When I first seen Scandinavian Design furniture, I fell in love with it. It was furniture that I would have designed for myself. I loved that the furniture is different and unique; which appeals to my background as a Interior Designer. I am a new home owner, and purchased a home in Vacaville. As a new owner, I wanted new furniture. So I decided to go to Scandinavian Designs and purchase my furniture. The first person, that greeted me was Angie; who were so nice, accommodating, friendly and professional. I did get to meet other Agents who were also friendly and showed professionalism as well. Working with Angie made my day and experience that much easier. She truly cares about what you need and went beyond and above to make sure I had all the information required to make the right decision in purchasing the furniture that I selected. This place has beautiful furniture, some were reasonably priced, and some were a little steep. However, their clearance side had some good things. I thought the employees here were really nice, but it seems like they don't seem to really communicate well with each other. I went to purchase a bedroom set, and one of the ladies was nice enough to hold it for a day while I could decide if I really wanted it. I called back the next day and told them I would purchase it, but the employee that gave me the quote would not be in for a few days, and that they would hold it. The next day, I get a call from another employee staying they were going to take the hold off because others may want to buy it. I had to call back and explain to someone the whole story, and they still didn't get it right. I was able to purchase the bedroom set, but had to make several phone calls because none of the employees seem to communicate with each other. However, I do love my new bedroom set! read more

When my husband and I first walked in, we were greeted immediately by Jason which is always great for any establishment. He was very thorough with all our questions and made us feel at home. He treated us so kind. We purchased a table and the the following week we purchased a lot more items and he, Rob and John helped us so much. They did awesome with wrapping our items and loading carefully into our vehicle. They also treated our friends great and helped them as well. Absolutely disappointed in the customer service. Walked in, both associates were at the front desk on their devices, they failed to even acknowledge us- didn't greet us or ask us if we needed assistance. We just purchased our first home in the area and are ready to buy furniture, but they could not be bothered or care less. There were several people in the store and the associates failed to greet or provide assistance to any of us. After browsing for about 15 min, we decided to leave, associates again didn't acknowledge us. Will not be returning. read more

Sales rep that helped us a few years ago was down to earth, gave honest opinion about selection. Was ready to pay $5000+ for a leather sectional set, ended up with a larger set with nice fabric selection for less than half of what we were going to spend. Reason for just two stars is due to construction of set that was purchased. After two and a half years, a spring clip gave out from under the seating. Pulled the lower cover to see what repair was needed and saw the skeleton of the furniture was poor. The clip that gave out was plastic, traditionally sinuous springs are held by metal clips. Also, the quality of lumber is not so great, definitely not top choice of lumber. Honestly seen cheaper furniture have better bones, so basically feel like we paid for the style. Though our sectional still looks nice, we would rather have something that can last for the price we paid. read more

The furniture is over priced garbage. About 3 years ago my wife and I bought a couch and chair set for about $4k. It has had moderate use and looks like it's been in a frat house for over a decade. My boyfriend and I just bought a beautiful sectional couch(many sectionals can be bought for $1000-$1500) here this past weekend. We weren't really feeling any of the couches that IKEA had to offer and the prices we've seen at other stores for a couch of less quality was ridiculous! Thank goodness for Scandinavian Designs because we would have never gotten a new couch. The size of the store from the outside is misleading because the showroom is huge! I was a little skeptical because everything looked so expensive and I wasn't sure we would be able to find anything in our price range. So we walked in and I was expected hounds of snooty sales people to peck at us the whole time we were there, but we were greeted nicely by the staff and then we were left alone to explore the store. They would occasionally ask us if we need help and then would leave us alone when we said no. When it was time to checkout they were very gracious and professional. They made the buying process very quick and easy. So as I write this review, I'm also waiting for our couch to be delivered (delivery is $65). Unfortunately, they said that they would call us in advance during the day in order to give us a 4 hour window in which the couch would be delivered, but alas we received no such call. My boyfriend had to call in order to confirm our delivery. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm still satisfied with our purchase. I'll update once our couch has arrived! read more

