This review is limited to Schaller's express service department. I received a coupon for a $39.99 oil change, filter & tire rotation for our Honda CR-V. I checked online and confirmed that the department opened at 7AM so I arrived at 6:48AM. At 7AM the door opened and I was told to drive in. I handed the coupon to the attendant who told me, much to my dismay, that the staff personnel who would actually be servicing car would not be arriving until 8AM. Undaunted, I proceeded to the lounge where I remained until 7:50AM when I saw my car being parked outside. I returned to the service department only to discover the individual handling my account was in process of heading out the back door. On his return some 10 minutes later he spent time joking with a couple other attendants before turning his attention to me. After the related paperwork was printed, I was directed to another individual who accepted my credit card in payment. The final cost was not the $39.99 plus taxes as expected because a new, since the previous oil change, charge of $9.26 has been introduced for shop supplies. Nonetheless, the overall price was more than reasonable. Another notable and questionable change from my previous experience was found as a result of the multi-point complimentary inspection performed. The one completed 9 month's prior noted that future services that might be needed included an alignment, micron cabin filter and an air filter. None of which were performed in the interim or listed this time as possible future services. Also, previously the car's brake condition was listed at 7mm while this time all four came in at a robust 8mm. read more

Brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. Had a coupon that they had sent me for $49.99 so that is what I thought I would be paying. Showed the coupon to the employee who took my information and he wrote it in. Waited in the waiting area and after about 45 minutes I received a video of the technician inspecting my car. About 10 minutes later I received a text that my inspection report was ready to view. Waited another 10 minutes then noticed that my car was in the parking lot. I went into the service area and asked if my car was ready. There were 3 employees there but they were all occupied on their computers. I finally asked someone if I could get my car and was told that the parts department was preparing a quote for new brakes. I told them I just wanted to pay and leave but was told that I couldn't pay until I got the quote. Waited again and then was given a bill for over $90. I told the man I had the 4999 special and that's what I would be paying. He went over to another guy and after a discussion he gave me a new bill for $63.01. There was a $9.26 charge for miscellaneous charges. When I asked what that was for the man told me it was for disposal of the oil filter, oil, and disposal of the rags they used when they changed my oil. Never had that before. After all that I just paid and left to get my car. In front of my car below my license plate was a license plate holder which looked like it came off my car. Asked an employee there about it and he said it wasn't mine so I went to give it to him and he said don't throw that at me. I was handing it to him. I left and I will never go back. read more

I purchased a brand new 2026 Honda CR-V from the dealership. Shortly after purchase, the heat stopped working. I was told the repair would take a day or two, but my vehicle is still not ready. Communication has been extremely poor. I have not received update, calls are not returned in timely manner, and when I do call the phone staff is unhelpful and unable to provide information. I was prompted to use the website to make my service appt. I even received an appointment reminder via text, but when I arrived they had no clue why I was there, which was to check my AWD that hadn't engaged when I needed it on the Prologue Elite I bought there 3 months ago. The 20-something service tech asked me if I was sure I had AWD. They didn't even look at the car. The Prologue Elite only comes in AWD, and it has an AWD emblem right on the hatch. So, I complained, but the 30-something service manager was completely dismissive, saying he didn't think his tech said that. So now I'm a liar and/or a crazy lady who hears things. Oh the SM also said since I can't sit around and because they have no loaner cars, they couldn't even check it out. But, he also proceeds to tell me that an employee also has a Prologue, and the same thing happened to her too, so they must just do that (not have functioning AWD when it's needed)... Either Schaller Honda will fix the AWD on my Prologue or they will be giving me a full refund. Period. My next call will be to the Connecticut Attorney General's office if this issue is not resolved forthwith. read more

