the wardrobe; good thing we weren't here a week
    Adrian B.

We've never seemed to be lucky with hotels in Copenhagen. OK, we may be choosy, but they never live up anywhere near our expectations. We expect the hotel to be designed for the paying customer; sadly, its designed for the Hotel. This one is definitely on the no-repeat list What was most annoying (otherwise I will be here all day): * the room was not so big, but OK, that's how it is * the shutters kept coming down automatically with the sun, so you had to keep pressing the button to send them back up again * you can't really unpack as there is nowhere to put your stuff; but they clearly assume you will only stay one night / have only a small suitcase * no real hanging space, even for jackets or for a dress(es) to be hung, never mind coats. This is not even a business(man)'s hotel - see photo of wardrobe. Evidently, all women must now wear trousers? * as for the shower - see photo - the doors are magnetic - great fun trying to get in and out - I'm not extra-large, but it was not easy, and made more difficult if your partner is using the basin beside it. And there are gaps, so water comes out on the floor (more towels please) * there is no provision in the shower for your own toiletries; people do not necessarily want to use those provided for many reasons; putting them on the floor, then bending down to get them, isn't actually a solution; door in the way * the towels are too small - yes, really; no bath, so no bath towels * of course, they couldn't provide a double duvet (we asked), so you are left fighting the two stupid duvets, as ever * then there was breakfast - there are 100s of seats (excellent)...but they were all full, and since no-one was clearing away (total mess), it was a struggle to find anywhere. When we did, at last, in a galaxy far, far away, I can confirm that the croissants were great * even the bar was not a welcoming experience; and sooo slow * concierge - hmm - you have to pay for storing your luggage; you go downstairs, find some empty lockers (large and small - what if things don't fit?), and you do it all yourself. There were guests from overseas. Having figured it out, we then had to help 2 families who had no idea what to do * we mentioned all the above as we checked out - it was clear that the desk people had no idea what these rooms looked like, or perhaps, simply didn't appreciate why these were even issues * finally, the payment system had hiccups - it could not differentiate between 2 payments made, as there were no references, so the bank queried if there had been a double payment; more queuing and waiting to get that sorted Poor on so many fronts

This hotel is located in the central part of Copenhagen close to all the main attractions and transportation. It's very modern building with an attractive Decor. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are large and clean. Breakfast next morning was fantastic and very well presented a la buffet style. It is included in your stay. A very international chain, with customers from many parts of the world.

Nice spacious room. Wide comfortable bed Bench couch near the window. Centrally located about 0.7 mile from city hall plaza Beautiful walking oaths along pond just across the street. Rent bikes or push cycles right there. Decent breakfast restaurant downstairs with very attentive staff

14th floor with excellent view of the lake

Supersatfied! We actually had reservation made for a room at Scandic Webers across the street. But when we got there they they told us the bad news, handling everything very professionally. Even giving us a voucher for the bar, for the trouble. At Scandic Copenhagen we got an upgrade to superior (with superior view of the lake). The room was super nice! We stayed on 14th floor. Super friendly professional staff! Kudos to Jakob H handling it all very well! Even here we got extra vouchers for the trouble! This is taking care of guests! Chaotic breakfast - went down around ten. HYSTERICAL. Next morning we went down one hour earlier - still chaotic. Go long before 09 or after 10.15. For some reason hotel has a quarter for children with their mascot Sigge at 9 am... Not very clever in my opinion. This seems to be the hour when most guests (even the ones without children) prefer to have their breakfast. So try one hour later or earlier! Same prices in the bar as at mist other places in CPH - pretty expensive. 2 lager and peanuts was DKK150! Garage DKK 195. Parking is free during weekends on the streets, but the spots just outside the hotel entrance fills up pretty quickly, and the staff didn't recommend parking elsewhere, due to burglers. Cleaning and making bed every third day if not especially asked for. Face products in bathroom. No towel for feet. The hotel is perfectly located for cooler hipster trendy neughborhood instead of Strøget. And I would definitely stay here again. Or at Webers ;)

Room 1013. Our twin beds...we thought it was odd, but they were comfortable even though the mattresses were thin.
    Kim M.

