I've made a few stops here and make it a point when i'm in Pensacola to drop in. Best German Beer selection i've seen at a restaurant so far. The Beer Menu is Stacked! you can't go wrong with a tall Hofbrau Hefeweizen ever. Last visit my party got the Brat Sampler, Kids Chicken Schnitzel, Spatzel, and a Giant Brezel. Despite its size the Brezel never stood a chance. The Currywurst was next to fall. In the end only the Spatzel remained, but not much. A solid go to for dinner or a hang out in Downtown Pensacola. read more

Food was excellent. Pizza was large and well cooked. Toppings were great (even though I don't like cubed ham on pizzas, I prefer the thin sliced Canadian style ham). Schnitzel was good with the sauce on top, it would've been really plain otherwise. Our waitress was not happy to be there. It was kinda funny to us. She took care of what we needed, but she was very quick and I don't know if we saw her smile the whole night. Didn't ruin the meal for us though. Front of house staff were very friendly and helpful. As someone born in Germany, I was really excited to try this restaurant, and it did not disappoint! First - everyone was so nice!!' . The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere: German . The owner, who served our potato pancakes took time to chat with us. And yes- even though they are not like our German grandma's- they were so good!! I had the Currywurst, and my husband ordered the Jägerschnitzel. Both were so good, and brought back memories of Germany. The place was packed around 6pm - and we were glad that we arrived right before the big rush! It was a busy night on Palafox when we came in and they handled the rush with grace and ease. We started off with the giant pretzel and that was great. The cheese sauce was incredible as well. For my main, I ordered the Reuben and it was only okay, not too much to write home about. They chopped the meat on the sandwich, which was odd and contributed to less than awesome sandwich. The beers were fine, but if you don't like German/Belgian beers, you'll be disappointed. This is a cool spot, we'll probably come back and I'll order something different. read more

The server was very knowledgeable and what she wasn't sure of, she asked and returned to our table with the info we needed to make a better selection. Bavaria is our go to spot for great German beers and their giant pretzel, but for some reason we don't often stay for dinner and that's a mistake. The beer and the pretzel are top notch but don't sleep on the dinner entrees because they are fantastic! For dinner, on our last visit we had the Nurnburger plate, Rahmschnitzel, and the Garlic Parm Chicken spätzle. All three were delicious and extremely filling with sausages and schnitzel delivering authentic with the spätzle providing a huge, mouthwatering flavor profile. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere is a blend of Bavaria with NW Florida charm. I highly recommend a visit in the near future. read more

My wife and I had dinner at Baviara in Pensacola today. I had heard about the restaurant from a friend about a month or two ago. He raved about it so I was excited to go as I'm a fan of German food. I ordered the Kartoffelballchen (Potato Balls) for an appetizer. Very salty. The first bite was pretty good, but as I took more and more bites, I couldn't get over them being a bit over-cooked and the salt level was high. Not inedible, but not exactly pleasing. My entree was the pork Jagerschnitzel. It's usually what I order at a German restaurant. It came with mashed potatoes. I ordered a side of Spatzle as well. My wife ordered the Schnitzel Sandwich which came on a pretzel bun and with french fries on the side. I also had 2 beers... Doppelbocks. Good stuff. The meal cost exactly $86 before tip. The service was pretty good. The waiter was friendly. My meal was under-seasoned... I'm not sure I could taste any salt at all in the spatzle. I asked the waiter for salt and pepper and once I added seasoning to the meal it was okay. The spatzle, after adding salt wasn't bad, but really didn't seem freshly made to me. The schnitzel was okay but not really very good. The mashed potatoes were okay. My wife took the sandwich off of the pretzel bun and ate the sandwich without it. She wasn't really impressed. The french fries were really good though. I'm sure that we ordered wrong. A couple beside us had bratwurst and a reuben sandwich. I asked them how it was and they told me that they enjoyed it. $86 used to buy a really good meal. This wasn't a really good meal. If we'd have paid $35 - $40 my review might be a bit higher. That's really what it was worth in all honesty. Sad to say that I was disappointed and that we probably won't visit this restaurant again. Not that the experience was bad... but $86 for a sub-par meal seems a bit much. I can make schnitzel (have, and will again) better than this restaurant. I miss The Pensacola Cook's Kitchen. That chef knew how to make schnitzel and spatzle. read more

