Stopped in for lunch and had a bit of a mixed experience. The Food: The food was definitely the highlight. We ordered the Avocado & Smoked Turkey and the Smoked Turkey Breast on sourdough. The sandwiches were fresh, well-portioned, and had that classic Schlotzsky's flavor I was looking for. No complaints on the meal itself. The Service: The service was just okay. It wasn't particularly fast or friendly, but it wasn't rude either--just very "middle of the road." Our order was accurate, which is the main thing, but the atmosphere from the staff felt a bit indifferent. Cleanliness: This is where the experience fell short. The cleanliness was well below standard, specifically in the restroom. It was poorly maintained, with trash on the floor and an overall neglected appearance. It's hard to fully enjoy a meal when the facility's upkeep is lacking. Overall: Great sandwiches, but the management needs to put some serious effort into cleaning and maintaining the restaurant. The Gainesville Schlotzsky's has always been consistently good whenever I visited their store. The service has been remarkably consistent as well and they have been kind and courteous to me each time I've visited. The place is clean, well lit and has wheel chair accessible restrooms. The sandwiches are pricey but they do fill you up an often times have enough for leftovers.Their bread choices are great that's why I continue to recommend and enjoy their food. Go to this location on Saturdays and many times it can take 45 minutes to an hour to get your order. It is very short staffed possibly due to rude and verbally abusive management. She yells and it is heard in the dining room by customers. The counter staff is pleasant, friendly and professional. Perhaps a management change is in order. read more

Just wanted to update a 6 yr review for a place I come often when seeing doctors in Gainesville. When I think small pizza or good bread and sandwiches , Schlotzsky's is always first in my mind, but this is the only location I know of near me so I'm only here when I'm heading to my doctor nearby at the hospital. I always leave early to appointments or time it to where I can come by for an hour call ahead and order mostly an original and a bag Of gourmet chips to eat right when I leave the hospital. The original is like an Italian- ham, 2 types of salami, lettuce tomato onion and that great sourdough bread. Then some jalapeño chips and tea . If not that, a chickenbbq pizza - the first thing I ate there 20 years or more ago. But they have great soups, veggie sandwiches , and those damn Cinnabon's ! It's so hard to say no, but I had to learn or I'd be a beast . The location has always been hard to get into but I tend to go to places I like and if it's a little difficult sometimes I don't care. I want it. I'm only up there for five times a year so getting one of my favorite sandwiches or pizzas it's not gonna kill me. It takes a bit of time to get the order as there are a lot of custom options but I plan time or call ahead or go online if I'm in a hurry. This location did not have a warm and welcoming environment towards people who look different. I ordered the pick 2 which actually was not listed on the menu. The cashier had to explain my options to me, creating even more confusion. My original sandwich had no care or love put into it. I'm sure all of the meats and cheeses were not on it. Haven't been in a while... great sandwich, quick service and always fresh... soups on hand

I have never seen nor heard of a schlotskies. But I saw that it said cinnabon so after telling my kids all about cinnabon and pumping it up (theyve never had it) we decided to detour from our schedule and check it out. I read numerous negative reviews on here about this location and considered not going but figured I would give it a shot. We went in and the 3 ladies who were working looked like they were cleaning at the time, so that's a good sign. I asked if the cinnabons were made fresh and the woman told me yes, they are made to order. I told her that I didn't want to get them unless they were fresh and that my kids had never had them. She said yes they were fresh. I intended to order 6 (for my family) but something told me to order just 1. Once I ordered she grabbed a cinnabon out of the display case and said she would "heat it up" for me. She popped it in the microwave or whatever for 30 seconds and then boxed it up and sold it to me for almost 5 bucks. So i pretty much knew that this was going to be a dud but I just went along with it to be nice. We shared the roll. It tasted good as far as flavor goes, but the cinnabon wasn't made fresh to order. However long of a time that it sat there in the case combined with the microwaving completly just nerfed the magic out of thw whole thing. It was a too tough and stiff on the outside, making it really difficult to break/cut through with a fork. The frosting component was ruined by the microwave and had become thin, stiffened and transparent. Did we eat it? Yes. Was it okay? Yes. But I could say the same thing of a microwaved .69 cent honey bun from the gas station. A cup of coffee would have helped to soften the stiff outer layers of the roll except this location doesn't even sell coffee. Cinnabon is expensive and sets a high bar. They are supposed to be ooey gooey soft succulent plump runny doughy little rolls of decadence. This one was not that. It was so weird to get a cinnabon that didn't check all those boxs. I hate to sound like a spoiled consumer, but there is a reason people are willing to shell out 5$ on a little treat like a Cinnabon cinnamon roll. They know that they are going to be getting a premium product. If today was the first day I ever had a Cinnabon I probably would never buy another, thinking that the product was a rip off. (Don't worry Cinnabon I know you, your better than this...lol) I imagine it really depends on when you go in to this Schlotskies place. Timing is probably everything here. I imagine they prepare 6 or 12 of these things at a time and if you go into this establishment right when the buns come out of the oven then they will probably be everything I was craving and more. But they probably dont all sell out and some of them linger in the case for a few hours, long enough for a chump like me to have the experiance that I had. Oh well. You can't win them all right? No. WRONG. You should never pay a 5$ premium price for a Cinnabon have it be left up to chance and timing whether or not you get that premium product. So yeah. Bummer. I will say though. That the place was perfectly clean The bathrooms were clean. The restraunt smelled nice and clean. They had plenty of employees, I was helped quickly. The woman at the counter who told me she was the owner, was very nice and seemed willing to chat. She actually did seem to care about my experiance, and asked me how it was, and I did give her honest feed back and she recieved it well. Everything about the restraunt was fine. I had none of the issues other people were complaining about in the reviews. To be clear The place was empty (it was like 3pm on a Monday),and I didn't order any sandwiches. But the customer service and restraunt presentation were all fine. read more

