Absolute nightmare of a place . I just went there for the head spa which is supposed to help hair growth and relax you and instead they completely destroyed my hair. I just had to leave with clumps of hair coming out and my hair dreaded all the way to the roots . It's going to be impossible to fix without pulling a ton of hair out and cutting parts off. Will take 6 months to grow back. Avoid at all costs. I asked to see the license of the employee and they claimed they just moved things around and couldn't find it . read more

Read the reviews - not just the "highlighted" ones. Because there are alot of bad reviews here - not what one would expect from a salon which has been around so long. The reviews show a consistent amateur or professionalism and the salon and staff either over charging people OR shaming people into paying for poor service/haircut/pedicure. I had the same experience. Don't do it. The modest prices are a way to entice people but they are manageable because they do not pay for professional or well trained stylists (and so don't have to pay them much). People like Flavia I am sure who are qualified left because why work for peanuts when you are skilled. If you want a BASIC TRIM or STRAIGHT SIMPLE haircut - fine. But you are still overpaying. Because even if Annie is good - she is only one person you are not going to get her. You are going to get a very poorly trained person who is not the skill level most would expect from a salon. This is more like a nail place which has Aveda products. Its not a sophisticated place for haircuts. I can't imagine the concern I would have getting a color. I personally thought like other reviewers here - she was completely unapologetic - for a haircut which was exactly NOT what I asked for and she tried to gaslight me. (After being insulted by the "stylist" that the reason I my HAIR didn't look like the pictures I showed the "stylist" was because I was older than the model). This is a big chance you are taking. For me - I had to get my hair redone it was so bad and that cost another $200. It is not worth the pain and suffering. Don't fall for the Sag Harbor "cute" element. Everyone wants to look their best - and everyone deserves better than this! That's the point of a "master stylist" - to help you look your best. I got the worst haircut here imaginable by Karina a couple of years ago. She cut it way too short, uneven, and even had the audacity to try thinning it when she had no talent. I had received a deep conditioning treatment along with the haircut, and the manager only refunded me the amount of the haircut, not for the full service. I absolutely love this adorable salon. They are reasonably priced in both the hair and mani/ pedi department. Everything is super clean and charming. I had my pedicure done by Consuela and she was amazing. I took my mother and grandmother here to get pedicures as well and the other two nail technicians were fabulous too. This is not the place for curly hair! I asked for the best person and when I got there and she asked what I wanted and I said you're the expert she wouldn't cut my hair because she was uncomfortable. I appreciate the fact that she admitted that she was uncomfortable and therefore didn't cut my hair. BUT I have never gone to a salon that the hairdresser asked me specific and direct instructions. She is supposed to be the expert. The funny part was she asked if I wanted to grow it longer- obviously didn't know curly hair. Owner was apologetic. What a waste of time! read more

I've been going to Scarlett Rose for over 3 years for both hair & nail services. I go anytime I need a pedicure, a mani or Shellac (they do the best Shellac job in the area, hands down!). I'm obsessed with the pedi and the nail polish lasts for a month! I have seen both Bianca and Annie (the owner) for hair and have had nothing but great things to say. I get so many compliments on my hair and I have recommended at least 5 friends and they are now regulars of Scarlett Rose. The Aveda products are extensive and they often run great promos. I want to love this salon so bad. I went for a mani/pedi twice. The first time everything went well. The second time i got an infection in my finger when they cut my cuticles from them not cleaning their tools properly. They do an amazing job with everything else, but if they aren't cleaning their tools properly for manis and pedis who knows what else is going on. I will no longer get my cuticles clipped anywhere after this. The ladies are super nice and they gave amazing massages, didn't rush, and did a great job painting your nails. I arrived on time for my appointment. The receptionist could not find my appointment. Then found it. No apologies. Then I waited twenty minutes. Again no apologies. I told them I had only an hour and a half due to another appointment-which was now 1 hour and ten minutes due to them running late. This was met with profound indifference. The salon is tiny and overcrowded and the manicure seats are totally uncomfortable-not proper chairs but too soft bench seats. The manicurist was rude. The eyebrow wax I got at Scarlet Rose was the most amateurish ever. Never has anyone made less of an effort than the woman at that spa. The technician assigned to me had the crazy over-plucked, unshaped brows that make you wonder if they own a mirror; I actually almost told the owner no way when I saw her walking towards me. It's a strange reflection on a spa to have such a poorly groomed staff member. But I decided to be very clear in stating what I wanted and didn't want for my eyebrow wax. Rip, rip and that was it. No tweezer clean up or even brushing the brows into place to see if there were strays. No wax on top or in between the brows, nor asking if that was wanted. Two pieces of wax for $18 -- I've gotten more thorough waxes for $8 at Pinkys. I did mention this to the owner, who supported the tech's technique and judgment. We booked two pedicure appointments. When we sat down, the technician asked if we would like the special pedicure. I replied "No, the simply pedicure that is 30 dollars on your menu". She said okay. We had what seemed to be a very standard pedicure (wash, file, scrub, and paint). Upon checking out, the registrar billed us for 90 dollars. I contested that it should be $60 per their menu, and she argued that we recieved a "special" pedicure. I explained that we had turned down the special and clearly asked for the simply but she refused to take responsibility, calling this a misunderstanding that we would have to pay for. The technicians had already left so we could not consult them. I'm the type of person that becomes uncomfortable arguing over money, so paid to avoid embarrassment but will never return and discourage others from getting rooked by these people. read more

