I love Sally! I stumbled upon this tucked away salon earlier this year when I was looking for someone to do my hair/make up for my birthday. I was so lucky to find this place! Sally has done my hair and make up for 3 different events and each time she came up with a totally unique, creative look for me. She also colored and cut my hair two days ago and I couldn't be happier. She always listens to my vision for how I want to look and then I let go and trust her to work her magic. I always feel beautiful stepping out of her salon. Every other stylist I've met at her salon has been friendly and helpful. Their customer service is truly impeccable and they don't cut any corners. Prices are TOO LOW in my opinion and I usually end up paying more than what she charges--take into account the time she spends on you, costs for coloring, hair cut, styling and make up...cost for materials, etc. I usually expect to pay double what she charges. Really great salon! I called up last minute for a hair cut and color while I was in the area visiting my parents, and Sally squeezed me in. My hair color was a mess from other stylists, and (as Sally pointed out to my surprise) my hair cut was completely lopsided. She gave me amazing highlights and color, along with a shorter (but much healthier) cut that I adore. She was very knowledgable and reasonably priced. I have been a hair client of Sally's for over a year now and frankly she saved my hair from total melt down. I had gone to another salon and my hair was so damaged it was breaking off. I went here to get my hair done for a wedding. The lady who did my hair was very unorganized and seemed really negative with her staff. I asked her for a small bang trim and she proceeded to do a full hair cut I didn't ask for, than at the end tried to charge me 50$ and was pretty rude about it. I have been looking for a new stylist and colorist since Luis Licari closed their Los Angeles location years ago. I've tried here and there and was never happy with both color and cut from one place. I went to Sally at Scandia and it was wonderful. She gave me exactly the cut I was looking for, which is interesting because I didn't give her a picture of what I wanted like I had with everyone else. The color was a lovely gold and when I got home that night, everyone loved it. I decided it was time for a haircut and this place is literally next door from my house. I called for an apt and I called for an average price range from a normal bob. When I got there, they were super nice. I wasn't sure who actually worked there and who was hanging out though. A foreign woman worked on my hair. She seemed to know what she was doing except even when I was adamant about how I wanted the final length the stylist kept telling me she wasn't going to cut it that short. Afraid to leave mid-haircut or risk her ruining the cut I just let her finish. The haircut took 3 hours. Never in my life, have I had a haircut take that long but I knew it was because she was trying to fix the simple bob I wanted. By the time I left, It was a an average cut and the worst part is that it was way too expensive for the results. I am originally from the east coast where haircuts are at most $50. In fact, I went 7 years paying $20 for my haircut and I loved my haircut. This haircut was quoted at $50 but the stylist at the end insisted that it was $80. It felt like I was paying for some lady to spend 3 hours trying to fix the hair cut she messed up herself. Overall, I wont be back and I urge people to consider carefully when asking for a specific haircut from this place. They seem like they can do simple hair procedures but expect to pay more than its worth also. read more

I am so happy I took a chance on Scandia Salon. What an experience. Sally took me quickly, listened to my concerns, explained what had happened with my last haircut, and apologized that the only way to fix it was to but my hair really short. I figured, what the heck, it couldn't be worse. In fact, it was SUPERBLY BETTER. I have never had so many compliments on my hair. Short though it may be, Sally was an artist. She didn't just lop it off, she gave me a beautiful style that will grow out correctly. Now, though, I'm not sure I want it to grow out. Fabulous little salon! Sally cut my hair and did a wonderful job! My previous salon fried my hair a bit, but Sally's highlight and cut brought my hair back to life. Also had a facial and peel done here, and they were both wonderful! My skin was a bit of a wreck too, as I run a lot and I tried a couple different product lines that were unsuccessful. Once I had my facial with Sally, I felt back on track and love the results I've see so far. She's very much in education, which is nice to have things explained rather than just imposed on you. Maria gave me an excellent haircut at Scandia Salon and was able to take me as a walk in. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, Maria herself was pleasant to chat with, and I couldn't be happier with the cut. However, I neglected to ask what the cost of a cut was before receiving it, and had some major sticker shock at the end! $80, plus tip! That's a ridiculous amount for a cut, wash and dry! I have a fairly simple cut, so it is not worth it to me to pay that much. I probably will not return here again, even though I like the haircut very much. read more