I have frequent Schlotzsky's all over the country. What makes their sandwich is the balsamic vinegar. This location has a sign up now that says they want to charge you a dollar for vinegar. They've never stocked balsamic vinegar from shallot skis at this location ever but now they want to charge a dollar for something they don't have. read more

This was my first time coming to this location and the customer service was..interesting. The store had a very off putting smell which I couldn't quite put my finger on but other than that the sandwich I ordered was quite decent and tasted good. The price is on the high side for the combination chips and drink. The sodas were nice and strong and carbonated and weren't flat. The cups are big if you want to take a drink to go. This location was homely as I walked in and was greeted by the friendly staff. Since this was my very first visit, I was pretty impressed. Although I do think this place is a bit pricey, I do think it comes with quality and the varying bread selection. From the look of their menu, it seems like their quality branding is much different than the other sandwich places. For this occasion, I had a coupon I used to get a free 8 in pizza (chicken pesto) with a purchase of a 44 oz drink. The total cost was $2.13 (smiles). The pizza was pretty tasty as I was starving. The order didn't take too long either. Parking isn't all that great but not too bad either because, of course, it's limited spacing in the downtown Gainesville area--sort of. I might come by for lunch and try one of their sandwiches since the pictures look mouth watering. :) read more

Located at a busy corner in Gainesville, this American Deli caught my attention, as I have been looking for a great Italian hero for a long time. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. When arriving, you can get a choice of Small, Medium or Large. The small and medium are nearly the same, however the large is nearly double the size of the small. The only difference was the amount of meet that you get. The small gets you a single serving, and the large a double. The small Italian sandwich (also called their "original") that i got was barely a sandwich. lacking of meats and lacking of flavors. The bread was tasty, and that is what made the sandwich taste better. The prices of the food were fair. For an 'original sandwich' (The Original home of the original sandwich. lean smoked ham, Genoa and Cotto salamis, and melted cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses layered with black olives, red onion, lettuce, tomato, mustard and our signature dressing on toasted sourdough bread) was around $10 When they say lean smoked, they really meant dry smoked. The salamis were so thin that it was barely noticeable, however the fixin's were overflowing, making the sandwich appear larger than it was. I was hoping for a great sandwich, instead got disappointment. The good part of the Deli is that they are relatively quick and that they give you a number, then bring your meal to you, even if you are waiting to take it to go. read more

I used to love going to Schlotzsky's on Lawrenceville Hwy. in Tucker back in the day, but it has since closed(it's been closed for years). Whenever I got a hankering for one, I would always lament about how far away they were from me. Anywho, we came upon this location while on the way to North Georgia Canopy Tours, and I was really looking forward to having an Original. I get up to the counter to order and found that they have changed the size of the sandwiches. The small used to be the medium, and the medium used to be huge. The small now-a-days is roughly about 4 inches across...I mean, it's tiny! The price hasn't reflected this downsize, though... -_- I ordered the medium Original on jalapeno bread with cracked black pepper chips(you get a drink, of course), which ran about $9. We sat down and the sandwich was delivered to us in about 5-10 minutes. My mouth started to salivate at the memories of how good the sandwich used to be. I took a bite and...nothing. The worst restaurant I've been in lately. The food was good, but priced double than what it should be. The cinnabons were stale. The employees were too busy talking to help in a timely manner. We were ignored when we walked up to the counter. This was the dirtiest restaurant I've been in in quite a while. Trash on the floor, all tables needed to be wiped off. I asked for someone to wipe off a table, and after waiting for a few minutes, I wiped it off myself. We were in the restaurant about 30-40 minutes and the waitress finally came to sweep up the floor right before we left.