This little restaurant fills the air with deliciousness & it feels like home. Every time we dine here we are greeted & treated like family. We would like to thank Lauren for her hospitality while dinning. If you have not tried this amazing food you should. You will be torn between pizza or German food but it's ok you can have both. We order the Dieci Special we remove the sausage and add prosciutto, balsamic glaze, garlic oil with truffle oil. I enjoyed it. Service - Waitresses were dressed in authentic Bavarian style dresses. Very pleasant, helpful, efficient, & polite young lady. Food - Jagerschnitzel....Very large pork schnitzel it was ok,red cabbage a bit too sweet & spatzel was pretty good. Comparing these to how they were always prepared in Germany not really up to power. Sourkraut was was to sour (American way) in Germany they always added white wine to it so it was more flavorful. This was not. German potatoe salad was good but to much vinegar wine taste. I liked it but it didn't taste like it was prepared in Germany. French Onion Soup....very tasty and pleasing. Black coffee....full flavored and delicious. Enjoyed our dinners but it was not like being in Germany Their menu was extensive varieties of Germany food & bratwursts and wide selection of German draft beers. We venture to Bavaria about once a year as a special treat. On this visit I enjoyed the sausage plate. Each sausage was prepared well and the sides were amazing. This is one of favorite places to have sausages in town and I highly recommend. The service is great and the food is always prepared for your order. Do not expect your meal super fast, but do expect it to be freshly prepared. The inside has a nice feel with lots of memorabilia from Germany that spark a German feel if you have ever been in Germany. Came here with a friend one evening when I was visiting my hometown for a week. It occupies the space of my old favorite pizza spot. So I had high hopes, the vibes of my old friend were with me. The interior was very wide open and welcoming. The back rooms also moonlight as a pizza parlor? I wasn't sure, but they definitely do both, so the whole décor scheme seemed to be old world Europe. I liked it. Anyway, we got seated and were greeted by our very friendly server. He was very attentive for the whole night. I loved him. Forgot his name, though. That's my fatal flaw. As for food, I ordered the basic Jagerschnitzel (breaded pork schnitzel with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes). It was just lovely. The schnitzel was huge and just thick enough to get some good pork flavor out of it. Some schnitzel is just pounded so flat. The gravy was very mushroomy and added a nice umami to it. It made for a very heavy meal, and the mash didn't add any relief from that, but this was just that kind of meal, and I loved and needed it. Arguably the best German meal I've ever had in a restaurant. I'll have to come back soon to confirm that thought. read more

Blah. This was anticlimactic. We went two times. TIME #1: We caught them as they were closing early. They mentioned we could order pizza as apparently this restaurant shares space with a pizza joint. We declined and chose to return another day. TIME #2: We returned the following night and were attended by Natalie (at least I think that was her name). She was very nice. Don't have complaints about the service. But in terms of food and drink, oh wow - I haven't had a disappointment like this in a while. My companion had beer and I had some fruity drink. Maybe a cider? I forget which, but it wasn't the original one I wanted as they were out of it. No matter - it still hit the spot. Now the food was just TOO MUCH. I think they were trying to feed a family. Not to mention too that at least for my schnitzel, the mushroom cream was heavy. But you know without it, the schnitzel was bland. I *so* wish we had an idea about the sizes here. My companion who has a hefty appetite could not finish his meal. Worse still, the food was nothing to rave about and it made no sense to take leftovers back to the hotel and that's with having a microwave. Sigh - when all is said and done, let's just say I understand why they closed early that first night. The food here leaves much to be desired and German food is pretty nichey. I've eaten at Bavaria several times now and I have yet to have a meal that I did not enjoy! The flavors are second to none Evan's the portions are absolutely on point. They definitely have some of the best pizza in Pensacola. Not to mention the very well stocked bar and beer selection. The staff are good people who are always friendly with the best smiles and conversation. They always have a recommendation that is perfect for the occasion. My only issue is with the bench seating at some of the tables. Not comfortable at all. However the overall decor of the restaurant is very "Bavarian." We are already regulars and I don't see that changing in the near future. One last thing and this is important...everything is priced right!!! read more

You can tell they are short wait staff, we were slow getting to a table. Then the waitress was slow to get to us. She did keep my tea glass full and made wonderful recommendations for our meal, beer and dessert. We both had the Nurnberger plate. Now I'm not an expert on German food but those sausages and spicy mustard was great. The sauerkraut was great. Definitely not from a can. The mash potatoes were fresh, they had some lumps. This would be a go to plate but there so many other interesting things on their menu I want to try! I will be going back. read more
