SCHEELS sporting goods is similar to other large outdoor sporting goods stores. The thing that sets SCHEELS apart is the department store aspect. Customer service is on point . Very welcoming. I saw several managers and supervisors on my visit and even with face masks on I was able to tell they were smiling and welcoming me with kind head nods and body language. As for the area , the parking lot is huge. There are themes that seem to be going on , saw stuffed animal dioramas, auto-matronic Abraham Lincoln , Thomas Jefferson. bronze President statues everywhere. I didn't get up close to the plaques that explained why those were there. Maybe next time. The Ferris wheel and fish tank are eye catching for sure. I noticed that prices were definitely higher than most stores. The store is so large that I didn't even have time to take it all in. I came in just to browse. I didn't purchase a thing. I spent about 2 & 1/2 hours just walking around. I liked that they had everything in clear sections such as home decor, fishing , archery, sports, guns , bbqing, socks , works out clothing , outdoors clothing, small section for bikes and repairs, sport teams, kids toys like Legos and stuffed animals , ect. They had lots of selection in most area as well. There were lots of people visiting but I saw everyone was making sure to try to give everyone else their 6ft. space. Everyone was wearing face-masks, I saw sanitizing everywhere , and felt that visitors and SCHEELS were in covid compliance. How incompetent can a business really be? Scheels seems to be for the individuals that look for trends and not actual use of products. Online ordering and pick up is an absolute circus. Waited months for product that was "in stock" yet never shipped. Contact to CS was like pulling teeth. They repeatedly said nothing could be canceled or refunded, but mysteriously after multiple attempts, everything was refunded. I was also told I'd receive a gift card in the mail due to this nightmare, but that's also too much work. The email regarding the gift card was from December 9th, and yet there's nothing in the mail. For all the marked up products they sell, I expected some bit of competency. read more

Give me ALL. THE. THINGS. here. I could literally spend hours here. I came to buy a shot gun, various other hunting things and get my ice/roller skates repaired. The gentleman in the hunting area (wish I had his name because he was amazing!) came over and walked me through multiple models of shot guns and once I picked one walked me through the chokes and cleaning that specific gun and buying all it's accessories. He was extremely patient and kind despite the store being pretty busy. Also I got my ice skates sharpened while buying my shot gun upstairs - guess how much it cost? $3!!!!!! Amazing and the guy who did it did a great job! I am a former competitive figure skater and I know a good sharpening when I see one. Lol The only bummer was I brought my roller blades in to get their wheels replaced but they were all out of any kind of wheels :( I'll take 2 out of 3 of my missions accomplished! we were in town for a softball tournsment and stayed in a hotel next-door to Scheels and decided to go and visit the store. It is a huge store with a Ferris wheel right in the middle a real big Ferris wheel. This rating is focusing on Ginna's Cafe and Coffee in this Scheel's. After purchasing our meal we were informed we paid around $4 too much. A staff and manager came over to apologize and went way above and beyond to compensate us for the error. We were very impressed with the service. We spent the morning shopping at Scheel's and then received this very pleasant experience on top of this. The food was also really good and very inexpensive. We will definitely be back. We were visiting CO and someone told us about this place so we decided to check it out. If you're familiar with Bass Pro Shop, it's like that but on steroids. When you walk in, your welcomed with an aquarium archway and an active Ferris Wheel, not my jam but fun for kids or. The store is split up into sections, women's on the left, guys on the right and kids in the back. They have so many brands (Nike, Patagonia, underarmor, burton, north face, adidas, etc) and many sports sections (running, snowboarding/skiing, archery, hunting, biking, hiking, etc). If your looking for a dehydrator, a safe, guns, knives or home decor they have that too (upstairs). I think the thing that impressed me the most was how nice everyone who worked there was. I was offered assistance many times as well as if I was finding everything ok as I browsed through the store (not in a pushy way at all - VERY welcoming). I unfortunately didn't find anything I needed/wanted so I left empty handed but hopefully next time. Another fun fact, they are employee owned and guarantee satisfaction... win win. read more

