I see many of these reviews are older and perhaps from under old management? Since Scanlon took over the American Dry Cleaner location in Kingston, I haven't had an issue with any of my dry-cleaned clothes. I have used the pickup service for household laundry- blankets, sheets, curtains- and everything has come back nicely folded in plastic bags. I appreciate the periodic specials to offset the cost of saving my shoulders for these bulky items, and the pickup/delivery service is so very convenient. After being told on the phone that light blankets sheets etc would be charged $2.75/lb, for household items, I prepared a bag for pick up and then I got a whopping $78 for a couple of items that I could have knocked out at the laundromat myself in 2 normal loads. These were literally a few $25 dollar blankets from walmart, so the one wash was more expensive than buying new ones! when I complained I was told that they would give me some credit back but then they changed their minds - after spending over $500 dollars at this place, I really would have continued to be a loyal customer for years! Too bad, Scanlon - I suppose you have enough customers to be this short-sighted, but you've certainly lost one. read more

I took about 20 pieces of clothing (vintage Dior, cashmere sweaters, white button ups and a waxed jean to name a few) to Scanlon's in Rhinebeck and I was thrilled with the results. Everything looks to be in perfect condition, and perfectly pressed. I also felt that their pricing is very fair. My only issue with Scanlon's is that they are not located in Hudson!! I am thinking a third location would be a great idea so I don't have to drive to Red Hook or Rhinebeck :) read more

This dry cleaner sucks!!! They made no attempt to clean my jacket and charged me 53 dollars and the person who was working is an asshole

We needed dry cleaning for two two-piece suits and regular cleaning for a pastor's alb and stole. The total was less than we thought ($34) we had some good options for payment (including a discount if we paid in cash at the time of placing the order). Ashley is a wonderful employee, making sure to take the time to put a sticker on every coffee stain from the church coffee hours that had made their way to the stole. She found stains that we had missed, and she explained the way the cleaning would work on the different fabrics when we asked. Our order was ready in plenty of time, and Ashley recognized us when we arrived in the parking lot, having our clothes ready to go as we walked in the door. My son received someone else's clothing when he went to pick up his suit and shirt for his Grandfathers funeral. When this was pointed out to Casey the store owner he proceeded to accuse my wife of being a liar and told her "it was her loss". The Rude treatment was not what my wife needed while dealing with a funeral and having to get my son a new suit to replace the one that was lost by this business. When he finally admitted to losing the suit and shirt he offered less than half its value to make us "go away". No Thank You. Draw your own conclusions. read more

This business does an excellent job with their laundry but their service and estimated times are spotty.

We brought a sofa slipcover and 6 cases,(seat and back cushions) for dry cleaning, and when we picked the "cleaned" items up, they appeared to have been pressed, but not cleaned at all. Returned to store where clerk said she didn't have authority to issue a refund. Owner offered a 50% refund, which we declined. They should have done the proper thing and given us a full refund. Needed my clothing for holiday weekend getaway so specifically asked whether my clothes would definitely be ready by Thursday. The clerk assured me..."No problem". Well, they weren't there Thursday afternoon, the store was closed for 4th of July on Friday, and they were not there on Saturday. No reasons...no apologies. The help was very curt each day. I'm still waiting for the check for $150 to reimburse me for the sweater that was lost, costing $300. I went to the store. I got a receipt for the purchase. I hand delivered the receipt. I received a phone call. I could accept $150 check and $150 dry cleaning comp. I accepted. I gave my address where the check could be sent. I'm still waiting. The loss of my sweater happened days before Christmas. Scallions found a used Lands End sweater lost and found stock to replace my sweater. When I look at the reviews, this review is not the one that shows up as the newest although it is newer than the latest review. I don't trust Scanlon's and I wonder about Yelp. I still have the dry-cleaning receipt. Can I trust them with my dry-cleaning in the future? I'll remove the reviews when this is resolved. No stars. read more