Our sales consultant is Rob Hensel who was very knowledgeable and accommodating, especially as we were considering both new and used models. We greatly appreciate his straightforward/upfront yet no pressure approach, which made the experience way more pleasant compared to what I have experienced from car dealers in the past. I took my car in because I had a leak Ina seal on the roof & side joint. They charged me $516. and the leak isn't fixed. When. I brought it back they said I was worried about a pealing seal. So I paid $516. for nothing as it is leaking in the same spot. They also said today that the car would have to be handled in the body shop not service. ( never told that) They wouldn't even offer to help withthe money spent a d the repair person said he didn't know about the leak buf told me that he knew it would help, so he had to know it was anout the leak. My recent experience was good but that was the exception. Too many bad experiences like 5 minutes before closing I pulled in with tire losing air got turned away and for 3 days I pumped air til I could get an appointment. It took a Quick Look to see the nail in my tire. The list of terrible service like my brand new car with battery dying the manager said I left map light on instead the battery no good. The same manager kept telling nothing wrong with my car after going to dealership to see why my car was making strange sound and pulling too one side. For the Pre-Owned employees; -I knew more about the car than you did. -Google was your best friend with every question. -You took 2 months to send a $500 refund check after 6 separate calls. -Employees are not knowledgeable about features on cars. -I was lied to about multiple features/options I specifically emailed about. This place is TRASH and proof that not all dealerships are built equally. I have been a customer of Honda for almost a decade now, I even learned to drive on a Honda as a kid, and my experience at Schaller Honda is making me seriously consider terminating my relationship with this company as a whole. The first time I came to this dealership was in Sep. of 2023 for a simple oil change. The representative brought back paperwork stating that I needed hundreds of dollars of maintenance that I already completed at another location. After questioning this, the answer I got was apparently their systems do not connect. So, instead of asking if the maintenance had been done already they were just going to charge me to do it all over. The second time I came to this dealership was today (Nov. of 2023) for a sunroof that would not fully open. Instead of telling me it was a simple reset issue, they charged me $188.24 in diagnostic fees to press a few buttons in the car and reset the sunroof. Kevin Peart is a P.O.S. They then LIED and told me my car would not start because my battery, the one I have had no issues with and just drove to the dealership on after the car sat all night, was completely dead all of a sudden! After calling them out on this, they said the battery was not dead but was so bad that they would have to jumpstart my car for me to make it home. Of course, they then offered to sell me a new battery complete with installation fees. After questioning this, they then showed me the paperwork from the machine that shows that my battery is by no means new but is still working fine. Guess who just finished running errands around town on his "completely dead" battery? DO NOT LIE; if you want to say something will need to be replaced soon, do so. However, do not lie to customers. I used to work on my cars myself, I only started using the dealership for convenience. I can change my own oil, reset my own sunroof, and switch out my own battery. Y'all give mechanics a bad name; such a shameful way to run a business. I do NOT intend on going back here and I will make sure to tell my family and friends as well. read more

I would not recommend this dealership. I went in knowing what I wanted. I began speaking with a newer associate Carla- she was absolutely wonderful. When it came down to doing the actual paperwork she needed some help -completely understandable. However the more expierenced associate came over to help proceeded to speak l to me in a soft and somewhat condesending tone. The tone would only break when speaking to my father next to me who was just there for support. When we could not settle on a trade in value for my vehicle I requested my car keys back numerous times. It was not until the manager on duty Peter came over to me where I said we wanted to leave and I asked for my keys again I finally recieved them. They held my keys without permission after my trade in appraisal and were less then willing to give them back. It was very unsettling and I will be taking my business else where. read more

