You get your option of two different pontoons that you yourself captain. Those two options are the pontoon with or without the two slides. We opted for without as it is easier to maneuver on days where it is windy. Both have a shaded canopy on deck, so you are not sitting in the sun the entire time. You can rent the radio and mat for the water and even take your dog. We have not rented any of these as we usually just bring our speaker. The other options are the length of time; you get a choice of 4 or 8 hours. We always opt for 4 because they is plenty of time. I didn't plan ahead, which was a mistake because everyone was booked. I ended up calling up Anchor and I was lucky to find that they had one boat left because of a cancellation so I hurried out to Fort Walton Beach to go pick it up. Sign in was really easy and after hearing that we were complete novices when it came to fishing, Hank went out of his way to hook us up with some live bait. It was a ton of fun and Anchor made things really, really easy. I admittedly prefer the waters around Destin, but you know...the next time I get a boat, I might get one here anyway.

People walked by with all their catches and everything. We each paid the $2 to walk anyway, and the entire pier is lined with people fishing! We did go during Memorial Day weekend, so I understand this is a busier time, but wow. It made for a smelly walk. Only the area near the shore had space for taking photos, so we were off the pier in like 10 minutes. Going for the sunset seemed great until actually being there, but we did learn from the signs on the pier that they would have a firework show, which we came back for. The firework show was about 5-ish minutes long, but it was great! They go all out at the end, so there's a lot of fireworks going off.

I highly recommend taking a walk. The salty air is super refreshing, and the wind makes it a very pleasant experience. Also, the scenic views are amazing. I have been to the pier several times, and I really enjoyed seeing the different wild life. I have seen jellyfish, herons and even sea turtles. I have never fished there, but I have seen people catch fish. I also have heard the best seasons to catch fish are spring and summer.

They are always so helpful and make the experience that much better. They even inflate our personal floats! The only negative we've ever had was our last visit there was no soap, toilet paper, or paper towels in the bathrooms. We informed a staff member before we went on our boat ride, and when we returned many hours later there was still no soap, toilet paper, or paper towels.

Amazing! We took…read moreour boat to Destin for family trip. The place we rented had boat dock but no launch/ramp. We used Destin Marina to launch from. They have a nice and small convenience store for ice, drinks, and misc items. There is gas at the end of the dock. There are picnic tables in the back. This came in handy to keep the kids occupied while launching the boat. Normally the wife pulls the truck off ramp and parks the trailer. At this marina, there were plenty of workers/dock helpers that helped the husband with all this. Having these young men helper is as such a blessing and added bonus. We made sure to tip them. There is also an indoor restroom close by that is clean and spacious and made a great family changing room. You literally leave the marina and pull right onto Crab Island.

Deck hands took off my boat and docked it while I drove 100yrds to D&J Dry storage ( see my review for Susan at D&J) walked back to pier and deck hand fueled my boat, paid for fuel and $20 launch fee and was off. They have everything you need. Fuel, bait, beer, ice, snacks, water, drinks and plenty of place to dock. Current can be swift here so have dock lines tied to boat so they can take it off trailer by hand and never get out of your truck. Or show everyone your boating skills and back it off yourself bumping and scraping the pier and not tip the young guys trying to make a dollar for the summer. I do that enough back home in GA where we have an 8' tide swing not 8" like in Destin. When I am on vacation I treat myself like the rich guy I'm not and let servants do the work. Just makes life enjoyable. Beside no one will go home and tell their friends about the amazing boat handler they watched in Destin.
