After I finished my repair at home, I tried to return a pipe cutter (never used, never opened), sealed in its blister pack and was abruptly told no, then shown on the receipt - in a very direct and cold manner - in small print (no tool returns). So, if you buy a tool here, make sure you NEED it, there are zero returns and zero tolerance for long-time customers who were unaware - one exception would not have hurt -- I mean I thought local businesses were supposed to have a heart... Not just this, but I spoke to someone to see if they had any shovels left. I was told they only had six. I asked the clerk if I could please pay for one over the phone and I would be there in a couple hours to pick it up. He said no after arriving to the store. A couple hours later they were all sold out and only had one left for $60. When this happened to me recently I was reluctant to call an AC repair company because I suspected they would notice the age if my unit. Then likely tell me that it is too old to repair. Perhaps because AC company would rather one purchase a new unit, and therefore make the parts unavailable. Alternatively, the issue would be incorrectly diagnosed. Negativity Alert: Admittedly, I am skeptical about mechanics an other repair professionals I don't know. My past painfully expensive experiences have taught me that too often, a position of vulnerability leads to inflated bills and or unnecessary replacement of items instead of components. These statements are especially true if one is a woman or not mechanically inclined. Thankfully, my dad and now ex-husband had a secondary name of Mr. FIX IT and apparently I have inherited some of this ability. The GOOD NEWS: I discovered a best kept secret where one can locally purchase parts needed for a residential AC system. Its one of the few companies that will sell to the general public with stock for most systems. Their "bread and butter" is commercial refrigeration and cooling systems with 30,000 parts availble. Seeing the large assortment of tools and other items not common at the big box hardware chains made me feel like a kid in the candy store. Service was efficient and friendly. I recently had my Butterfly 1501 15-needle embroidery machine serviced by this company, and…read moreunfortunately the situation did not end in a resolution. According to their advertising, they have expanded their repair services to cover industrial sewing machines, longarm quilting machines, multi-needle embroidery machines, and sergers. Based on that information, I contacted them in September 2025 for routine maintenance -- cleaning, oiling, and tension adjustment. My machine was running prior to service, although it had been sitting unused for about a year. After the technician completed the service, I ran a small design and the machine stopped within a few minutes, displaying multiple error codes that had not appeared before. To their credit, communication improved once the issue began, and they picked up the machine to evaluate it further at their store. However, this process continued from September 2025 until February 2026. The machine was ultimately returned to me in February 2026 unrepaired. I was told they were unable to obtain the necessary part and that the head was likely bad. While I appreciate the communication efforts, I am disappointed that I paid $700 for service and, after several months, received my machine back not functioning. This has been a frustrating, lengthy, and costly experience -- and not the outcome I expected when choosing a company that advertises service for multi-needle embroidery machines.
