    Old old lady

I'm very disappointed in the service lately. I've lived in temple for 15 years now and loved shells always but the elderly lady with purple hair is the rudest lady I've ever met. Rolled her eyes when I asked for my food well done. I'm sorry you're old and make just as much as me. Very unfortunate. And for the middle aged lady with the outrageous bob in the front maybe ur kids are little demons but you should change ur mood when dealing with customers. Ur grumpy and should put a smile on ur face and lose the attitude. And don't get me started on the raw dough in the cheese cubes. The last like 8 times they have not Been fully cooked through. Maybe worry about the quality of the food and not the times it takes you. Hopefully you don't delete this and see how true you are.

    Spicy chicken sandwich

My family ordered Schell's for dinner and was very happy with the food. We tried the spicy chicken sandwich, onion rings, fried chicken with fries and a ranch burger. I like how the French fries come in the cute little paper instead of a carton. The service was very quick and it was not crowded on a Wednesday night. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating as well as a golf course. The food tastes better than your average fast food restaurant, maybe it's because I don't think the recipes don't change from much. Sometimes when we've come here it's as busy as having a line out the door (that just goes to show how much people like Schells)! Even though it's not pictured and we didn't order it, we've gotten the Barbecue sandwich which is ground beef marinated in their unique Barbecue sauce between two burger buns and it's really good! They are on the small side compared to a ranch burger so if you get a Barbecue sandwich get more than one Also the Schells Dairy Swirl next door is really great and has been around for many years. I love going there to get ice cream!

Nice layout with water features throughout

This place is pretty great. The mini golf is the classic style, but also challenging. The course is 27 holes with water features, a lighthouse and lots of bridges. Service was very friendly. I wish we had gone a little earlier in the day as they were busy, so we needed to wait at each hole for a little while. It wasn't bad, but it was a hot day so my son pooped out after 21 holes. He did enjoy it though and wants to go back when it is cooler out. There is also a restaurant with classic things like chicken and burgers, although we haven't tried that yet. There is plenty of parking. Even though it was hot and there was a wait, people were great and enjoying themselves. They are open during COVID. Masks are required in the restaurant and suggested during mini golf. Most golfers were not wearing masks, but were social distancing.

A fun little local place. The mini golf, food and ice cream are cheap. People are happy here too, it seems to be a family business and has been around a long time. The golf course here is 27 holes long and a decent challenge. It's kind of impressive that they fit so much in such a small place. The make good use of water and every hole is different enough that the 27 holes don't get repetitive. Hole 26 was my favorite, it's rare that you get to hit a mini golf ball that hard anywhere. The course features no windmills or clowns but is set up more like a real golf course, there are water, sand, and rock hazards, doglegs, and undulations. The best part is they have a few ball washers on the course, I love mini golf courses with ball washers. They feature specials on hot dogs, hamburgers, and fries. The ice cream is decent and cones are cheap. Don't expect anything too healthy here, when you are playing the mini golf you can smell the fries and burgers in the air. From what I was told the ranch burger is the best thing on the menu, but I did not get a chance to try it. Very well kept and clean. Lots of parking but it does get busy summer evenings. Overall how can you go wrong with Mini golf, Soft serve ice cream, and a small grille. A great place to stop for some fun with family. The family that runs this place is happy and helpful and want you to have a good time.

No golf course is complete without a windmill, and if you're really lucky, a light house. It's a beacon of hope.

This place could be so much more! Schell's has been a staple in the Reading area for generations, but it's falling behind the times. Can we start with the basics? Maybe just make sure the grounds are clean and the water is clear. I'm all about water hazards in the mini golf course, but when there are mosquito larvae just chillin' in there? Not so much. Clean that ish. There was that opening scene in the 1995 hit film Outbreak starring Dustin Hoffman where the government literally firebombed a whole village to eradicate a biological threat. I'm not saying go that far, but it needs to be addressed. Just tell intern Bobby to get in there and dump 10 lbs. of chlorine in there. Problem solved. And Bobby gets his moment of glory. The food is on par with what you'd find at 7-11. So if you like hot dogs that turn 'round and 'round on those metal rollers for days at at time, this place is a "must visit". The toilet will also be a "must visit" a few hours after consuming said food. In a nutshell, come for minigolf. The course is solid .Just apply liberal amounts of mosquito repellent. Then if you're hungry, head down the road to a legit dining establishment.

