I use to love the food there, but the past 2xs I ordered there, im not satisfied with the food .I ordered the spinach avocado dip it was so cheap tasting no avocado at all in it, tasted like cheap supermarket food and for almost 20 a pop for an appetizer not worth it, and the roast beef was all fatty not like it use to be, not worth the 50$ plus tip I spent for a meal for me and my spouse and 15$ for 2 drinks I'd rather stay home. Waitress never even asked it everything was ok with the food.I give the whole experience a 3 out of 10. won't be going back anytime soon. Oh the bartender was great so ill give that experience a 6 out of 10.but overall not satisfied with the food at all . Need to improve the food or the cook??? Went on Sunday because it's half priced wings. Drank at their bar for about 2-3 hours got wings to go because it says NOWHERE the half priced wings are eat in only. Always a great time at Schileen's. We had Jeff as our bartender and he was quick with the service and pleasant! We ordered garlic hot wings, cheesesteak egg rolls and it was taco night, so tried a taco. Everything was great! Bar was crowded for a Wednesday night, but became packed when a local baseball team's coaches came in to celebrate winning a tournament. It was wild!! read more

Had the pleasure of hitting up Schileen's Pub in Westville. I started with a Mango Cart on Tap and we got the nachos and calamari Nachos were amazing. Everyone cleaned the plate before I could get a pic. Calamari was very run of the mill but the peppers on it were a nice touch. I also got the loaded tots. The garlic parm sauce was a little vinegary but otherwise good. I was told to skip the "Award Winning" Top of the Round Roast Beef and get the Italian Seasoned Pork sandwich instead. It came on a crispy seeded roll with broccoli rabe. I got it with American cheese... come at me It's a cool local bar, friendly staff that serves you well, and great during the day for a family as there were a few families in here with kids. Clean and not divey like some local bars. Beer is cold and food is fresh! Will go back when I'm in the areas for sure! read more

WOW! Either some people never had EXCEPTIONAL roast beef or have no clue how mediocre this place is. After hearing some good vibes on this place we tried it. The chili soup was EXCELLENT. An upbeat tomato base with beef and beans in a well balanced spicy background. The broccoli soup was lacking. The soup was thin and lacked a decent amount of cheese base. The roast beef was OK. The roll was more like white bread than a roll. Soft and pooey. The beef had decent flavor but due to cut of beef, the gristle part was indigestible. Service was good. Came here for the well known roast beef. Gotta say it was one of the worst sandwiches ever. They give you a little side of broth to dip said manwich in and its like a bowl of water and a drop of broth. Well needed to wash down the dry meat. The french onion soup was decent. I have now gone to this bar 3 times first time I had the crab cake sandwich special the roll was 75 percent bigger then the single crab cake and the French onion soup which was tasteless the second time I went I had there wings which are surprisingly good the last time I went I had the famous Roast beef sandwich famous for what I don't know. Now on to the service if you are not a regular the two girls behind the bar are useless the first time I came in they were not crowded but took 15 min before one of them came over same the second time the third time was a little better but still not up to where I would expect it to be if it was my bar especially since the one bartender was texting on her phone and the other was eating her lunch behind the bar if you are on brake go on break. Unfortunately only 2 Waitresses that night, they were overwhelmed, though, did a hellava job regardless! Met the owner as well shes a sweetheart as well as the nice young waitress! Schileens Pub was great to go to! They had live music playing and a great outdoor space area to enjoy while eating some really good food and drinking. Everyone there was super nice, to include the owner who we personally got the opportunity to meet. Would have loved to receive a drink menu though as they seemed to have quite a variety of selections. I saw someone with this frozen blue drink and asked what it was... blueberry margarita and it was absolutely delicious!! I also had the mini crab bites which were amazing and I can't wait to return to get them again. The food menu is pretty intensive so they have a variety of different things. They seem to be known greatly for their roast beef sandwich so if you're a meat eater that might be something for you to try! But they also have quite a few options for those who don't eat meat as well. Like fried green beans. Overall, the energy was great, the food was great and the drinks were great. I would have given them 5/5 except I had to ask for water multiple times, which I waited over an hour to get and my food and drinks kept being brought out to someone else in my group. We recently decided to check out Schileens for the first time and had a pretty nice time. The food was an easy 5 stars. Their hot roast beef sandwich is famous for a reason. The wings were yummy, and the couple appetizers we ordered were on point. The place was packed (it was a Friday evening, so that's expected), so we sat at the bar. We were immediately greeted by several servers (I guess it's a free for all when you're sitting at the bar, don't know). We weren't sure whether to order from the bartender or the servers that kept coming up behind us, but finally figured out the bartenders were only there for drinks and the food was the floor servers. Okay. No problem. Another point of confusion came at the end of our stay, when we had to cash out twice, receiving a tab from the bartender for our drinks and our server for the food. Not a terribly bad thing, just different and unexpected. I would have expected a single check for everything we had like everywhere else, but it wasn't really an inconvenience. Friday evenings at Schileens are LOUD. There was some weekly or bi-weekly special event with a DJ going on and the music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation even sitting across the room. The DJ guy was fond of yelling into his microphone as the music played, which was cool I guess, but not our thing. The atmosphere improved greatly once that was over at around 8pm and things quieted down a bit. Am I that old that I was crabby about the volume of music at a bar on a Friday evening? I guess so. I'll definitely be back, but on another evening of the week that isn't a Friday. I'd love to try more from their menu and have a couple more of their cold beers. read more