After many months anticipating the opening day I have to say I am a little disappointed. The ferris wheel is cool but the huge saltwater aquarium steals the show. This is a brand oriented business. All the top sporting good brands are available along with the high prices. Opening day was crowded with 2 hour lines for Ferris wheel rides just to disappoint many small children when it broke down. The associates are in slow motion - it's kinda strange to see. Nothing here is efficient. Don't expect fast checkout or helpful associates. I simply don't know where to start with my review. I needed a warm jacket and figured this might be a good place. A few bronze statues at the entrance - That should have been a clue that this is no ordinary store. Once you step into the store, it's almost as if you have entered a theme park! Pillars of tropical fish spanning the ceiling. Then you are faced with a giant Ferris wheel! No kidding! Such an assault to my visual senses - in a good way. Wait! Is that the sweet scent of cinnamon buns? I follow my nose and find myself at a cafeteria like room offering snacks and beverages and an assortment of fudge. In addition to all the major name brands of all conceivable sports equipment and apparel, there is a upper level carrying home goods, more sporting equipment (golf, pool, gym equipment), mini bowling alley ($1 per roll) and a stuffed animal display. For my coat purchase experience, I was fortunate to be assisted by Erin. She was amazing - very knowledgeable on the range of coats, the technical aspects and she took the time and patience to help me compare my choices. I returned to ride the Ferris wheel and buy some fudge! I am not only sold on the exceptional customer service, but also by the awesome selection of everything sports!! Not only does it have every single thing for all of my hobbies, shooting, climbing, hiking, camping, It has opened my eyes to new hobbies. Only one specific skew was on sale for $16. The rest were 26 and o got the geee they must all be sold out from staff. I have spent a lot of time in this store (Johnstown). I've always had good customer service and there have been very few times when I couldn't find any help. I am specifically writing this review to commend above and beyond customer service I have recently experienced in the Bike dept. Well done, to the entire team but especially to Erin and Kyle. Erin assisted me in the purchase of a new Trek Domane SL5. She answered all my crazy questions, let me ride multiple bikes and sizes and help fit me to the correct frame size. I was in and out at least three times! Her experience as a cyclist shines through. Additionally, she ordered the color I was looking for and priced matched what the Trek store offered. I purchased from Scheels instead of Trek because of all the effort she put in. Also, because of the availability Scheels had. Once I received the bike and put a few miles on it, there were some adjustments that needed to be made to the derailleurs. Kyle spent the time making it right! He, also, answered the many questions I had in regards to the new bike and future upgrades. Very knowledgeable and again, a very experienced cyclist. I really can't say enough. Well done guys! I love this gigantic store. They have everything you could pretty much need. I would say they are a little bit on the pricey side, however the merchandise is quality. Sales are always welcomed, I just bought my child a Nike backpack for $20 on clearance. There is also games/small play areas within the store if you have kids that need to get some extra energy. We went there last Friday to pick up a few items. It happened to be my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. They gave them free tokens to ride the Ferris wheel. The man running the feerius wheel made my parent's feel so special and announced it over the PA system. As the exited the ride, he invited them to the cafe for free ice cream. It was such a special time. Everyone was so friendly and I would go back in a second. I am from Michigan, but when I return I will go back. The water sports gentleman named Brady is the nicest and most helpful person I've ever met at Scheels, he helped us get the paddle board he helped us get straps so we can put it on top of our car. Mask mandate not enforced at all. People just do what they want. Staff don't care or try to enforce the county mandate. The sign near the ferris wheel says not to use your phone for the safety of the public so I made sure to use my phone while at the very top of the wheel bc it doesn't seem public health & safety is enforced here, so it probably didn't matter anyways. read more

Scheel's earns 5 stars for SO many reasons. 1. We did returns after Christmas. It was seamless! It was organized, filled with friend associates to help you. Lots of works on the registers. I'm positive it took under 5 minutes. Did I mention it's right in the front of the store & clearly marked!!! 2. My husband has been eyeing a new shot gun. We headed up stairs where Ryan and Josh worked with us each covering specific parts of the transaction. Ryan walked with us to pick out the perfect case. Everything was ready for us after we did some other shopping. 3. In women's clothing Liz S. was quick to help us. I was on the hunt for a perfect vest and jacket. Liz graciously walked with me around talking to me about the differences between the types and brands. Her patience was much appreciate. The staff was so friendly and helpful in each area.
