The condo that I rented out and this is the second year I've done this... Two different condos in this building were clean and inexpensive... And both had ocean view... There's a small elevator you take to go up to your floor. There's a parking lot right outside everything is convenient. The Hanscom is no longer a hotel, nor has it been a hotel for a few years at least. All the units are privately owned condos. There is no longer a desk clerk nor maid service. We used to stay here when my parents lived in nearby Egg Harbor Township, but that was about 5 years ago. It's still a great location, less than a block from the boardwalk and the beach, but they really need to make it a hotel again. The only way to stay there now is to rent from one of the owners on VRBO or some other site. read more

I stayed in Room 510 of the Homestead. It was very nice with ocean views from both windows. The building has a B&B feel. When you walk in there are wooden banisters and marble floors. The staff was very accommodating. The room is perfect for a couples get away or a couple with a small child. There is a kitchenette with a stovetop and anything you may need to cook a meal. When you leave the front door you make a left and you're at the boardwalk, right next to the water park. There are no assigned parking spaces but there is a parking lot next door that charges and plenty of free street parking not far away. There is also a laundry room in the building for guest use. read more

I had a fantastic time staying in Ocean City with some friends The room we were in was updated and clean (room 304). Although the room is tiny, you're not in there for most of the day since you're at the beach. The hotel is on beach/boardwalk block...right near the music pier. read more

We had some trouble at first because when we tried to check in after 10 pm, there was no one there and no one was picking up the phone. We were so mad since no one was picking up the phone and we were waiting until 1am calling everywhere. After waiting until 1am, the manager called us and she got us in immediately. We were very angry at first, but they were very nice and the inside looks so much nicer than what I expected. It's very cute and super cozy. The manager was very nice and she tried her best to fix all the problem. Even though we went thru some trouble, I highly recommend this place. It's very clean and very cosy. Oh and this place is right next to the boardwalk. Literally like 2 min walk Little tip would be.. Try to check in before 10 pm. I would def come and stay this place again! read more

Would not recommend for a vacationing family.!!!!!! The experience We has was beyond terrible. The establishment was very worn down very old and looked like it needed a lot of work. This building reeked of marijuana throughout all the hallways!! (Which is completely unacceptable) I complain to the super and he did nothing about it. There were kids running around being disrespectful, screaming, drinking alcohol late into the night. When I asked them respectfully to just tone it down because my kids were sleeping they were disrespectful said that they lived and worked there and basically went right back to how they were acting. If you're looking to throw a frat party this place is right up your alley, but for a family vacation I would not recommend it. The building I would also consider not safe the back door didn't lock which allowed anyone to have access inside I saw one of the employees get taken out in handcuffs and arrested one night. One of the residents told me there were two overdoses just this past year at this hotel On top of all the violation codes!!! Please be careful I write this truly as someone who has had a Horrible experience, and I wouldn't want your family to have to go through it. read more

Beth, the front desk attendant, was possibly the nicest person I have met on my travels in a long time. She let my girlfriend and I check in 2 hours early, and had a bag of chocolate kisses waiting in our room for us for our anniversary. She was such a doll. The concept of this little hotel/condo is fantastic, our room was clean and neatly decorated, with contemporary furniture and comfy bed. The kitchenette was awesome, we pan fried back to life some of our calamari and french fries and nuked some fish we had saved from the night before, saving us from the overly mobbed breakfast spots nearby. water pressure and hot/cold consistency was way all over the place, but its a very old building so let it be known. This place had charm and character and was so much more classy than all the motels and vacation rental homes in the neighborhood. Also extremely close to 8th street, which is like the heart of Ocean City. read more

We came here for a one-night stay for our first time in Ocean City. It was pretty good for the couple of hours that we've stayed there. We got in late, around midnight, because we had spent the day at Six Flags and the drive down to Ocean City was about 1.5 hrs. I had called Beth (the Inn Keeper) earlier regarding my late arrival and she was very nice to hide my room key so I could just come in whenever I want later that night. We stayed in Room 607, which was nice, although a little smaller than I expected. The bathroom was really nice, but could use an updated shower head. It was really clean though, which was a plus! I love the little kitchen area that was next to the bed. I can imagine that one can stay here for a week and just cook. The only gripes I had were that one of the boards in the kitchen above the fridge was sorta coming out....but that should be a quick fix...and also, one of the windows don't have shades. I assume it was to showcase the partial ocean view that Room 607 has. Additionally, the beds creaked...If those were fixed then, they may be 4.5* given the price and the fact that the room comes with free beach tags, which are required to access the beach ($10 value for 2 people). There are numerous motels/hotels in the area that I may check out next time I come to Ocean City but the price here was pretty decent, so I wouldn't mind staying here again. read more

