Old School Butcher too far from my apartment but good for lunch to go. Posted with review 10/26/21

Schatzie Prime Meats is a historic butcher in business since 1911. You can shop in the store or get delivery. They offer sandwiches to go. The Covid safety is taken seriously. It's a good place to get a lunch to go. I'm not much of a meat eater but for those of you that are I highly recommend Schatzie. It's prime for sure! You can expect old school customer service from knowledgeable employees. Let's keep these historic shops in business!

Schatzie's is a great locally owned butcher shop meets eating establishment located right on Broadway on the Upper West Side. They can easily be your go-to spot to pick up some prime cuts of beef or other meats, and at the same time you can grab yourself a bite to eat! They offer a menu including stuff like burgers, fries, beer, and milkshakes. I've tried a few things cooked up there with a group I was with including their ribeye steak and I can say that it was all absolutely delicious! I know people who have ordered from Schatzie's for years and are incredibly loyal to his meat services. I've also been informed that they will cook up meats for you and also deliver them to you if you so desire! Can't really beat that! Definitely recommending this place to other friends who live in the area.

Thanks again for a wonderful experience and a true New York burger!

This was my first trip to New York and I have to admit that this was the kind of burger joint I was looking forward to! From the joyful employees with their thick NY accents to the delicious meat and fries, I give this Meat Shop a top notch review and suggest you visit whenever in Manhattan. I enjoyed a delicious burger for lunch and then bought some tasty pork chops for dinner accompanied with mashed sweet potoatoes. I got everything I could possible aks for in terms of a true NY experience with an amazing family of butchers - plus the deep fried Oreos are a MUST have after you enjoy a wondrous meal! I will visit again as soon as I'm back in NY!

Looks a little dry but TRUST...nothing about this burger was dry.

I really enjoy browsing and admiring so many of the items, though I do wish the pricing were a bit more accessible. There are plenty of things I'd love to buy... just not quite within my not-so-deep pockets. That said, the market is worth visiting, especially during the holiday season when it's here. Even if you don't buy much, it's a great place to wander, people-watch, and feel a little extra holiday cheer. I just can't fathom going into my purse for the items. Maybe you can?

Perhaps their price points are a dollar per pound/lbs higher than other butcheries around, but the consideration and knowledge of the cuts and preparation methods more than make up for this difference. I.E. I stopped by to purchase some bone marrow to treat my partner to a nice snack. Without prompt or hesitation I was asked how I intended to use the marrow. I wanted to roast them canoe style to eat with bread, and immediately was rewarded with center cut shanks. These little details matter in the end. Everything they prepare for you is vacuumed seal in freezer safe packaging, sometimes there is cheese and snacks (AND AMAZING BUTTER) while you wait for your order. I haven't read any of the reviews of this place prior to writing this post. I literally just walked by this shop and went in and got to know- at least- everyone who works the front of the shop. Owner and staff are super friendly and happy to converse with you about what you want to make or provide helpful suggestions if you're not sure on preparation methods etc. I am a huge fan.

Their prices are very good and the quality is excellent. Usually I pop in and place my order, then let them know I'll be back in 20 or so minutes. I grab a coffee nearby at Bird & Branch or a cookie at Schmackery's while I wait.

While there are meats like Kovbasa (i.e., sausages,) and what they deemed a "Ukrainian Style Hot Dog," you'll also find yummy assorted fresh Blintzes and Croquettes, like the ones I picked up this last time to gobble down at home.
