I saw this restaurant on TikTok and the food looked really good. We ventured here to check it out for ourself. The food was delicious, with great presentation. We had an opportunity to speak with the owner and she welcomed us. I ordered a bacon egg & cheese sandwich with crispy hash browns and it was really good. I was looking for a place for a classic New Jersey breakfast: Taylor Ham egg and cheese. I did a little quick research and ended up at Scarlett 158 restaurant. It did not disappoint. While parking is challenging, when I went in to ask the owner about it he told me I could park in the driveway or around the corner at the liquor store which was closed. I'm glad I was not dissuaded. The sandwich was great, the coffee was great, and the service was great. The restaurant was clean, bright, and welcoming. I was glad to have supported this local business. This is such a cute family owned restaurant. It has a Rutgers theming as it's close to the school. It's a quaint place with amazing food. Everything was delicious and beautifully plated. I don't know how I never knew about this place when I was living here (it's less than a quarter of a mile from where I used to live but never showed up on yelp before today!). My friend and I were in search of a place for brunch this morning. Not too many places are open early on Sundays around here, but this place was, so we decided to pop in! The food here is very reasonably priced, considering the portions that you get and how good the food is. The presentation is awesome and the food is delicious! We decided to split the chicken omelette + hash browns and the strawberry banana French toast. I don't usually order drinks other than water, but after seeing the other review on the orange juice, I kinda had to try it. I'm in agreement--it was amazing. I don't think I've ever had orange juice so good. The owner fresh-squeezes it every morning! No sugar added either--just magical oranges. Service was super attentive without being intrusive (I just flew in this morning on a red eye flight and hadn't hung out with my friend in months, so we had a lot of catching up to do). What a find who would have ever thought this place would be pumping out some pretty awesome tacos . So my daughter saw this place from a post on tik tok and went with a friend to try it. So me and my husband tried it the next day and I'm so glad we did. We ordered each and order of the Birria style tacos. Which isn't on the menu but they said they will have it on there soon. Then we got to talking to one of the workers or maybe the owner not sure. He said they made other tacos as well. I said what the hell I was already two tacos in with the Birria tacos and I said can we order the chipotle shrimp tacos and a few minutes later I said can we order the Al pastor tacos as well. We definitely had taco overload . Lol so good though. Hands down the Birria tacos were the best. So definitely don't be fooled by the name because they are serving up a secret menu. read more

As many have said the owner is super friendly and attentive, and the place itself is warm and bright. I came around breakfast and got the Scarlet Breakfast which included eggs, hash browns, ham, sausage, bacon, and a side of pancakes. Not only did it come out quickly, but the presentation was great as well. I almost dove in before I could take a picture. The portion size was absolutely perfect - I had an empty plate by the time I left. Oh, and I can't forget about the orange juice! As every other review has stated, it is hand squeezed and absolutely refreshing. I have been to this location twice and enjoyed my experience both times!! The food was ready promptly for pickup and I got takeout both times. I am vegetarian and found that their options were plentiful. I ordered the Scarlet California and it was AMAZING!! The potatoes were slightly salty but had a ton of flavor, the scrambled eggs with the toppings tasted great, and the pancakes on the side were pretty good too. The other time I came I got the Vegetable Omelette and thought it was very good as well. It's off of Easton but I hope many students continue to discover this place. Prices are more than reasonable. I'd say it's way better than Hansel in terms of quality of food and price.
