I am disappointed. I was to get my car scheduled for repair over a week ago and was told I would have a progress report some time later. I never received one. When I walked in a week later for info, they told me that they hadn't started working on it yet. I know that a tornado ran through close by but if you don't prioritize the people who scheduled BEFORE the storm hit you make them WAIT LONGER!!! Was just having a driver side rear door replaced. Both insurance bid & Schaefer bid called out 9.5 man hours to complete. Scheduled an appointment to minimize downtime, so we dropped it off last Monday. They promised to complete no later than that Friday...Still 5 days to complete less than 10 hours???? Communicated with Ryan throughout the week...still on track. Got a call on Friday, not going to be done as they received a bad door?? Long story short, 12 phone calls, finally picked up yesterday....Thursday that is....9 DAYS to complete 9 HOURS of work....very disappointed. read more

Over the last 6 months I had a rock fly up on the highway and hit my hood, and my bumper was scraped by some hit & run idiot in a parking lot. Both incidents only caused aesthetic damage only so I tried to ignore it as long as I could. But every time I walked up to my car I couldn't help but notice the blemishes. I believe it was my service man at Parktown Imports that referred me to Schaefer. I called and made an appointment for an estimate. After the 30 minute estimate they provided me a quote and assigned me a repair date. Unfortunately the first date of repair was a month later, but I had them book it. The repair estimate was about $1,000 to fix both the hood and bumper. I dropped off my car on a Wednesday morning, they said it would take 5 business days to repair. During the repair process, their customer advisor Jackie called and emailed me status. She's super nice. And somehow, my car was ready in 2 days instead of 5. Their work is outstanding. I can't even tell where the damage was, and they fixed a bunch of other little dings that were on other areas of the hood that weren't in the original quote... and didn't charge me anything more. Top notch service, top notch work. If you ever are in need of body work, I fully recommend this place. read more

These guys had my car for the past three weeks after a car accident. It took a while to get it back because they kept finding new damage from the crash. Even though it took longer than expected, I respect the diligence they put into their work. I would rather have them take the time to fix everything correctly than just do a quick fix and miss a few things. High quality work and great customer service! read more

My car got backed into in a parking lot. While I was in it, not moving. The back drivers side was dented and a panel displaced. The lucky part was that the guy who hit me took full responsibility and had good insurance that covered everything, including new car seats for my kids and my rental car. The bad thing is that it's a pain to deal with insurance, getting estimates, and repairs just in terms of time. Schaefer is in my neighborhood and my family has used them for years. Luckily, I haven't had to. They have a good reputation, and even though they weren't the "preferred" shop that the other insurance used, they accepted me using them with no issue, accepted the estimate without making me get more, and it was taken care of. It took about a month overall to schedule an estimate, get it to insurance, and get approved. When I scheduled my car to get fixed, Schaefer kept me informed throughout the process and had it done exactly when I needed it - on the earlier side than they had quoted. It was done nicely, no issues at all. I would definitely recommend if your car is messed up like mine, but hopefully I won't need them again!! read more

Darren Gegg kept me informed all along the way about the status of parts delivery, and they actually completed the repairs a day earlier than I expected. I had to bring my car in to get a replacement on the quarter pannel and the outside door shell. My experience with Schaefer was an A++ the entire time. They provided a quote quickly and fixed the squeek on my door for free before even booking an appointment with them. I also had various scratches on the hood of my car that was separate from this repair. They ended up giving me a HUGE decrement in the price to fix the scratches. Once I went to pick up my car, I was extrememly happy with the work and washing my car as a courtesy service! Incredible Job!! I would recommend Schaefer to any and all of my friends and family!! Called Monday and spoke with a representative over the phone to set up an estimate and repair for my Camry. I finally had spoken with an esurance (responsible party's ins) agent the day prior and had a claim number from them, as well as a rental car promised. I'm an uber driver and have been out of work since the accident (can't drive with a damaged car), so I let the Schaefer representative know and also asked for the nearest available appt for repair. She set me up for an estimate on Wednesday and a repair appt for Thursday at the Crestwood location. When I arrived for the estimate yesterday, the gentleman at Schaefer Crestwood said "I don't know why they sent you here today just for this.. we could've just had you come in all at once." This was concerning to here, made me feel like I wasted my time coming in.. I tried to stay positive and said "no worries, I just saw a friend nearby and I'm glad the ball is rolling at least.." He wrote up an estimate but told me he "didn't think it was necessary for me to stay." I told him the lady I spoke with on Monday said there was a reason for me to come in for an estimate only, but he had it all figured out. When I arrived today to drop off for repair and pickup the rental, the lady at the front desk said, "before I write up all this paperwork, why don't you go next door yourself to enterprise and make sure you have your rental," the last customer she had trouble with apparently?.. I didn't know what was going on but I went next door and waited for 10min for an enterprise rep. He said, "we have a car, but we don't have the sufficient billing info from esurance to provide you with it." I then walked back to Schaefer and let them know what they said, and then as instructed by enterprise, I called esurance. They said, "like I told you or someone else before, we need the estimate and photos sent to us first, and also need to approve them, before we can provide billing info for a rental." When I told the gentleman at Schaefer who wrote up the estimate yesterday, he said, " I can send that over to them now it'll just take 5 min.." Jackie, the Schaefer rep I spoke with Monday, was aware of this, how esurance claims work. The gentleman who wrote up my estimate, and the entire Crestwood branch? doesn't know how esurance works? Poor communication amongst shops, poor knowledge of the claims and rental car process, and honestly the lady there at the desk was unfriendly and I felt I was inconveniencing her from her desk work by walking in yesterday.. nothing she said, just the vibe I got. No one but at Crestwood apologized today, and I realized that it wasn't going to be any time soon that I'd have a rental, so I left. I called Jackie, who I spoke with Monday, to let her know what had happened and she did apologize. Horrible experience, two wasted roundtrips from downtown.. no way I can go back. Someone else needs this business more than Schaefer Auto Body. read more

Third time being there due to insurance company uses them. Every time I pick up my vehicle there is something else wrong with it. They have every excuse under the sun as to what is wrong and always, always place the blame on me. It must be someone you took it to, something you did, etc... No one has worked on it but them and yet the car continues to go downhill. There was nothing wrong prior to taking it there for a fender bender fix. The customer service at the desk is rude, the woman who calls to say your car is ready is argumentative, the mechanic thinks everything is humorous. Horrible. read more

Not good. They used sub par parts, paint barely lasted 1 year, and they painted the bumper a green gray instead of matching the gray to the rest of the car. The guys in the office were nice enough, but nice doesn't make up for horrible work. I have worked with two other auto body shops that were better and the car came back one color. I took my car here to fix some collision damage. When I went to pick up the car I thought it was odd that they returned it to me dirty. Especially since they had to paint a lot of it. We got it home, washed it and realized the entire car felt gritty due to overspray, like they did not cover the rest of the car when they painted the damaged areas. We had to drop it off again for them to fix it and conveyed to them what the problem was. They called a few days later and said we could pick it and it still had overspray all over the car. So we had to leave it once again this lengthening the amount of time they had my vehicle. Finally, they fixed their mistake. A few weeks later they call and say that I owe them a few hundred more dollars because a check from my insurance company came to me instead of them. If that was my store and I had caused that much of a headache for customer I would've let it go. They seem to care more about getting their money than getting the job done correctly. I will never go back there. I would never recommend this place. read more