My men's hair cut was extremely rushed very uneven and when I asked the male stylist to even it out he said it won't matter depending on the way you style it. Didn't use any styling products and sprayed some water on it. Let's not forget the bald spot I have on the side of my head now. Extreme unprofessionalism. Do not waste your time Or money! I have been going to Sally to have my hair colored for about 5 years now. I am an easygoing person but I am very picky about where I get my hair colored. I have had some bad experiences in the past. I feel so lucky to have found Sally. First, her salon is located 2 minutes from my house. However, I would travel 15 miles if I was happy with my hair colorist so proximity is not my primary reason for going to Sally. Sally has so much experience coloring hair and it shows. She does an amazing job coloring my hair. The color is so pretty. People tell me all the time how much they like my hair color. It is light brown with some highlights. Sally is also really fun and kind and I love talking to her. I am a loyal customer and will continue to be. Oh and her prices are really good! read more

Went to the salon for the first time.. the drive along the coast is 'tension relief' from the otherwise mob-riot-mentality usually found inland. The shopping center is getting a much needed face lift.. and had a lite lunch in the Mexican Restaurant downstairs.. very good.. About the salon.. . . Sally is very professional and managed to put my questions about being a first-timer to rest with her hands on approach to men's hair cutting. Rather than the usual mindless banter... Sally had something to say.. and kept the conversation lively while doing her magic. In total. this salon deserves the attention of the community.. and support of the folks with hair.. small humor there.. when I left.. .. Tina is the best! When I started going to her my hair was frizzy and wouldn't maintain the color longer than a week. She put color and highlights in my hair the 1st time and straightened it. I had to go to a work function and I have no received so many complements on how beautiful my hair looked. The next time she did a Keritan treatment and my hair has never looked my smooth and shiny and it feels so silky. My husband loves to touch my hair. I wish I had started going to her 20 years ago. I have recommended her to family and friends and everyone has loved the way she has done their hair! There are many salons that offer eyebrow waxing, however it doesn't mean they are actually "skilled" at brow shaping. Eyebrow shaping/waxing should be regarded as a specialty service and one should feel confident the service being offered will be a professional & pleasing outcome. After all the eyebrows are a focal point on a woman's face. I cannot express how upset & irritated I am with the results of my brows. It will take over a month for them to grow back. In the meantime they look like the eyebrows you would draw on a happy face ^^ That's the ONLY exception where this is cute. My personal experience was not a pleasant one. My eyebrows were over waxed, the hair that represented my natural shape & arch were waxed away. The front of the brow should align with the upper bridge of your nose. The inner fronts (a good 1/4" on both sides) of my brows were waxed off as well. There were signs that the above would happen, even as nice as she was she didn't seem prepared for me, and I should have got up and left when her tweezers were missing. Ladies, as impatient as we are when it comes to our grooming. Stick with those that do beautiful crafted work. Convenient isn't always a win win. I'll gladly make the drive to my professional, skilled & trained eyebrow shaper in LA any day. Lesson learned. I chose to give zero stars. read more

Not that impressed. I walked in for a blow dry. They have advertisements all over that it is $35. I paid $55. The salon is in a nice location. It seems clean and taken care of. But I paid extra for the worst blow out ever. I will just continue to go to the blodry bar in Torrance instead. read more

I was so lucky to find this salon on my first try after moving here from the east coast last summer. Thanks to the positive reviews on Yelp and the convenient location, I decided to check it out. When I called to make the appointment, I asked for their best colorist and Sally (owner) recommended Maria Porter. When I arrived for my appointment, both Maria and Sally consulted with me for at least 20 minutes to determine what I wanted, to ask about my "hair history", and to go over several options and approaches. They both really know their stuff and Sally uses only the best products (Goldwell). I was sold on that first visit and have seen Maria three times since. She is an expert with color chemistry, consistent in her application, and a meticulous stylist. It's a bonus that she is a really sweet person and fun to spend time with. My hair is my last treasure from my youth and believe me, I would not trust it to just anyone. Maria is my gal -- my hair never looked so good! read more
