It's also attached to a cafe so in the morning you can get a bite to eat and still make the train. There's a ticket matching on the platform but only in the grand central side. If you're going up north you'd have to go upstairs for a ticket.

Average Metro North Train Station…read more Been using this location for my Metro North (Harlem Line) use since the late 80's. Not too much has changed other than some cosmetic differences on the platform. The best modification was the digital board they added with the schedule (Grand Central bound side only) - relying on the garbled speakers always sucked. At least the train fare went to something decent.....because it doesn't go to the actual rail service or their schedules. Inside is drab and blah. Sometimes it smells, sometimes it doesn't. I never bothered with the store/eatery inside or any of the overpriced vending machines. They have 2 ticket machines inside, but probably need 2 more since the IQ challenged sometimes tend to take a much longer time to operate the simple machine. There is a booth inside with an agent sometimes, but for anyone in the early morning or evening would be out of luck. There is some slight parking about a block from station, but the area isn't an area I'd want to leave a car at night. At night, sometimes shady characters can be inside or outside the station. During any time here, there are also some strange people.....but that's everywhere. There's one thin stairwell (one stairwell for each side) for exiting passengers and depending on how crowded the train is, it could be a few minutes before you can exit. There is a cab stand across the street and the cab drivers will be on top of most exiting train riders, but I guess it's their job. There's not much room for cars to wait for people they're picking up. There is the 7 bus across the street for the station - but much like the Metro North itself, the bus can be late at times. There are much better stations and much worse stations, but this isn't too bad.

Sometimes there's leftover newspapers on the seats and ground. The shelter is partially open air so bundle up during the colder months. The surrounding area is bustling, with lots of restaurants and Rite Aid across the street. There's also a decent bar next door. Parking is okay, free overnights and weekends. There is permit parking during the day (not run by NJ Transit) that's $120 every quarter.

The station officially opened on November 12, 1904 and the platform was lengthened in 1948 and then renovated in the late 20th century. The station is clean and reasonable well lit. We were able to find the stairway easily. The station has two side platforms and two tracks. The platforms have exits to Broadway's intersection with 157th street and are not connected to each other within fare control - there is no crossover or crossunder here between directions. The station is not handicapped accessible. The station is on the 1 line with the next northbound station being 168th Street towards 242nd Street and the next southbound station either 145th Street (for local trains) or 96th Street (for express trains) towards South Ferry. Each platform has one same-level fare control area near the middle. Both are fully staffed, containing a turnstile bank and token booth, and each has two street stairs. The platform is narrow in some places but could be worse if there were a lot of passengers waiting. It's not that busy on a weekday at noon. I will definitely use this station again.

This is the closest Metro North station to my aunt's spot in Bronxville (my residence until I move…read moreback to the boroughs next month). There's a nice, warm waiting area upstairs, which is helpful in the winter. You won't find anyone haggling you for change at this station, unlike its Harlem friend... Additionally, there's a coffee window/newsstand that's open during peak hours in the mornings, although I can't speak for the quality- never tried it. I think it's great that it's there in the event the Starbucks on Bronx River Road has ruined your order (they likely did). Next to the ticket machines are also beverage and snack vending machines. Overpriced, of course. It's a cleaner than the ones located further south, but the southbound trains always seem to be a few or 10 minutes behind. Drives me bonkers. That's all.

after doing a little shopping at the cross county mall my cuz who was my ride had to make a beeline…read moreto work and he was nice enough to drop me off at the fleetwood metro north station which via the local route will get me to white plains in about 30 minutes. the tracks are on lower level of the entrance which means you will walk down a bunch of steps which is better then walking up. a few ticket machines as a human is not maning the booth and the vending machines are ok but if the small snack shop is open you can get small coffee , candies , newspapers, etc. the electronic signage are helpful and useful for train times and possible delays. train come every 30 minutes during peak and non peak time and the waiting area above the platform is better then waiting on those nasty cold days. area is safe and i notice a few mta cop cars park on each side of station entrance. good station for folks who live in the area and work in manhattan or need to travel to upper westchester and beyond.

The south-bound trains are always late here. If you're lucky, only 2 minutes, but typically 5-10…read moreminutes late no matter what time of day. Hey, at least it's consistent. The teller is only in the booth to answer questions or sell tickets 50 percent of the time. Ticket machines located upstairs in the overpass that connects north and south bound tracks. This station is a stop on the New Haven Line (the first top in Westchester) and although the trains are never on time, there are always taxis lined up here waiting for passengers with the arrival of every train. That alone makes this station superior to many others in the area. Then, we can add a point for the Popeye's two blocks away. There is also a Rite-Aid, *new* Checkers, the local Chicken Hut, a liquor store, two grocery stores, McDonald's, and plenty of other lackluster distractions. There are some interesting folks around here and the Mount Vernon Police Department is also a few blocks away from the station. The late trains really frustrate me, but a girl's gotta get around.

the mta metro north /north white plains train station is ok especially if you miss the previous…read morestation which is white plains and the station you should exit but the 30 minute walk back to downtown white plains aint that bad and its very scenic and quiet. the station itself has been updated a few years ago and its a easy walk to exit via the stairs, elevator or escalators. most express trains going into grand central start at the north white plains station which means i will get a seat toward manhattan. overall a nice simple metro north station but next time i will get off the correct one .

The station has a decent size parking lot and a very small sitting area which closes at 4/5 p.m. I have a separate beef with MTA and LIRR but that is a separate issue. Peak hour trains come in the morning towards Manhattan twice an hour from 6-9 am. The train time from KP to Penn Station during peak is anywhere between an hour thirteen minutes to an hour and twenty two minutes. On the weekends and or off peak hours its about 20 minutes more, aka fooooget about it.
