The ladies who greeted us were very nice. They encouraged us to try all samples. We ended up buying flats of day-old strawberries, just picked berries and tayberries. And I purchased some jars of jams and honey. The berries tasted sooooooo good. We canned quite a bit and my friend cannot wait to hand out jars as gifts this season. The farm does take credit cards, but charges a fee for using one. Cash is preferred. There is plenty of parking. This is definitely a family-friendly place.

We stopped in on a cloudy Saturday and ended up with soooo many berries! Bring your own picking containers. You can purchase small buckets that they have available in the shop for $4. Go into the shop first to have your own containers weighed. The weight is deducted from berry weight. Then off to pick! They have several varieties. We saw strawberries, marionberries, raspberries, & tayberries. Their signage also lists boysenberries but I didn't see those in the rows. They also offer blueberries but they're not U-pick. Their strawberries are June bearing and were already done by the time we made the trip over. We'll be back next year to get a bunch of those. *They have berries ready to buy in the shop too if you don't want to U-pick. I like this farm being very conveniently located, easy parking, and a very short walk to the fields. They have wagons if you need to haul containers, boxes, or any other items out to the field with you. The berries are VERY good and the entire field appears well maintained. They've become one of my favorite nearby berry farms. Stop in for a visit. It's a fun day for the whole family!

The blackberries and Marionberries, my fave. They are big, plump, and bursting with flavor. Plus, they are so much easier to pick at a farm where the bushes are staked to a trellis vs. the wild ones I pick on the side of the road. Don't get me wrong, I do pick the wild ones, but I'm usually covered in juice and my hands and arms get all pricked. When I'm here, I pick a huge bucketful so I can make pies. The berries are so sweet I just add a little sugar and lemon juice and the pies are perfect. Also pick enough so I can enjoy some plain, by the handfuls. Their blueberries are sweet and delicious, too! I make space in my freezer so I can have them throughout the year. If you don't want to pick your own, no worries, they sell containers and flats in their cute country store along with other food and gift items. This family farm is so picturesque! It's a lovely setting and it's well run with friendly staff. If you are picking fruit, definitely go in the morning to avoid the sun beating down on your back. And wear a hat!

Organic Veggies! The best in the world!…read more I had opportunity to be given a private tour of their lands and operations on July 13th, 2011. They were currently harvesting turnips and cucumbers. I was able to observe them harvest the turnips then go to the processing plant where they were washing and packaging. The operation was very impressive. The vegetables were gently washed then hand packed in 25 pound bads! The Montecucco Family has been in the farming business for over 110 years! They know what they are doing and their produce shows it! Montecucco parsnips, beets, turnips, cucumbers, and rhubarb are grown locally but shipped globally! Locally you can find them in your local Fred Meyer, Safeway, or fine food distributors. If you are looking to support a local farm, buy Montecucco!

Their fresh, organically grown, meticulously handled, gently washed, hand-packed vegetables are unparalleled. I tasted the beets, parsnips, cucumbers, and green beans. They were fresh and delicious! They also have rutabagas, turnips and rhubarb. I had heard about the fresh produce that the Montecucco's ship globally but to see their farmland at the edge of the Willamette River was a sight to behold. After 114 years in business you can imagine what a well-oiled machine their production process was. Unbelievable! My grandfather grew artichokes and brussel sprouts on the Northern California coast for many, many years and visiting the Montecucco Family's Farm reminded me of how important it is to support a long-standing and respected family run farm business by purchasing their produce, telling your community to also do so, and asking your grocer to buy from them. We picked a watermelon and 1/2 bucket of apples. I feel like the apples were either under ripe or overripe. 1/2 bucket $8.50 full bucket $17. Watermelon upick is $6. They did have already picked buckets that you could just purchase a higher price. I didn't catch the price of the veggies or flowers. I will go back to check out the pears in a few weeks.

I was here for apples, and they had a ton of options. They were very friendly and patiently explained the process. You fill buckets and then pay at the end. They have pull carts so you can move multiple buckets around. There are so many varieties of apples! There is a chart at the entrance to the orchard with the names and what purpose is best for each kind of apple (eating, baking, applesauce). They also let you sample the apples to help with the selection process. The orchards extend farther than was apparently from the parking lot. It was peaceful at the far end of some of the rows, and we found plenty of apples. It can be muddy, so boots are probably a good idea. It was a lovely fall day, with blue skies. This was a fun way to connect with the season and to become more familiar with where some of our food comes from. Highly recommended.
