We went into New Albany location a few weeks ago to look at whole house window replacement. A fast speaking young man showed us the options (luckily we did our own research and have done windows in a previous house). He was only moderately interested as he told us his specialty was "historic" preservation (sorry our house is only historic to our family). We were told we would be called to set up a visit for measurements followed by a quote. After two weeks and no call my husband called the store and was told we would get a call (last) Saturday and still nothing. Guess we'll move on. Would like to use this side of the state line, but what can we do. We had our house built 19 years ago. Our builder installed Andersen Series 200 windows. Over the years our bathroom window started leaking air. I spoke to a carpenter that has done some work for me in the past, and he suggested I talk to PC as they are a Andersen distributor. Stopped in PC with the idea I may have to buy a replacement window. I spoke with Sandra McClure and explained what was going on with my window. Once she narrowed down the exact model of my window, she took me to their window showroom. Ms. McClure pointed me to the Series 200 Andersen window and asked if that is my window. She was right on the money. At this point she starts disassembling the window so she could show me all the weatherstripping and gaskets. She showed me each one I should check. At this point we go back to the sales desk and she prints out a full schematic of my window and highlights all the pieces I needed to check. I had volunteered I thought I may have to buy a new window. Throughout our entire conversation she said I have excellent windows and she doubted it needed replacing. She kept saying she felt sure my window could be repaired without too much trouble. Additionally she stated any parts I may need she could get them for me. Not one time did she try to sell me a new window. I did ask for a quote just in case my worse fears were the case. So, I come home and start taking my window apart. Two of the main gaskets that seal the windows together are somewhat adjustable. I gently adjusted the gaskets and the window quit leaking air. Now one final small problem. As I was trying to tighten up the window latch, I stripped out the wood casing. So I call Ms. McClure and first thank her for her excellent guidance. Then I explain I stripped the screws on the latch. Yep, she had a fix for that too. Worked like a charm. In these times of less and less customer service, Ms. McClure and PC provided excellent service. You can bet if I need anything window related, I'll buy it at PC. read more

PC Building Materials has been a go to place for us over the past several years. We needed to add Anderson window screens to some of the rooms of our home and PC came through. On a larger project, we wanted to replace the carpeting on our steps leading to the upstairs, the upstairs hallway, a bonus room and in the master bedroom. PC helped us find the best possible match for the color of the hardwood that was already in our home. In addition, the gentleman that did the floor work was all aces and went above and beyond what was expected. My wife and I worked closely with Pat Missi at PC Home Center when we recently had them provide Andersen A-Series replacement windows for our home (we replaced about 20 windows). Honestly, I don't know how the whole process could have gone any smoother or been less disruptive for us. Top notch customer service from beginning to end. Pat Missi was very focused on helping us and answered every single question we had, performed multiple quotes as we considered alternate solutions, and ensured the windows were exactly the correct size by personally measuring our existing openings and coordinating with the installation contractor on-site prior to having the work performed. The installation contractor was the absolute best and was extremely professional, respectful and neat. Unlike other replacement window installers that we've also had first-hand experience with, they were able to leave our interior wood trim and plantation shutters in-place! They installed from the exterior - this resulted in almost no disruption during the 2-1/2 days it took to complete the job. After I got blown off for a special order at Home Depot for Trex, I called P.C. Home Center and got prompt professional help from Sean Who placed my order and it was in within two days. He called me back when he said he would and got my order right. When I came to pick it up I needed my boards cut shorter so they would fit in my truck better and Derek very kindly cut every board to the length I needed. He helped me load them into the truck and assisted in strapping them down. I had never been to PC home Center before but I can guarantee I will be back and will bring my business there. read more

EDIT: the store manager (Minette) reached out personally by phone because she'd seen my review, understood the frustration, and wanted to apologize and discuss my experience and how to make it better. I'm leaving the original review below but with this note to clarify that even though my experience was negative, management at PC Home Center understands, empathizes, and wants to improve. And it is a pretty nice show room with a good selection of products after all. :) ORIGINAL REVIEW: Wasted my time, wasted my money. Came in for replacement doors and was advised to buy slabs cut-to-measure -- sounded great, so I took the plunge. Doors arrive (~20 of them), get painted by painter, then I discover that the store rep, the same one who gave me the guide on "handing," went ahead and changed the handing notes I gave him so that 1/3 of the doors I received were cut wrong (in addition to a few being cut to the wrong size). Reached back out with the issue, several times, no response, and finally stopped in the store to learn that he was no longer with the company and no one had picked up his work or emails. Fast forward, they want to send a rep out from the supplier that cuts the doors, to verify measurements etc. -- sure thing, they come, then I hear nothing afterward again. Follow up, follow up, turns out there's yet ANOTHER guy who's been assigned my case, and they come out AGAIN to re-verify measurements etc. (all of which were correct from the start). Sidenote, the supplier even said that he would never have recommended custom cut slabe but rather pre-hung doors for my job. Anyway, I finally get assurance the doors will be replaced, but it's positioned as a favor that they correct their mistake, like I'm fortunate to work with such a great company -- no discount offered for the delays and trouble, no offer to re-paint the doors, nothing. Sure enough, I hear nothing, so I follow up, and I'm asked to re-send the list of doors I need (the incorrect doors having already been picked up -- and I told them to mark them as they were taking them, which clearly didn't help..). I send the list noting a few doors that I'd like tweaked since they're being replaced anyway (and since a number of the doors I received had large gaps around the frame from the supplier apparently rounding the numbers I gave so they could use "stock" sizes rather than the custom cuts I expected). Follow up again after hearing nothing, and the rep is traveling but I'm assured he'll be back. Follow up again and the rep doesn't respond, stop in and am told he's in a training somewhere out of state but surely he'll be in touch. Finally stop in again and find the rep, and he claims he called me several times to confirm the order and shows me some bizarre phone number they apparently have "on record" (although he had my email as well). Sends me an order to confirm that reads like Greek, but at least I noticed that a few doors for replacement were missing, so get those added. Fast forward again, finally receive the doors, they're not tweaked as he promised they would be, but I'm told I should be able to "shave off" the ends if needed because there's basically 2X4 framing inside. Well, after finally receiving them, painting them myself (an onerous task because although "primed" they required another primer to avoid looking terrible after painting), and setting them in place to discover they still don't fit, I just tried shaving 1/4 inch off of a door bottom, and now the bottom is completely open -- because it's only a 1/4 furring strip holding the hollow core door fronts together. I'm so frustrated, I wish I'd never walked through the door at this place. Sure, the showroom is nice, and they carry some products that other stores might not, but I'd encourage you to look around carefully before doing business here. read more

Over the last few years we have made several significant purchases from PC Home Center. They completely remodeled our kitchen for quite a large amount of money. They replaced our builders grade windows with Andersen windows. PC Lumber and Hardware provided the building materials for a large deck expansion and a few years later they provided Trex decking and rails for upgrades to the deck. We have been good and high spending customers. Somehow we have fallen from their good graces. On March 31, 2021 we met with a kitchen designer to initiate upgrades to our pantry/utility room. On the morning of April 16 I texted the designer and asked if she had forgotten us. That afternoon I called her cell phone and got no answer. I then called the store and asked to speak to her, but she was not to be found. On April 20 she sent me a text with an estimate and scheduled a meeting for April 28. We accepted her design at that meeting. She said she would make an appointment for us at a counter top remnant place for the small countertop and that she would send us contractor names. We have heard nothing since and today is June 8. Is our project too small to be worthwhile for PC? Was my wife being a non-white minority a factor? What's the deal? At a minimum PC should let us know why they don't want to do business with us. read more