This was my second time visiting Ocean City. I had an awesome time. The first time I stayed at Plymouth Inn around the corner from this one and it was horrible but this hotel was a dream compared to that one. I stayed in suite 407. The suite was very nice , clean and up to date. It made my three day stay enjoyable and it was very close to th3 beach which made it more fabulous and the staff was very friendly . read more

*** Before reading any further, the lobby smells like urine. *** My review: I booked the room a month in advance to accommodate myself and my 2 sons. (5 day summer vacation) The snotty front desk lady informed us that our room was being switched because the owner is down here. Although that was ridiculous since we had a reservation (see Seinfeld) I asked for a discount because I felt stuck. She offered me $5 a day. We bring all of our stuff in and the room was tiny. A queen size bed for my sons and they offered me a small cot. The cot would have to be wedged between the bed and the "kitchen area" and during the day stored in the closet. We then parked our car 3 blocks away (they don't have parking). On the walk back none of it was sitting well with me. My sons were trying not to make me feel bad. I didn't feel right so I rented a much better place across the street. I went back in the The Homestead to pack up and the woman gave us a $94 refund on a $660 stay. Needless to say I am disputing the charges. Rude and dishonest people. Less than 1 star. read more

Stayed here for the MS City to Shore ride several times. Very courteous, clean, and accommodating. No troubles with checking in or out ever. Clean comfortable rooms. Bathtubs for a nice soak. Close to beach and very affordable. read more

WARNING! THIS HOTEL DOES NOT ACCOMMODATE ANY NEEDS EXCEPT LOCATION. Let me walk you through our whole experience, first walking into the hotel we received no greeting except dirty looks from the receptionist who has no hospitality and should not be working the front desk. Getting into the elevator my family could not even fit, we could barely squeeze the luggage carrier in. When we arrived at our room we were shocked at the fact that it was smaller than my anus. Besides the horrible smell the outdated furniture and appliances we found drawers filled with clothing and under garments from the previous guests. The overpowering smell of death also was not a nice touch. After taking showers with towels that nearly fell apart we decided to have a snack, when we opened the cabinet we found dirty, unorganized dishes and spoons from the frozen yogurt place next door. Who knows the last time this place was actually cleaned!! The glass of water we drank tasted like it was from the toilet, but the toilet water was probably more tasty than the sink. Going to bed we noticed the bed bug protectant that made my children very uneasy, so we went out and purchased sheets. In our second room, pulling out the trundle bed was very disturbing as we noticed chucks of hair, needless to say we didn't sleep on that bed! Definitely will not stay here again only did for this visit because it was the only hotel we could find. Very disappointed with our stay. read more

Horribly awful stay here on Aug 29th 2016. Manager Sandy is an idiot and didn't even know if a coffee pot was in the room prior to our arrival. Upon check in, they too changed our room on us like another reviewer experienced, and also BOTH our room keys wouldn't work. Room small, dirty and definitely would not pass electrical inspections amongst others. At 11pm we attempted to use our front door keycard for the main entrance and the key would not allow us to be buzze in. 11pm at night with my 7 year old, what should we do?? Called the phone number, no answer, kept calling-no answer! We had no choice, and our knocking went unanswered by any other guests, so my husband and I cased the entire perimeter of the hotel until we found an open window with no screen and a box fan inside it. We carefully placed our 7 year old through the window to unlock the laundry room door. I called the next day and Sandy would NOT give me access to her superior! I demanded a refund, to which she called me back after she claims to have spoken to her manager and offered a full refund. 2 weeks later no refund went on our credit card. I called again, she said she forgot, and even confused me with another guests complaining with the same last name. "Manager" Sandy again said she would refund the room Monday morning, and did not. I ended up calling 3rd time and she said NO REFUND, blew me off and hung up. I called back and told her I was coming directly to the hotel to confront her and call the police, she hung up again. I left my job, went to the hotel at 1pm on a Tuesday and the hotel was locked up tight! There was NO hotel staff threre. I called the police demanding they arrive to file a report that the staff was not there and I was. I am forwarding that police report to my attorney, along with my cellphone records showing just how much I called the hotel during my stay and afterwards to get the refund, took photos while there and I am suing the hotel. This place is crap, the staff is not even a good word to use- more like local trash who collects a pacpycheck for not being there. My husband is a large contractor in OC, knows everyone! My attorney's 2nd home is 1 block up on the boardwalk. Had discussed my hotel choice with either of them, I could have saved much aggravation. But the photos looked great and clean...not the case. PLEASE do OC a favor and shut this pace down. BTW, the officer who arrived told me in the off season this place is a halfway house for the local drunks/druggies who need a cheap place to stay!!! Yuck! And I had my children in those beds. That thought makes me sick! read more