The staff is friendly and I like that they give you a color coded checklist after an oil change so you know what may need to be replaced down the line. I haven't gotten anything more than an oil change or tire rotation done, but their prices are average for a dealership. They typically have coupons online so be sure to check before you come in. My family has been purchasing vehicles through Schaller for decades. I figured since this was a place my family dealt with and from my hometown growing up in. I recently went to Schaller Honda in New Britain. I found the vehicle I had been looking researching for over two months online. My husband and I went down and met with a friendly salesman named JJ. We were able to test drive the vehicle and decided that we were in interested in buying it outright. The sales manager named Dylan, who barely showed his face did not want to negotiate anything - be it that the car was used! He was adamant about pushing me to finance and trade in my car for barely anything. I explained that I was not interested in financing. Despite, having an uneasy feeling about Dylan, I still went the following Saturday and met with JJ. We came to an agreement. (and of course Dylan barely would work with a price for a used car) However, I agreed on a price and initialed some paperwork and dropped an immediate $500 deposit down. I was promised to be able to pick up the car on Monday afternoon. Mind you I had a conversation with my salesman at 8:45 am on Monday morning then I had arranged to leave work early. While I was literally on the phone with my insurance company to get an insurance card sent, I notice my cell phone ringing. I had answered it, and it was Dylan who informed me that he had "some bad news" Thinking that maybe I had to possibly pay a little extra - which I would have done if the push came to shove! He informs me that the car was already sold, and he realized it was a mistake, which I believe to be a blatant lie. (Which means that Dylan sold the car for more under me while I was promised it and already had a deposit paid on it) He promised to refund my deposit and ended the phone call. I'm sorry but if you had truly made a "mistake" you would have tried to do the ethical thing and offer another vehicle. Especially, in today's day and age of technology, and if it were truly a mistake on his behalf, he would have done something to correct his mistake! I find Dylan to be very shady and he does not hold up to the standard of a reputable salesman. Dylan is a dishonest salesman/ manager, in my opinion. He does not value his customers and treats them like they are nothing. Honestly, Art Schaller should be ashamed to have such an employee working for him. Please don't waste your money or time! Recently they got a new Service Manager named Carlos. He is not customer service oriented and just seems to be trying to make a buck. I was there for an issue that was covered under extended warranty, thankfully I had the letter to prove it. Normally he won't even take the keys out of my hand until I provide a $175 diagnostic fee. After repairing the warrantied item at $0 I was advised my car needed a new battery. The following day I brought my car to AAA as I am a member. He was pleasant, informed, and definitely not pushy. We showed up to see a car, unfortunately it had been sold so Mario scoured the lot to find us cars to test drive. We found a car we liked and he made buying as car as a young female way less intimidating. The service dept of Schaller Honda tried to scam my insurance company by billing for an expensive part that was never installed. It failed because benefits were not assigned to them. They then called me and threatened to bring me to court for fraud and theft if I did not pay them $1500. I went to see a car. I was not going to drive it. Even though driving the car was not into consideration, the saleswoman wanted to scan my driver's license into her phone. I told her NO. She insisted and asked me to allow her to scan it in the office equipment. Because I found that so weird. I told her NO again and again. When I got home, I searched why a dealer would do that and found out that they could run my credit with my driver's license. I already have the bank I am going to do business with. Maintenance department is a miss. I have gone a handful of times they always forget something or don't do something really basic. I put in a service request for an oil change and car wash but only got the oil change. The car really needed the wash and I didn't have time to take it some where else. The next time I made sure to ask them to wash it but they didn't again. I always leave the service book on the chair but they never fill it out. Then they argue with my wife on what needs to be done if she takes it in. I sent her in for an oil change and ending up paying $230. For all the times that I took my car here they never washed it even when I asked. This is the only dealership I have ever taken a car for service that didn't provide a complementary wash with service. read more