The food was delicious, the servers attentive, and while it's small it was perfectly cozy. Don't let the "stairs only" concern you: they have a seat lift that can be used. What could be better than an order of wings for under $6?? Seriously, the Monday night half price wings special brought a smile to this Buffalonian in South Jersey as I hung out with the bowling team on a Monday night. It was just another in my almost all strikes experiences with Schileens! This well run, friendly pub has no noticeable misses on its score card as it continues to do what it has done for years ... keep the customer satisfied. I am extreme "wing" critic. Ok, if you are not from Buffalo you may be confused because you call them "Buffalo Wings" or "Chicken Wings." It is important to note that the Great American Bison does not have wings so cross off the Buffalo extension and in Buffalo folks know you aren't talking turkey when you say wings. My first Schileen's Wing experience was a minimalist sampling of blackened wings that impressed but it was just one of those 'Hey Dave, try a Buffalo Blackened Wing' moments when I stopped with friends for a brew. But, I have to say that Schileen's fries their wings up with the best of them ... the bar keep said something about 'naked wings' when I started to rant about the breading all too many kitchens think they have to ruin WINGS with. I asked for HOT WINGS and my friend went for the Garlic. My wings were nice and crispy but hot? HOT? These might have had a tad touch of spice but they did not encourage beverage relief when the crispy sauce coated sauce touched my lips and tongue. The manager asked "Buffalo boy, what do you think?' And, I was honest ... better than most South Jersey options but when you say something is "HOT" make it hot; you can always say mild wings. But, at the end of the day when you go to a pub you want to feel it's your pub and the wait staff, management, and "mixologist" (I tried to call Mike the barkeep but my friend John said he's a "mixologist of renown.") all wanted to be my friend. The menu is classic pub food and having stopped by for lunch without sampling any of the alcoholic options (I was on lunch after all.) I can state that the food including their soups are really good. As Joe and I downed our wings John had a tasty looking sandwich and shared his hot fries with us ... no not spicy hot as in heat geesh ... the English language needs some added adjectives. There is an ongoing trivia DJ on Monday nights (Not sure if he is there at other times.) who is very engaging and perhaps just a little too loud for those like our group that just wanted to talk with each other. The teams playing were having fun ... it's a pub expect noise, insist on fun, and enjoy good food with the beverage of your choice! So, I left after having wings and only one draft ... smiling after having enjoyed some wings, brew, and company at a pub where the customer matters. Next time WINGS that are blackened or otherwise adorned so I won't miss the heat ... spice not temperature ... geesh! read more

Drinks are always average here! I know food prices are rising now but I think charging $13 for an appetizer at a dive bar is crazy! They have always been high compared to other bars! While Dominic's taverns prices are $7-$10 for same appetizer n it taste better! Mad when we ordered a cheesesteak for my aunt to go, asked for friend onions n peppers! Looked at receipt n they charged us $12.99 for cheesesteak n an extra $2.99 for long hot peppers! Never once did I ask for long hots! If I knew they were $2.99 wouldn't have ordered them! I'm not cheap but to nickel n dime people these days must be the thing because I noticed a lot of places doing it! Charging for up to containers, extra this or that, that used to be free! Went back again when I visited my son. This time he recommended the roast beef hot sandwich. It comes with cheese and sauce to dip it in.. this sandwich was amazingly delicious. Definitely a must order. Along with the Shepherds pie. This time we went a little earlier and got a table right away. I'm glad we didn't have to wait for a table. The roast pork and beef sandwiches have over time become arguably Schileen's marquee offerings. Had been awhile since I was there but I stopped in with a friend for lunch today. We both ordered roast pork sandwiches. The kaiser roll was very small and there was hardly any meat inside. No fries, chips, nor pickle either. And that measly, lukewarm sandwich alone was $11.00. The server also forgot the soups we ordered, then blamed the mishap on someone else. Hardly what you'd expect from a popular and supposedly reputable establishment. This is a great local pub with fantastic food and is well known for its hand carved roast beef sandwiches. Each and every time that I have been here the staff has been friendly and helpful. You'll frequently see the owners greeting customers and pitching in to deliver food to tables. Check their Facebook page for daily specials and events. The wings are some of the best around and have not changed when many other places have gone to a lesser quality for a higher price. Here's a place that is doing everything right. Almost to good ( every time I come here the parking lot and inside is packed ). The food is great and the staff is friendly. I stopped in today for lunch and slight problem my order, the manager must have apologized at least three different times. In a place it's always very popular that's impressive. A couple of years ago Saint Patrick's day was on a Thursday myself and four my friends got here when the place opened at 6 a.m., we were able to find seats together at the bar but just barely. When we left at 8:30 a.m. to go to the next bar the day there was already a waiting line out the door because the place is at capacity. Come for the sandwich, stay for the crowd, and play a game. I had the roast beef while hubby had the heart healthier pork. Both melted in your mouth and were full of flavor. Absolutely delicious! It's too bad (or maybe good?) we live far away, or else I'd want to go back every week for one of those roast beef sandwiches! Service was spot on and even though crowded we quickly found room at the bar. We played a few games of Connect Four and Jenga and just felt very comfortable here.
