In a few sentences, this is a space dedicated to making you feel good about yourself. The downstairs apothecary is filled with herbs, tinctures and crystals to help you with any ailment. You can also book appointments for Akashic readings or with a reiki master in their well appointed healing rooms. Upstairs, there's a simple and beautiful space for styling but at night you can find a variety of health and wellness classes to appeal to any age or background. I recently attended a class here with Woo Woo Company and was so excited to be able to meet like minded people in such a welcoming space. I only wish I had more time to explore the apothecary downstairs but it's probably a good thing because I could see myself dropping dollars there!

Story time! My lashes initially done in Jacksonville, FL and then at another salon in DC since…read moremoving here in January. While I've had lash extensions since November, not once did any of the techs at the other salons tell me the extension length I wanted was WAY too long for my natural lashes to support. I was having to spend tons of money each week to get a fill because my natural lashes just couldn't support the weight. Still being a newbie to extensions, I knew something didn't seem quite right with my current extensions but I just didn't know for sure. I decided to switch salons and booked a "fill from another salon" and was told to text photos of my current lashes to the Art of Lash. Within 10 minutes, Malin called me to discuss my current lashes and the possibility that they won't be able to fill on them. She suggested we re-book as a removal and full set (which is precisely what we did). When I arrived to Art of Lash for my consultation and (possible) fill, Christina sat down with me and completed a consultation before looking to the damage that had been done by other places. This is the first time I've had anyone really take me through the steps and ask me what I was looking for. She provided pictures of different shapes and before/afters of people to show the results. When I finally laid down and Christina saw my lashes, she was pretty upset. She said there was 1) WAY too much glue 2) way too much length (only 30% of your lash length max, mine were more than 50%), and then 3) multiple extensions glued together- meaning there was twice the amount of weight per lash. NO WONDER WHY I HAD SUCH A HIGH TURNOVER RATE!!! My lashes simply couldn't support the extension that were incorrectly and unskillfully applied by other salons. Of course this meant Christina had to remove my old extensions and then apply a full new set. Yes, it was a lengthy process (especially if you're not someone who can fall asleep aka me), but it was SO SO worth it. My lashes look amazing now and are much healthier with a normal turnover rate. When the appointment concluded, Christina was super helpful in giving me aftercare instructions, recommending a cleanser, and recommending I use a lash serum (since I like length & the extensions from before damaged my natural lashes). At the other two salons before this one, I was NEVER told how to clean and care for my lash extensions so this was so incredibly refreshing. Yesterday, I had my first 2 week fill. This was the first time since November I have been able to retain lashes this long and not look like a crazy person. Christina informed me my lashes were growing back in pretty well & my retention rate was awesome. Amazing what can happen when the proper length is used and care instructions are given! Art of Lash has changed my world! Moral of the story: if you're looking at reviews on here to make an informed decision, you've found your lash place. Don't risk your lash health just for cheaper prices elsewhere because this salon is 110% worth the cost. Christina is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and an overall kind person. The salon is gorgeous and has wonderful aftercare products for sale as well! You won't regret getting your lashes done here!

I made a mistake and asked for more drama than I ultimately wanted and when I called her she talked me through ways to lighten it up, and was even willing to drive back an hour to meet me to adjust it. The misunderstanding was 100% my fault since I didn't provide inspiration pics and wasn't clear on what I wanted. The initial look she created was stunning but slightly too much for the context of the performance - but slightly adjusted it was absolutely perfect and I got compliments all night.

I use to get them done every 8 weeks, but now that my lashes are longer I noticed they can last up to 10-12 weeks. I also noticed my lashes got so much longer after I was doing these lifts for a year. Semra is amazing. She's always gentle with my lashes and takes amazing care to make sure they look good. I always leave satisfied with my lashes. My eyes are usually very sensitive as well. When I use to get regular lash lifts, my eyes would get irritated. But with the yumi lash lifts, my eyes aren't irritated. I think the chemicals are more gentle than regular lash lifts. Also I love the natural look of these lashes. They're so curly and long and just naturally pretty. I also got my brows done twice here. I usually don't get my brows done because I don't really care about my brows as much as I do my lashes lol, but Semra made my brows look really nice as well. I was impressed by how different I look with them shaped better. I will think about doing my brows more often here

I visited Semra's studio twice and she gave me a severe allergic reaction (Google PPD allergic reaction and HD Brows and BrowSculpt) that left me with severe hives on my face and extreme swelling of the eyes/ face for which I had to see three doctors and had to use six separate medications. It took me over a month to fully recover (I visited her salon Sept. 17, and am only now fully recovered as of late Oct.). After I told her about it, the only apology she gave me was "sorry to hear about it :(" I asked her for a refund and she refused, not even refunding me the tip or the cost of the service that caused the allergic reaction. On top of that, when I sent her the pictures, her reaction most generously could be understood as ignorance about a very common allergy that occurs due to the chemicals she uses in the line of work she's been in for ~30 years and at worst as accusing me of lying. She refused to take any accountability even when her actions seriously harmed a customer. I'll let you draw whatever conclusions you believe appropriate from my experience.

Unfortunately, my flight was delayed by 3 hours due to weather, so I wouldn't be able to keep my original appt time, and I was worried I wouldn't even have time to get my makeup done at all because I was already going to be late to the event. Diti was so understanding when I texted her about my delayed flight and she was so kind to move her schedule around to accommodate my later arrival time. When I arrived at my hotel, she was there waiting for me and ready to get right to work. Diti did an excellent job on my makeup. My skin is kind of a challenge for makeup sometimes because I get breakouts, and have dehydrated skin that also easily gets very oily with makeup. Ive had my makeup done countless times for photoshoots and events, and although it will look okay right after it's done, it *always* looks greasy after one hour. This is the first time that my makeup stayed flawless for the whole evening. I didn't even have to blot any oil with blotting sheets. Diti did a really beautiful job covering my skin imperfections without it looking cakey. She gave me a really pretty bronze eye that looked amazing with my tan. She also added the perfect amount of darker color to sculpt and give dimension to my face without it looking obvious. There are many makeup artists who can put together a nice look, but Diti truly is an artist. Beyond the makeup, she was so sweet dealing with me when I was a nervous wreak about my flight being delayed and rushing to get ready. She completely calmed me down and gave me a beautiful makeup look when we were cramped for time. She was really easy to talk to and gave me a few bits of advice for some of my makeup concerns. I would recommend her to anyone and will absolutely be using her again next time I am in DC.