DO NOT waste your time at this dealership! I have to say, this is the first time my husband and I have ever been treated rudely and disrespectfully at any car dealership. We had contacted the dealership and requested three cars to look at. We received an e-mail stating that the cars would be sanitized, placed on hold, and ready to go on our arrival. I then called the dealership and asked to speak to the man who had communicated with us via e-mail. He did not pick up the phone so I left a voice message asking him to call me back. He never did. Upon arrival, none of the cars were ready and the salesman that came out had no idea what we were talking about. When we asked to speak to the man who communicated to us in email the salesman actually said to us..."He never comes out and talks to anybody." What?! We asked to talk to the manager at this point. When we asked why the manager was unwilling to talk to us as requested he finally appeared, only to lie to our face and say that no one told him we wanted to see him. Mind you, we had just watched the salesman go into his office and tell him we wanted to speak to him! The manager then turned his back on us and went back into his office. He could've cared less. I have been looking for a new car, my lease is up in August, I called there internet department and spoke to Paul Pellegrini, I told him what I was looking for, I gave him four cars I was interested in, two Honda's and two Subaru's, and what I was looking to spend, his first price per car was cheaper than any other dealer, we finally agreed on a price and he put me in touch with his salesman Fred Pliskin, we set up a date to pick up car it was ready when I got there, went to finance manager filled out all the paperwork and was out of there in two hours, this is my second car from this dealership I feel they are very honest and good at there jobs. I wouldn't recommend this dealership to a friend. Schaller NEVER gave me a deposit back for a car I put a hold on, but choose NOT to buy. I've contacted them 5 times via phone and email. But have not heard back or received my deposit of $500 for a month now. Schaller Honda crossed privacy boundaries when my car salesman (who I didn't make any sort of friendship with) added me as a friend on Facebook, called me numerous times, and emailed me non-stop. I provided my phone number and email as means of contact--but not Facebook. Now for me personally, Facebook is much more private and personal, it was incredibly unprofessional for a salesman to be that pushy. Worst Service Ever! These are some of the rudest people working in this department who treat women as though they are stupid. We purchased a 2018 CRV that was once a loaner and a full warrantee. We got a nail in our tire and found out the hard way that they didn't include the wheel lock keys in the car when we bought it. When my wife brought it there to be repaired she was treated rudely by the service people and parts people who, in my opinion, because she's a woman gave her the runaround. All of the sales people are furloughed but when they return I will be talking to the sales manager as they owe us these keys and we shouldn't have to purchase them. ZERO STARS!!! Stay away. I recently bought a used car here. My experience was horrible. From the salesman, the sales manager, finance guy, to after purchase service. After being told the vehicle had two keys, I had to pay $140 for a spare key because they only gave me one. I spoke to the manager and he said the salesman was a liar. There was always only one key! Finance guy spent 30+ minutes trying to sell an extended warranty after I clearly said I wasn't interested. Then I had to wait while my car was finishing up in the detail shop, which was apparently just hosing it down. There was still dust inside. Within a few days I discovered a coolant leak. Two trips to fix this and three days without a car. No loaner available. A couple of weeks later and I had a transmission leak in my driveway. Dropped it off again. 2 1/2 weeks in the shop, no loaner. I finally pick it up and drive home. I can smell something burning. I look under the car and it's like no work had been done. Same puddle of fluid on the driveway and it was smoking on the exhaust. This was the worst purchase I've ever made! And nobody is interested in making this right. read more

Just had to bring it to the garage come to find the timing chain entirely seized up and now I need a whole new motor for my vehicle. Absolutely absurd that I need a new engine for a vehicle I bought 5-6 months ago. Anytime I have called this place over the last five years of living in New Britain they are always completely busy and rude. I called just now to see about replacing a starter and the lady transferred me to parts which was fine, but immediately the guy was extremely disrespectful like why are you picking up the phone if you hate your job so much? Started nicely enough with email. We were looking to buy a car in a particular color. Their webpage shows this car in this color. After two emails with Eugene, we confirmed and reconfirmed that the car was available for us to come see right now. We double confirmed because we live in a different state and it is a long drive. I told them I would be there in 70 minutes. 65 minutes later I get a call that the car won't even be arriving this week. If they were honest upfront we could have just put a deposit and bought the car from them, but they lied with the old bait and switch so now I will order it elsewhere. I brought my vehicle to Schaller Honda because my exhaust was making extra noise. After sitting in the waiting room for a little while my service advisor came out with a sheet of paper showing close to $4500 of repairs needed on my vehicle. I asked if I could talk to the mechanic and look at the vehicle, i was allowed in the back and they put my car back on the lift. The only reason I'm not giving one star is because the mechanic I talk to was a gentleman and took the time to explain everything to me. But the service advisor seemed to be pushy and upset i was inquiring about the massive bill they wanted to charge me. It was stressful, with a perceived $4500 worth of repairs on my vehicle I began to think it may just be best to buy a new vehicle (probably what they wanted). I wanted a second opinion because my father has always told me that dealerships tend to be the most expensive and crooked, so I didn't get any work done that day. Long story short I ended up taking my vehicle to a more dependable mechanic in Middletown and they were able to get my car back up and on the road for $650. I'm really happy that I did not listen to the service advisor for what was "necessary" on my vehicle. It's clear their dealership is hurting for business and they are willing to generate it at the expense of the customer. They promised things and we signed paper work to then find out that they made a mistake on the model of the car (mind you we talked about a different model for 3 hours per THEIR recommendation) not once we mentioned a different model in the conversation, we went though so much trouble and wasted so much time to find out this dealership is not worth our precious time .