Pay for a person who cuts hair properly and is trained. Annie may be good - but she is very unapologetic as are all the staff. The others are not advanced trained but she charges for it. U can see all the reviews are very mixed. That says it all. Many bad reviews and you should know you are taking a BIG risk with your hair! Good salons are not this inconsistent. If you have straight hair and maybe - maybe u get Annie- maybe youll be fine. See some of the haircuts here which gave good reviews. They are not current but mostly basic. Nothing what a stylish or current person expects. But the rest is a game of trying Annie scaling her business with inexperienced people and charging more. They are not professionals that are trained to cut advanced hair. Reviews speak for themselves. Many of the reviews are very bad. Why? Because they dont have enoygh trained people but book alot of appointments to make $$$. Everyone's hair is such an important part of your idendity. Don't take the risk. Its a big cost to your personal esteem! No one needs to feel obligated because its COVID to accept substandard work. It has nothing to do with it. She hires amateurs and charges full freight. After many years living on the East End, I've been to a lot of different salons for color, style and pedicures. Scarlett Rose delivers it all. The salon itself is lovely, clean and charming. From Bianca who makes my appointments (and thankfully reminds me of them) to Charlie who is the BEST hair washer in the biz (scalp massage that puts you to sleep), the entire experience is just perfect. I've had pedicures from Viviana and Consuela and they are exceptional. They last longer than any other place I've been. The salon is immaculate, the tea and coffee are served in beautiful china cups and saucers and the attitude DOES NOT EXIST. Honestly, we all know what a Hamptons salon can deliver and there is none here. Lastly, Annie is a superior hair stylist. She recommended on my first visit that my hair was being colored too dark. She also suggested organic color. My hair looks and feels like it did when I was in high school. The color is perfect and I'm no longing putting anything toxic on my hair and scalp. There is absolutely no lingering smell either. I've got tons of hair and have over the years been sort of rushed along at the end since it takes SO long to blow dry. I'm never rushed at Scarlett Rose and have had more compliments on my hair than I ever have before. I've never written a review on Yelp before but really felt compelled after being a client for almost a year. My stepdaughter now sees Annie and I've even brought my two Godsons there. Not only once but twice they have disappointed and for the last time. The first time we went there was for the most special day for my daughter (her First Holy Communion) Bianca who was the hairstylist not only just blows out her hair but when i said this is not a communion day hairstyle she looked at me like it was my fault. $500 later and it was a blow out oh wait they didn't even wash her hair !!!!!!!!! It was so Horrible for her special day. Then after i told my mom not to go back there she decides to try them one more time. After spending $650 on her micro blading a week later she calls them to ask for a dot of cream they have that she left at our other house 2 hours away. They said they "ran out" BS !!!! They didn't even call her back !!! Totally rude disrespectful and horrible treatment. Customer service is key in a salon and they have the worst client service ever. They do nothing to make anything right. I guess they don't need us because they are set with clients. All good there loss. read more

So GREAT!!!! This is a quaint, cozy, space. It has the feeling of what Sag Harbor is. Soft colors and lovely design. Treat yourself to a haircut, mani/pedi and you won't feel like you have to rob a bank to pay. Even though this place gets busy it never seems like you can't talk in a normal voice. Anni, the owner, always talks quietly to her staff and is always active in the making of your service correct and comfortable. most incompetent salon ever!!! went there for a hairdresser named MARY ,thank god shes gone and went around the corner to Sean Edison salon..already been there and not only do I feel comfortable the owner is on the ball,unlike the one at scarlett rose.i was there one day when Mary actually had to go home and get a product to do another client because the salon wasn't stocked..very unprofessional !!! then the salon owner Annie was trying to make it look like it was the hairdressers fault..iv'e seen her do that before...staff acted like they were doing you a favor,the manager/assistant walked around like she was half dead,and im sorry but she wore clothes that didn't even fit her correctly.no style for a salon! I witnessed appointment screw ups and some very frustrated clients, owner didn't look like she knew what she was doing when confronted with another unhappy client who had to have her hair fixed(one side longer than the other,and colr had to be corrected) AND IT WAS DONE BY THE OWNER...she looks new to the business,no confidence..surprised shes still in business..all I can say is im glad I met MARY and am glad shes with the other salon..wont be goin back to scarlett rose again! read more