Going on 7 months now... I'm AM STILL Waiting since September for a damn sectional we're not even excited for anymore. What sucks is it's not even custom color... All we did different is have a shorter piece on the end... And they call it custom. After 3 months of waiting.. WE called for a update...just to find out They messed up and the order wasn't put through correctly Seems like all the employees are quitting... Prob cause almost everyone has a crappy attitude...they probably hate working there... I don't know about the BS excuse of the port strike cause everyone else is able to their stuff on time. I've order other furniture from china... Weird how it got here on time... We had to push back our house warming because of them... And now they Completely Ruined the housewarming. Love this location as it is very difficult to find so there is never anybody there. Beware if your using navigation, it will probably get you lost! This is a very large store and although this location is not the largest in the chain it seems to have more space for art work. The staff is friendly and non obtrusive, letting you browse without hassling you. Store hours are shorter than normal though so check the time if you plan on dropping by in the evening. read more

Made many purchases here in the last few years. Big store with tons of options. Designs are modern and simple, sort of like IKEA but nicer and definitely better quality. It's worth it to pay the delivery fee because they will set it all up for you. Once we took a bed home ourselves and regretted the diy as it took us two hours and hassle to set up. The salespeople are knowledgeable and helpful. Their prices are reasonable especially considering the crazy prices asked for damaged items at some outlet stores in town. read more

This store must have have the F Crew working on Sunday mornings. We are couch hunting and we find a couch I'm in love with. The only problem is the chaise is on the wrong side. We've been to several stores by now and all have said they can switch sides on the chaise. Only 1 salesman on the floor and he was helping someone else, so we had to walk all the way to the front of the store. I noted the name of the couch. The woman at the computer seemed annoyed we wanted to ask about and BUY this couch. I tell her the name of the couch and she asks me if I took a photo of it. Why would I need to do this?? She finally looks it up and says the company doesn't offer the other side for the chaise. Are you kidding me? We left after that. My husband was beyond pissed at their piss poor attitudes and refused to give them any more of our time and certainly our money. read more

Nice furniture but very poor customer service. I'm usually considerate about my reviews but I was so disappointed with how me & my husband were treated. We went there twice, first we went there to check furniture & had an ok experience, a male staff assisted us (we bought a mirror on our first visit), we went back the week after to buy the sectional we really wanted. As soon as we entered, two ladies were at the cashier; both on their phones, they bought looked up but did not acknowledge us. I had to walk up & ask for their assistance, one of the ladies (Jordyn I believe) looked annoyed at my questions (I just asked if they have a right sided chaise & another color). At this point my husband lost interest, but since we really like the sectional we drop a few thousands bought it and left. I've bought two recliners from Scandinavia Designs and have been disappointed on both counts. The leather and cushioning on the first recliner started to severely deteriorate after two years of use, and the platform/base fell off of the second recliner within the first year of use. I'm a new first time homeowner in town, so I got a coupon from Scandinavian Designs to pick up a free vase. I didn't realize they had a SD in Vacaville. I was also looking for barstools for the new house anyways and I wanted to check out what they had. At first I was intimidated to go in because I want quality and clean line styled furniture but I don't want to go overboard on price. I was able to get a nicely designed adjustable height bar stool for $119 a bar stool. The style is hip and modern, the bar stool is comfortable and sturdy. It's made of wood painted black and has a chrome colored base. The bottom reminds me of barber stools. Not bad considering all the other bar stools I saw at Macy's Home, Target, World Market, etc. were similar in price and was the typical old style chair with long legs and a tall back. I wanted something that could slide under my new granite counter tops and not cover or take away from the granite. During my housewarming party, everyone kept complementing the bar stools. The store staff was great and not too pushy so I felt comfortable walking around. Also, they have a clearance room in the back that have a ton of cool discounts. I'll be back for the acrylic chair I saw that I want to put in the home office. read more

We stopped into the Vacaville store in mid-March on a bit of a whim on our way home to Sacramento. We had been looking for some new bedroom and living room furniture and had been having trouble finding what we were looking for. We are fans of SD and had previously purchased furniture from a Sacramento area store Kris greeted us as we entered the store and asked if she could help. We replied we were just browsing, and she gave us an opportunity to do so. When it became clear we were looking more seriously at the Wood Castle bedroom furniture, Kris approached us and wondered if we had any questions. Long story short, Kris was extremely helpful and patient as we went back and forth between styles and pieces. We ended up purchasing a number of pieces, including a sectional for our living room. Kris explained the problems with supply chain delays (we were already well aware), and set our expectations for a September/October delivery. We were very pleasaantly surprised when Kris contacted us on June 17 and said our furniture was ready for delivery. We set the delivery date for July 3rd, and everything went off without a hitch. Delivery guys were great: puntual, courteous, professional and careful. We are very happy with our furniture--the entire process with SD, and Kris in particular, was pleasant and exceeded our expectations in every way. read more

