I don't understand why they had such low star on yelp, but I chose them because it was recommended by family and I used them previously. We had some challenges because the fence needed to be install on the decking board and not down on the ground. It is a DIY project, not done by professional contractors. I thought Schiano was a reputable firm, so I contacted them about installing new driveway gates at our home in QV. The Schiano employee they sent was a very hostile, angry, over-priveliged thug named Chris, who showed up at my home and gave me a hard time for no reason except his own entitlement and ignorance. Avoid this firm if you are: A Senior Citizen Disabled A High Risk Patient. This goon harassed me on my own property, denied me service , and refused to wear PPE despite my obvious Disabled condition, and the fact that I use a Respirator. I sent him packing with a couple of admonitions: "I'm reporting you" and "Don't come back!" We went with DIY, and are proud of our results. read more

No basic communication skills: they will not call you with updates to keep you informed during the process and each person on the team will tell you different information depending who you ask. 1.5 star at most. The quality of their fence is superior, thicker than the Home Depot's one. However, do not expect them to give you any quality customer service after you pay them the money. When Jerry, the owner, first took the order, he said that the PVC fences and the side gate would be included in the $75 freight charge. That is, they would first deliver the fences first, and after I fully install the fences, I would need to come back to them with the measurement of the gate, they would need to fabricate the gate. He "promised" that there would not be any additional freight charge as long as there is an order coming to our neighborhood. Long story short-after the gate was fabricated according to my specification, the shop did not honor the delivery. Jerry and his wife turned their words after I reminded him that he stated the delivery of the subsequent gate would be free as long as they have items coming my way. After weeks of no follow-ups, I called them to see if gate would be ready for pick up. Again, Jerry's wife, first hung up the phone. Then on the second call, she screamed and yelled that I have been calling them at least 4 times, and the gate has been sitting there and ready forever. Terrible terrible service. I can understand old ladies can get feisty, but the shop had no intention to deliver my the gate for free. You would expect $8,000 worth of product would be worth something, but absolutely no customer service just like what everyone else said. I just really think the old lady should take a break without yelling on the phone, or maybe the wife and husband should communicate with each other more often as the husband had already promised customer something, and the wife turned the business upside down. read more

When our roof for our Condo was being replaced , the roof deck owners were told they would no longer be allowed to keep their wooden fences that separated each owner's roof deck as per NYC's new fire code. The owners contacted several fence companies before the owners found a fence company that was willing to accept the challenge of replacing the wooden fences. That company was Schiano Bros. Inc. which is a family owned business. From the time we started working with Schiano, they were accommodating in helping us with all aspects of our unique needs. A representative from the company came to our premises four times to make sure all measurements were correct, since each deck had a different configuration. The company answered all our questions and concerns. The installation of all fences was done flawlessly in 3 days. All deck owners were well pleased with the company's attentiveness to all details, the cost and for a job well done! read more

Dont even bother coming to this low class place! Barely even walked up to the property before my bf and I were being barked off of it. "Hey! HEY! We're closed!" (Online it says its open and apart from small signage we didn't see, there was no indication they were closed as people were walking in and out freely.)We said okay. Then my bf asks for a business card and she (this blonde lady) sighs and rolls her eyes as if our potential business was an inconvenience. Very unfortunate to work with this company, Exceptionally rude. If there was a Guinness World Record for lack of manners, they've got the top prize 10000 years in a row. Receptionist is also terrible and the people who work for them just don't seem to care and think are annoyed whenever you try to get an answer. I ordered some fencing from them but after 2 months it still isn't here. Whenever I call in for an ETA, they blame the manufacturer and COVID19. OBVIOUSLY there will be a delay but just give a 2-4 week time frame or something?! It doesn't hurt to answer questions and I can do without the attitude though. These people need a good lecturing on how to properly treat a person. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST. read more