Think "IKEA." Now think "IKEA" in a really good area within walking distance of pretty much everything downtown Copenhagen. The Scandic Copenhagen isn't an impressive hotel, but it IS a clean, fairly comfortable hotel to stay in while you're visiting the city. (Or in our case, before we left on our 2 week Princess Cruise) It has a nice lobby with a bar and an outdoor park-like area for smokers. Nothing to really be overjoyed with, but we slept comfortably, the bathroom floor was heated and the shower was good. We did have 2 twin beds, which we thought was odd, the mattress looked thin but they were surprisingly comfortable. (It's possible we were overly jet-lagged and would have slept on anything) Tivoli and Strøget (Copenhagen's main shopping street and the longest pedestrian street in the world) is within a nice walking distance, but we did, however, need to take a taxi to Copenhagen Street Food on PapirØen and back to the hotel from Nyhavn. Note: Breakfast is impressive and not to be missed!!

Good stay Positives:…read moreshort walk from Central Station, restaurants, grocery & Tivoli. Loved that our room had 2 full bathrooms. Good breakfast & cocktail hour. Very good customer service. Negatives: lift not operational for part of our stay (but they did haul our luggage up to the 4th floor and offered free drinks to all until it was repaired), some wear in our room and our fridge door wouldn't shut fully, our room lock stopped working (didn't realize it was unlocked all day while away -although afterwards they did leave an employee outside our room so we could leave AND left us some gifts for the trouble). Overall a pleasant stay for us. The staff was helpful and accommodating and the location was quiet and good for transport.

The wine offered during happy hour is a nice offering, and the lobby can get quite busy during this time. The breakfast is nice and offers a good assortment of items, but can become repetitive if you're staying for longer duration as the items are the same each day. The rooms are small and cozy, however the bathrooms are even smaller. The shower is directly adjacent to the toilet and is separated only by a shower curtain which will get the floors of the bathroom wet. A nice hotel option close to the train station.

The vibe is Balinese which threw me off-- Im used to a Scandi vibe everywhere Ive stayed in the city. The all organic delish breakfasts. The bedding and fabrics in the room are also organic! Its soo fun to stay here, theres a sauna with massage services, there are Vespas in random parts of the buildings and courtyard and staff wear Indonesian style uniforms. Inside the room, every detail was well planned and designed for practical functional use. I was sooo into the heated bathroom floor, I made a point to go without slippers. :) The small hotel bar/resto hosts serves superr delicious food and drink, ask for Franco. The breakfast buffet was delicious as well and had a variety of options. The room was nicely decorated, bed was comfy, heater worked well during the winter, and there were amenities that we weren't expecting (toothbrush, toothpaste tablet, etc). I'd definitely stay at a Guldsmeden hotel again!