While we were browsing the showroom floor, we were left alone, and as soon as we required the help of a store associate, Michelle was right there to answer all our questions and coordinate all the finer points of the sale and delivery of our furniture. The store has a good selection of pieces that range in terms of both price and style. Having spent lots of time in some of the other major name brand furniture stores where you feel pretty anonymous and everything starts looking the same from one store to the next, it was refreshing to find such good quality and unique pieces here. read more

I have wrestled with whether or not I should write a review. I decided to give myself a sufficient cooling down period. It's been four months since the very last of the replacements/repairs were done, and I find that I am still angry about everything that transpired, and I have a daily reminder of it all every time I sit on my sofa. So here goes... First of all, I would not have given SD even one star except I do think the district manager, Dan, tried to make things right. Unfortunately, by the time we contacted him, we were beyond frustrated (four months into the ordeal), and then it still dragged on another three months. We purchased the Delmonico sofa and chair on 2/18/12 ("special order"), and they were delivered on 4/3/12. That part was perfectly fine, as we were told it would be about eight weeks. When I got home from work that day, I noticed immediately that one of the cushions had a large flaw, the legs were not the color we had ordered, and there was a huge knot in one of the legs. The store was closed so I had to wait until the next day to contact the Vacaville store. Two weeks passed before I ever got a return phone call from the store manager, Janis. In the meantime, it was very obvious that the cushion cores were not extra firm, as we had ordered, and one of the other cushions was already loose and creased; and to make matters worse, the back leg fell off! We are two older people, and I'm gone ten hours a day, so the sofa was only used in the evening for a short time. By the time Janis called me, we were sinking into the cushions (not easy for my handicapped husband) and the sofa was literally up on blocks so we could use it until something was done about the leg! Not that we didn't try to put the leg back on, but it COULD NOT be put back on. When I finally spoke to Janis, I couldn't believe this rude, abrupt person was the same nice lady who had sold us the furniture. I informed her of the condition of the sofa. While I knew "special orders" couldn't be returned, our furniture was clearly not what we had special ordered. I told Janis that I wasn't asking for a refund, and that I would be happy with returning the furniture and starting over. That was not to be since it was special order, and according to Janis, everything was 'fixable'. I was also informed that 'legs fall off all the time', and it should go right back on. I have been purchasing furniture for forty years, and I have never ever had a leg fall off of anything. Thus began seven months of repairs and replacements to "fix" our furniture. I have to say, it would almost be comical if we didn't have to live through it. First of all, the repairman came out to put the leg back on, and just as we said, it couldn't be put back on. He happened to have brought along a walnut leg to see if it was the right color to order, and had to end up putting it on the sofa. For the next six months we had one walnut leg and three legs of an indeterminate color. Next, we returned the two bad cushions to the store, and were left with one cushion for about six weeks. We finally got the cushions back, but the cushion cores were on back-order; so we were pretty much back to square one, minus the flaw in one of the cushions. As for the legs, it took the manufacturer months to provide walnut legs, even though it was the color stain we chose from the samples in the showroom. We were at the point where keeping what we had seemed easier, as long as the leg with the big knot and the one walnut leg were replaced. Janis sent them the leg that had been removed, for a sample, and they told Janis they didn't know what color that stain was! So we went back to walnut legs. All in all, I think we made five trips to the store in an effort to get things moving. We shouldn't have had to make even one, but Janis and her assistant Alana were terrible about returning phone calls or calling us to let us know what was going on. It was only after we contacted the district manager that things changed. Finally, in October, seven months after delivery of the furniture, the new legs were installed, and while they don't sit flush, it's not worth the time and effort to try to do anything about it, so we'll leave them as is. The cushion cores were also replaced at that time, and since then we have put supports under the cushions in an attempt to keep from sinking down so much. It has been so disappointing because the furniture wasn't cheap, but it is definitely cheap furniture! Even our nine-year-old leather sofa and chair we got rid of, and replaced with this furniture, looked and felt better. This was a really bad experience and we won't shop at Scandinavian Design again. We will take our hard earned money elsewhere. read more

The store was clean and staff welcoming. Jason contacted us as promised prior to delivery and made sure that we had no additional needs. Delivery was expected to be in March and we were thrilled that it came early. Delivery was on time, professional, and they made sure our floors were protected and new furniture had no problems before leaving.
