or licensing requirements for a dog groomer in New York State, or a grooming salon or facility. The suggestion of education and certification is there, of course, but it is not mandated. There was a bill proposed after a rash of pet deaths at a different salon in NYS.
The salon did take responsibility and apologized, and they offer to reimburse the cost of the service appointment, but there IS NO REMEDY and NO EXCUSE for this!
Do NOT bring your pet anywhere near this business. I wouldn't let them groom a muskrat. read more