Horrible horrible horrible customer service. I had them install a new fence door for my yard and it was just a horrible experience. The crew showed up installed the door and left. They didn't ring my doorbell, call or even announce they were in my yard. They had to come back to install a lock promising me Saturday and then Monday. Had to call their office 3x in order to get a date and time and the 4th phone call was when someone finally decided to let me know when the lock was being installed. Women were nasty on the phone. No one wanted to help. They were happy the door was paid in full prior to installation. They absolutely sucked. Horrible business ethics. I don't recommend anyone to use them. read more

We called this company to get an estimate for a fence install. Upon arrival, i asked if he could do somewhat like the other fences in the area, and the sales guy says "we don't do this... and we don't do that". Well what DO you do? I asked? he seemed like he wasn't looking for business? Well He left without any more explanation than a totally negative attitude. We would never recommend this company to anyone looking for a reliable, dependable, company to install any type of fence. Its no wonder they already have so many bad reviews. We should have read them before calling them for an estimate. Thankfully another company came the same day and we are very happy with them. We also are giving them a security camera installation and more as we like their price, jobs and importantly their attitude. Our rating would be zero stars, but 1 is minimum on yelp. read more

It's unfortunate I can't leave zero stars for Schiano Brothers. Fact is, I never even had work done by Schiano. I could never get Jerry Schiano to commit to an appointment when i was home to discuss the work I wanted done, The only thing Jerry would commit to was a drive-by at an unspecified time when he was on his way back from an appointment he could somehow never grant me. And then never bothered showing up for the drive-by or even calling to make other arrangements. After weeks of this, I explained that I needed to have a specific and set appointment, and he rudely told me to call someone else. I've never experienced an "established business" conduct their affairs this way. In my dealings with Jerry, he proved to be rude, classless and totally unprofessional. In the meantime I was able to get three other fence companies to set up an appointment, show up at the appointment, and give me an estimate. Do yourself a favor, (and take Jerry's advice) there are so many other fence companies, avoid Schiano Brothers at all costs. read more

Run For Your Life! The folks at Schiano Brothers are very interesting bunch of characters. They are extremely nice to all the customers that walk into the door up to the point of the sale. First of all they are extremely racial people and they dont like black people or any other colored people. Once you may a purchase they you see their real characters start to come out. You have to call them over and over to see if they will deliver the fence. They hang up me on the phone and told me not to call them back. It looks like the blocked by number and I had to go to the actual store to speak with them. Once in the store, they pushed me around because they already had my money and I had to play their game. While inside the store, they also got into an argument with another black customer and called him the N-word multiple times and told him to get out of the store. To top it off their products are very cheaply made - only lasts about 1 or 2 winters and then they start to become brittle and break off easily. Do yourself a big favor and get to Home Depot or Lowes. Oh another thing, they try to sell you a lot of merchanise in the store and they tell you that if its too much all you have to do is bring it back. What they dont tell you, is that there is a 20% charge deducted from the return price. These folks are a bunch of sleasebags - STAY AWAY!!! read more

I'll start with the good... The crew who actually came to install my fence was top notch. The worked quick and efficiently, left my yard clean and neat, and the fence itself was top notch. Nicely welded joints on the gates, the posts and chain link straight and level. I cant even tell where they patched an older damaged chain link fence. Now for the bad. Do not call Schiano Bros if you have a deadline or expect any semblance of a time line. When I signed the contract, the salesman said I'd get a call in a couple of weeks to schedule the install. When two weeks came and went I called them. And called them. And Called them. I left no less than 10 messages and never got a response. Finally about 6 weeks after I signed I got my first phone call, no acknowledgement of my messages, just asked if I'd be home because the crew was on their way. Good thing I was home, because they were there a few minutes alter unloading equipment to install the posts. I guess I should have been thankful for any heads up because two weeks later when they came to install the chain link and finish the job, I got no call. Just a doorbell waking me up first thing in the morning. Glad it's finally done, and I am very happy with the product and workmanship, but the customer service was horrible and I will be contacting a different fence contractor if I ever need work done again. read more