They give you a code and place it in a locked and video-monitored closet down in the basement. It was easy to do and safe for your belongings. After some exploring, I returned to the hotel around 4 PM and finally checked in. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my single room had been upgraded to a larger room for free. I was stoked to hear that and loved the room and location they gave me. The room was beautifully furnished and was very clean! The only downside is the no AC. The temperature that day was in the low 60s (60-63 degrees). This may sound nice, but it was rather toasty in my room. They had a standing fan that, unfortunately, did not rotate, but it helped somewhat. They give you very heavy-duty duvets that are better for winter weather, but thankfully, I opened some of the windows in my room, which made it more bearable to sleep at night. Fantastisk Sted At Gå Ned I København!…read more SITREP If you don't read Danish, that's my excited utterance of "Great Place To Crash In Copenhagen!" And a shout out to my yelpie Bridget W. and my trippy Mette for both cluing me onto this veritable hostel paradise! THE SETUP So what happened is on my flight out of Stockholm, Sweden, I ended up with a one (1) day layover in Copenhagen before going on to San Francisco. Now, this was PLANNED - I knew I had the layover: it was either this or pay $400 more for the next least expensive round trip between San Francisco and Stockholm (and back). As it turned out, I was already spending 10 days in the Baltic States with friends, hitting Sweden, Estonia, Russia and Finland. Unfortunately, there was no time in that itinerary to hit Denmark (nor Norway, for that matter, though technically, although also part of "Scandinavia", Norway is not a Baltic state). So an extra stop on the return leg in Copenhagen for a full day presented itself to me and I was happy to take it. DOWNTOWN DISTRICT AND CLOSE TO AIRPORT As soon as I jetted back into Copenhagen Airport (my 2nd time here in addition to my 1st two (2) hour layover in this airport on way to Stockholm), I jumped into the rail-car at the adjacent train station. Not more than 12 mins, I was at the downtown Central Train Station, and only a block and a half from Urban House! URBAN HOUSE It's right on the corner, with the front door in the middle of the block (just a block and a half up from one of the train station's entrances). https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=JZdnyOCkTnIibGTVoHJ-bA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w The fees are very reasonable: at the time I was making my reservation for the middle of July, it was $35 a night in a dorm room. I pulled the trigger on a SINGLE room with a bathroom for only $94.71/night. Easily just a third of the cost of even the more "moderately" priced hotels in Downtown Copenhagen, near the airport. And most of the time I would be on a walk-a-bout and not in the room anyways, so I didn't want to waste my money there. The room didn't have a TV anyways - entertainment was outside of the room. ENTERTAINMENT! ..and speaking of entertainment, Urban House had a full-on bar / cafe / "Student Union"-feel open area at street level. In fact, the guy serving beers, took a quick break so he could check me in. The gal that was serving breakfast the next day was the one who checked me out: as it turns out, a good consolidation of tasks combined in their multi-talented staff. I ventured out in the afternoon and evening (twice actually) to grab some excellent Thai food back in the Train Station. And then again to a bar a few blocks away that was hosting a Jazz festival. There was plenty to do, places to eat, immerse oneself into the night life, all within blocks of Urban House. No car needed. THE ROOM As mentioned no TV, but that was not missed. There was a desk and chair which was nice since this is where I spent any of my waking-time while in the room. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=NuynCk7VfBPS6-Fn4XhFuQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w The bathroom was a fascinating engineered piece of configuration, especially when it came to the adjacent proximity of the toilet and shower: a good economy of space! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=AJLhvC82t2aCaZBooEwbAw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w There are never enough pillows wherever I go (hotel, motel, etc.), and unfortunately, this went doubly so for this. It's rare when I have to dip into my travel gear and find a jacket and extra pair of pants and fold/roll them up just so I can get a bit more height on the shallow pillow they give you. It is what it is. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urban-house-k%C3%B8benhavn-2?select=T9RWvTNb8ZgaFlkcvFW5uw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE LOWDOWN A reasonably affordable stop when touring through Copenhagen. Should I find myself traveling alone in this fair city once more, I totally would consider staying here again.

We got a room that overlooked Tivoli, so that was a unique experience, especially since there was a rock concert one of those nights that was playing right outside (and the hotel gave us 2 cans of Mikkeller beer to enjoy the concert with). You also get free access to Tivoli by staying here, on all of your days including days of check-in and check-out, just ask the front desk for wrist bands! And it's the premium pass with all the rides. I didn't realize that until we got there and had purchased tickets beforehand, but the hotel advised that I could go to the service desk and get those refunded, which they did without a fuss. We booked 2 nights via points through Hyatt and it was more than worth it, since we spent 40-45k/night and the cash rate was going for over $1k/night. Availability might be limited so book early. The room can feel a little dated, but it's part of the historical vibe with creaky wooden floors and antique furniture. Nevertheless the restroom is modern and clean. The free breakfast we had is amazing. Not sure if it's free for all, but we have Explorist status with Hyatt if that mattered. It was quality over quantity, but man, quality. There was this truffle scrambled egg that was so good. Check out the Nimb bar too, the ambiance is classy yet casual, and the drinks are uniquely presented. Service is great too! Our waitress actually took time after getting our drinks to chat with us and ask where we're from, how long we're visiting. It's a pricey place, yes. I will, on the positive side let you know the property itself is nice, but on principle alone will adamantly and vehemently let everyone know about my experience as fair warning... DO NOT RESERVE WITH THE HOTEL NIMB!

The bed was comfortable and the covers were warm. The bathroom and shower were clean. They had great amenities such as a fitness center, cinema room, arcade, bar, coffee, pool table and hangout room, some of which are an extra cost. If you have time to spare, walk across the street and check out the canal.

Decent private bathroom. Only one towel for your stay. If you want another towel, you can get it for a charge. We had a private room. Lots of outlets if you need them. Our bed was sandwiched between the wall and window, so to enter or exit the bed you had to crawl out. Literally no walking space. No bedside tables. The only way to open a suitcase is to take it out in the balcony or hoist it onto the bed. The bed was comfortable, but the pillow felt cheap. The duvet seemed dirty. The floor was dirty....we tested with a piece of wetted toilet paper to check. I don't understand its description as a 'luxury' hostel. It was convenient to public transport. It felt safe. Next time I would spend a bit more money for more comfort. The small space was really hard.
