We got pictures and updates our whole trip, and when our pick up time had to be moved because we got stuck in traffic, it wasn't a big deal. The little boarding report card was adorable, and because our pup has nervous/excitement pees, Denise referred us to a trainer/dog psychologist that might be able to help. Our other dogs, boarded other places, have come home with cuts, ticks, smelling bad, or almost all the food we sent - this is the first time we haven't had anything to remedy once we got home. My 7 year-old Maltese, Frederick spent this last year being walked twice a week by several of the staff at HOTH. I receieved gracious notes, he had the opportunity to meet other dogs in the neighborhood, and I was always treated in a caring, professional, and thoughtful manner. Fred also made two stays at the Bed and Biscuit, being cared for round the clock by HOTH staff. I have NEVER boarded my dog, so leaving him with someone outside of family and close friends was a choice I made very carefully. The cost for walks and overnight stays was reasonable and something I could afford living on the very small budget of a graduate student. I always felt wonderful knowing Fred was getting some love and attention during my long days at work. I can't recommend their services enough to coworkers and friends with animals. One of the only reasons I am sad to be leaving the Albany area for a new job in St. Kitts, is not getting to work with Hounds on the Hudson!

After reaching out to have Amber return to daycare with a veterinary clearance, we received the following e-mail: Hi, We hope you guys had a wonderful weekend. We miss Amber as well and are happy to hear that her vet doesn't have any concerns. That being said, daycare can be extremely active, and messy as well during play (when pools are out, mud, etc), and we would never want Amber to get further hurt or sick in a vulnerable state. Due to her extreme and sudden onset of medical issues, we feel as a team that we can no longer provide the level of specific care Amber needs at this time. As much as we would love to continue seeing her, we feel that it would not be the best decision for her medically. I appreciate your understanding, I apologize for the inconvenience, and wish you all the best. WTF??? Is upper management now veterinarians too? Who are you to override a veterinary clearance? We thought that is why you have EVERYONE sign a waiver which releases you from liability. What we see here is ageism plain & simple - you do not want to attend to a senior dog who can walk, run & play because you have no staff and cannot be bothered oh, by the way, this is after we, as loyal clients did not sue you after our dog was severely attacked at daycare by a bully dog who had only just joined. Yes, we are loyal clients, we came back, we recommended you to others, you used our dog as a test dog for meets & greets with potential new clients! We have never been in arrears for payment, oh wait, we actually paid in advance! This is NOT how you treat clients! Our tenant was supposed to shovel for us, but his car broke down and he couldn't even make it home that night. We told Jessica about the situation and that our cats would be ok for a day. She said she would be fine, came by anyhow, climbed her way through over a foot of snow, and then brushed it off saying it was not a problem and we shouldn't worry about it. Now, that is dedication! By 2 years old Ruby had gotten her canine good citizen certificate and participated in various training/socialization programs. She is obedient, loving with all humans, especially kids and enjoys most dogs. Every so often certain dogs seem to flip her switch. On those occasions this big girl looks aggressive. Never has she hurt or touched another dog, but the barking and snarling concerned us enough to seek out a behaviorist. We found Sarah Todd through an internet search and respected her bio of credentials and experience. Speaking with Sarah on the phone prior to engaging her only confirmed that we had found a consummate professional. Sarah drove over an hour to consult with us. She allowed us to demonstrate Ruby's behavior in the environment and situations we encounter daily. Sarah spent our consultation time really listening to our concerns, giving us some important foundational information that we needed for a basic understanding of reactive behavior and excellent suggestions for activities, reinforcement and responses to modify Ruby's behavior. The harness she recommended has been a game changer for enjoying walks with Rubes. Sarah followed up the consultation with a written account of what was discussed. The suggestions weren't a magic bullet because they required consistency, but the effort is so worth the result. Basic training is a pet owner's responsibility to their pet and to themselves. But when you are faced with an issue that truly impacts the ability for your dog to be socially integrated, I can't emphasize enough the value of engaging someone like Sarah who has the experience, training, and ability to convey the information in a way that makes sense and is able to be applied practically in a way that allows you to live your life with your dog, not around them. I took my maltese here for boarding and grooming for almost 16 years (my dog just passed). In this time the cost for a grooming only went up three dollars and some change! I was always happy with his cut and reasonable time it took for him to be groomed. Amy used to groom him, she was the best. My dog always came out with a big smile on his face. The staff are ALL beyond kind and considerate towards my dog and I. I boarded him at least once or twice a year (for 10 days) in the suites with the webcams. You must book early for these on holidays. I loved checking in on him and watching him play in the doggie day care (while I missed him on vacation). The staff are attentive to any medications and/or dietary needs, and will call you if there are any major problems while boarded. This business is so great that there is a strong following of people who keep it really busy, so plan ahead for a grooming and boarding. It will be worth it. I totally recommend Pet Spas and Suites. They are so personable and caring. This isn't run like a corporate pet store where you never see the same people again the next time you come in, the crates are half the size at the corporate chain pet store. I went once and they were rude. I had a friend whom the corp. chain didn't take notes on her dog who had a hip problem (nor did they listen to the owners) and the dog ended up getting hurt- requiring surgery- costing thousands of dollars and pain and suffering to her dog. That would never happen at Pet Spa. It will be sometime before I get another pup but I know where I'll be taking him/her when I do. I will miss the Pet Spa & Suites family until then.