    Order up some bbq, partner!

This is a review for the restaurant only. Pros: Quick, cheap, family owned. Family friendly with a casual atmosphere, cheap eats, and burgers, fries, hot dogs, and bbq. Always like supporting family establishments over the chain Mc"foods". Food is decent...hot dog with bbq was better than the bbq beef alone. Beef bbq was 1.85, dog with bbq was 2.65, fries are 159 for small, and flat clburger was 1.65. Cons: Cheap prices equate to smaller serving sizes. The bbq could use 2 scoops instead of one, and the regular hamburger looked like it had been flattened by a steamroller. Go for the 1/4 pound burger! Glad these places still exist...bbq, mini golf , and ice cream on one property is a recipe for success!

Fast meal on our Kutztown journey. Decent hot dogs, cheese bites were a disappointment. Prices were reasonable. They seemed to handle the post mini golf crowd with ease. Place was clean. One wish was for a greater variety of hot dog toppings. Seriously? No sauerkraut???

It's amazing to me that Schell's cheddar cheese cubes have never been copied by major fast food chains.

Not a huge place, but it looks to have a separate seating area towards the front where they can open the windows and get some nice Weather to come inside based on their name of course we had to get a couple cocktails so we each got a margarita they were massive and reasonably priced since it was $.85 wing day we took advantage and tried five different types. Happy to see they are offering Bell and Evans, but the downside is they are extremely small wings, but very crispy and flavorful except for the roasted garlic option. Those were bland as can be, but my Chipotle Cinnamon, which is more of a dry rub were fantastic as were the Cajun Ranch which had sauce. The hot were not extremely hot and their special was a strawberry Sriracha, which were amazing. Super friendly waitress taking great care of us, but towards the end of our meal, she was cleaning and disappeared for a bit so we had to wait some time to get our bill. No problem, we are in no rush. I would gladly return time and time again to try some more menu items, a real gem in the middle of nowhere.

Burrata Fritta is a generous sized and tasty fried cheese appetizer but, it only came with two small pieces of crustini so you'll end up eating most of it with a fork. Seared scallops tasted excellent as well but there was only 3 and they were the size of a 50 cent coin and about 3/8 of an inch thick. They were served over a generous bed of seasoned peas but, you are buying the scallops not the peas. Like I mentioned before, food tasted excellent there just could have been a little more thought out into appetizer creation. Entrees we selected were a just satisfying portion size and tasted excellent as well. We usually like to take home some of our main entrees for a later small meal but we ended up eating them both in restaurant. One thing important to note of importance to local diners is that entrees do not come with sides or salads. They must be ordered separately. Portions could have been maybe 8% to 10% bigger. I am not complaining but rather suggesting. I will definitely go back again to try some of the other entrees offered.

I like Wayback because customizations go beyond adding mainstays like lettuce, tomato, and onion. It still boggles my mind that all the fast food giants still nickel and dime you for those three basic toppings. So yeah, props to the casual burger chains that still offer these up for free. And like Five Guys, you can add "premium" toppings like jalapenos, grilled onions, and mushrooms at no additional charge as well. In addition to burgers and fries, Wayback serves up chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, and fried cheese curds. I was also impressed by the interior. It's pretty sleek with this sort of retro, wood-panel aesthetic to it. Wayback Burgers fits snuggly between, let's say the Burger Kings of the world and the boutique joints like Five Guys and Shake Shack. The only thing holding it back is quality and consistency. I remember my burger patties being dry to the point of breaking down and crumbling. This probably has to do with the fact that the patties seemed noticeably... small? Like 3 oz., tops. Maybe I'm imagining it but that's sure what it felt like. Getting a double here is basically a must.
