We stopped to pick some fresh peaches at #bellsorchard and surprisingly ran into the owner Loyd who gave us a tip on how to identify the ripe peaches. He was so helpful and friendly. Also sampled a few varieties of the peaches Redhaven , Frost, and Starfire which were so sweet and juicy. They grow a wide variety of other peaches specifically for canning, and baking. Also apples, pears and blueberries. Very family oriented!

We didnt see the pickers when we got there as they mustve been in use. Although majority of the apples were on the ground, we did find some good ones. We were on a mission to find the pink pearl & the worker let us know that it was the ones with the pink ribbons around them. The property is huge, with a play ground, animals, & bees. You pay by the pound, i believe it was $3/lb. The owner was really nice & let us know that season starts early-mid September. She let us sample the apple cider, & wow so fresh & delicious. We added a bottle of that too to take home along with our 5lbs of apples. We did end up getting several different kinds, each with its own texture/ taste. Some did have some bruises/brown spots, but it was easy to just cut off & enjoy. Such a fun experience. Will definitely be back next year, earlier this time.

Chickens and turkeys roaming the property and a petting zoo area with alpacas, goats, a horse and pony(this one is a biter so be careful)... o and bunnies. We came the 2nd week of October and most of the apples had fallen or were turning but we did find a few good ones to enjoy the experience and bring home. They provide the baskets and stick to grab the apples. Pay inside to weigh and they bag the apples up for you. On-site is a coffee vendor. The coffee was disappointing to say the least. I ordered their seasonal pumpkin americano and it tasted like burnt black coffee. Also, it was piping hot and they filled my cup so much that when I sat down it spilt on me, burning my leg. Had a few sips and called it a lose. There is also a small gift shop which sells local honey, apples and freshly made apple cider. Porter John for a bathroom and nowhere to wash hands. No hands sanitizer. There was a Home Depot bucket filled with water with a soap bottle aside it but I'm hoping they don't expect anyone to use that and I'm hoping nobody is. This was part of my reason for 4 stars. Also parking was slightly complicated but eventually a worker came to direct me where to park as the only marked parking area that I saw was full. In all, we had a great fall day. Expect to spend about 2.5 hours to let the kiddos explore and play. Everyone who worked their was kind.

We picked a watermelon and 1/2 bucket of apples. I feel like the apples were either under ripe or overripe. 1/2 bucket $8.50 full bucket $17. Watermelon upick is $6. They did have already picked buckets that you could just purchase a higher price. I didn't catch the price of the veggies or flowers. I will go back to check out the pears in a few weeks.

I was here for apples, and they had a ton of options. They were very friendly and patiently explained the process. You fill buckets and then pay at the end. They have pull carts so you can move multiple buckets around. There are so many varieties of apples! There is a chart at the entrance to the orchard with the names and what purpose is best for each kind of apple (eating, baking, applesauce). They also let you sample the apples to help with the selection process. The orchards extend farther than was apparently from the parking lot. It was peaceful at the far end of some of the rows, and we found plenty of apples. It can be muddy, so boots are probably a good idea. It was a lovely fall day, with blue skies. This was a fun way to connect with the season and to become more familiar with where some of our food comes from. Highly recommended.

Despite me "making" them go, we all had a great time and picked 3, ate one, picked 3, ate one and so on and so on and so on until our bellies and our boxes were full of berries. At this visit (mid-July) there were many varieties of red raspberries, blueberries, and yellow raspberries ($3/lb), a bouquet of flowers (50 cents to $1 a stem), and the freshest green beans ($1.50/lb). Other veggies and herbs were also available. The garden is surrounded by rolling hills and backed by snow capped mountains. Just beautiful! Less than 30 minutes outside of the city, but a world away.

Red Havens are sweet and Reliance are on the tarter side. It's a smaller farm but there were plenty of trees full of ripe peaches. The peaches were very fragile so it's important to be selective on which ones you pull off the branch. It's $3 per pound and we got a boxful for around $22. We also got a huge zucchini for only .50! I love the idea of farm to table and enjoy supporting local businesses which made Douglas Farms a perfect pit stop while driving through Sauvie Island.

It's a little bit of a drive and you will have to drive up on a gravel road for maybe a mile but it's worth it. The farm is quite large but easy to find where to park. The gentleman at the farm was extremely knowledgeable and attentive to us. He explained the varieties of apples on the farm, what they tasted like and where we could find them. He showed us around a little bit and encouraged us to pick a few different apples and bite into them to see if we liked them before picking more. He also had a very cute and friendly pup following him around. So apples and pups? Who could ask for more!? For fruits going out of season faster, you're able to purchase them from the farm cooler. Just gotta ask! But everything is $1/lb which is more than generous! We got Asian pears and honey crisp apples at $1/lb which in my opinion is unheard of. My only complaint and it's obviously not something that could be controlled or should be taken away from the farm is the amount of yellow jackets and bees everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE!!! You have to be extremely cautious about what you're picking and make sure that a bee isn't coming in the bucket with your pick. But if you're not allergic or afraid of bees, this place is perfect for your upick needs
