Their procedure is to make your appointment for the day and keep your dog in a little cage till they get to him/her. I told her that I lived right down the street and was happy to run over when they were ready because my dog has never been in a crate in his life and just wouldn't handle it well. She was nice enough to try and help make some other suggestions but told me that her business wouldn't be a good fit for us. This is very sad for me because I like to do business as local as possible.

When we called to make our appointment, they did an over-the-phone consultation and gave us a price estimate, which was very competitive - especially considering they were the ones coming to us! They parked right outside of our apartment, showed us their van and their equipment (top-notch), and talked to us about how we wanted his hair cut. We showed them some photos of what we liked and were able to describe how we wanted it cut (it was our first time so we didn't truly know how to best describe it - something like a puppy cut but not too short because he's a very skinny pup), and they made our vision a reality. It was so nice not having to drive across town to go to another pet grooming salon where it takes all day long, and not knowing when he would be ready. It was nice knowing that he had individualized attention and we knew exactly when he was ready. Plus, we didn't have to travel anywhere! I can't describe enough how great the convenience was having them come to us and the assurance we had knowing that he wouldn't be neglected or kept in a cage waiting for eons. All-in-all, Juan and Heather were prompt, professional, and did an amazing job with our dog. They even gave us written details on how they cut it, so that they could repeat the exact cut for next time, which is SO helpful. We have been coming here for two weeks and every day we are greeted with smiles. When I come to pick him up he is always having too much fun and never wants to go home. The staff here always go above and beyond. They give me a full report on how his day went and let me know of any concerns. I am even fairly certain that they gave my little guy a (free) bath. My dog loves small dog daycare at Henry Loves Betty! She has been going once a week for the past 6…read moremonths. I work around the corner in Albany, so it's super easy to drop her off before work and pick her up on my way home. The daycare gang is all dogs under 40lbs at the Albany location, and I can tell my dog has played a ton by how sleepy she is when we get home! The staff is super friendly and kind, and they all take great care of my dog every time she is there. A couple weeks ago, my dog was a little hesitant to get in the mix with the other dogs first thing in the morning, so the guy working picked her up and hung out with her for a little to ease her into the day - so sweet! They have a great backyard so I know my dog is getting some quality outdoors time, too. I love following them on Instagram because they post cute videos of my dog and have taken some adorable glamour shots of my dog. Such a great place, reasonable prices, and confidence that my dog is safe and happy while she is there.

The appointments had a arrival window of a hour early to a hour later for arrival from your appointment time. We had a few times where they even canceled due to emergencies and we didn't mind. She seemed very nice. She was very apologetic. She said she never noticed my phone messages or emails. The business was having technical difficulties and she assured me the problem was an aberration. My 7 year-old Maltese, Frederick spent this last year being walked twice a week by several of the staff at HOTH. I receieved gracious notes, he had the opportunity to meet other dogs in the neighborhood, and I was always treated in a caring, professional, and thoughtful manner. Fred also made two stays at the Bed and Biscuit, being cared for round the clock by HOTH staff. I have NEVER boarded my dog, so leaving him with someone outside of family and close friends was a choice I made very carefully. The cost for walks and overnight stays was reasonable and something I could afford living on the very small budget of a graduate student. I always felt wonderful knowing Fred was getting some love and attention during my long days at work. I can't recommend their services enough to coworkers and friends with animals. One of the only reasons I am sad to be leaving the Albany area for a new job in St. Kitts, is not getting to work with Hounds on the Hudson!
